Voice Compare » Peter Pan » Captain James Hook
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Captain James Hook with sound clips and images.
Captain James Hook is the main antagonist of J.M. Barrie's play "Peter Pan" and its various adaptions. He is the captain of the Jolly Roger, a vessel that he sails throughout the seas of Neverland. He holds a strong grudge against Peter Pan that stems from an incident in which Pan removed Hook's right hand and fed it to a crocodile, a beast that stalks and torments Hook to this day.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Conreid can sound appropriately hammy and intimidating when he need be, but he can just as well become hysterically panicked and provide welcome comic relief. Burton does a pretty good vocal impression of Conreid, but given what he has to work with he never really gets the chance to give a performance as entertaining or potentially surpassing Conreid's. As for Curry, the different tone of the television series from Disney's adaptions means that Curry's performance lacks the comic edge of Conreid's, but he does sound suitably fierce as the more villainous Hook and hams it up quite nicely. While both Conreid and Curry play their versions of Hook well (with Burton doing a decent enough impression of Conreid), I'm leaning towards Conreid just a little more because his is simply the more fun performance.CatsTuxedo

Why isn't/aren't the Shrek version(s) of Captain Hook here? Too different?

@Dogman15 The Shrek version isn't considered an official incarnation of the character (even if he's included in the Character Generation page).

@CatsTuxedo And yet the Captain Hook of the Shrek universe gets different voices in each film. Oh well.

Hans Conried is absolute perfection! Tim Curry makes a GREAT villainous Hook as well. Burton did an OK impression of Conried, but it's not the "best" I've heard from him.

My vote definitely goes to Tim Curry because he does sound evil and impressive. :)

Hans Conried was brilliant as Hook and Corey Burton is equally brilliant in imitating him; that honestly has to be one of Burton's best vocal impressions ever.
Tim Curry is also one of the best Hooks ever, though.

Corey Burton does a great job as Captain Hook, both performance-wise and as a Hans Conried-sound-alike.
