Mr. Smee

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Mr. Smee with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Peter Pan

Mr. Smee is the Irish boatswain of Captain Hook's pirate crew and is often depicted as Hook's bumbling but genial right-hand man. In spite of his loyalty to Hook, he is more interested in treasure than catering to Hook's personal plans and grudges.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Although Thompson basically recycled his White Rabbit voice for the role of Smee, it fits well enough for the hapless, bumbling nature of this particular incarnation of the character. In terms of Burton's and Bennett's takes at standing in for the late Thompson, I'm leaning towards Bennett due to its accuracy compared to Burton. Quite impressive too in that Bennett's Smee hardly sounds anything like his usual stock voices. Gilbert's version of the character, while not outstanding, fits the part of an absent-minded minion decently enough, and it's pretty neat that they kept the Irish accent for Smee that J.M. Barrie originally intended for the character.

Yeah I'm going with Bill Thompson. His take, It just fits perfectly Mr. Smee to a tee.

Jeff Bennett's impression is top notch.

Corey Burton's impression is alright but he's far better as Captain Hook.

Ed Gilbert leaves the least of an impression but it does still fit the character to an extent.

I'm going to say Bill is the best. And for the record, yes he sounds like the White Rabbit, but that could hardly be helped. It seems that, just like J. Pat O'Malley, Bill Thompson had two definitive voices which didn't sound anything alike. For his other main voice, refer to King Hubert in "Sleeping Beauty". As for the others, it's hard to make a solid decision as to how they rank. I guess I'll go with Jeff first, then Ed, then finally Corey.

Bill is hands down the best voice for Mr. Smee. He made the role so memorable.

Jeff is 2nd as he is a really good replacement.

Ed was a bit deep but it was still an enjoyable performance.

Corey is too high pitched & way too squeaky making him the worst 1 here.

Bill Thompson simply WAS Smee. And Jeff Bennett is clearly the better imitator. Corey's rendition is way too high-pitched. Ed Gilbert was good for his version.

Burton sounds like a mix of The White Rabbit and SpongeBob
Definitely Bill Thompson and Jeff Bennett as the worthy substitute
