Voice Compare » Over the Hedge » Stella

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Stella with sound clips and images.
Stella is the sassy skunk from the Over the Hedge franchise. She is self-conscious about her odour, and doesn't like to get close to others (both physically and emotionally). When RJ convinces Stella to disguise herself as a cat, she causes the neighbourhood cat, Tiger, to fall in love with her.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Wanda Sykes' extremely recognizable voice was a great choice for the spunky skunk. And as far as replacements go, Paunita Nichols does a pretty good job emulating Wanda's sassiness. Wanda gets my vote, though.

Wanda gets my vote cause she's the original though I do think Paunita does a really really good impression of her.

Paunita is good but Wanda gets my vote as she has a more sassy and spunky voice.

 1 Shout Out! [?]
Paunita has a great Wanda imitation, but at the same time sounds like Stella's Grandma or a "sassy grandma" type character like Suga Mama from the Proud Family.

I remember some article or something that accused Dreamworks of racism because Stella is black and she was voiced by a black actress, even though Stella is also white and she's pretty much the kind of character that Wanda Sykes tends to play: a sassy woman.

@TheTrueYuma Yeah, I think someone was looking too hard into it. Like Wanda did Bessy in the Barnyard TV show and movie and Bessy was the brown cow. Was that racism? No, she just happened to be a brown cow, like some of the other cows on the farm. People try really hard to find racism in places where there isn't, like in the movie Song of the South.

@JayGirl10 Ha ha, I love it when people use the "such-and-such a character was _____ coloured, that's so offensive/racist!". >.> It just makes SO much sense...

@NCZ It's almost as bad as the racial "connections" some people made to Megatron and the Dreads in "DotM".

@TylerMirage @NCZ I know. It's crazy. I think people should go after real racist things, instead of so-called racist things in the entertainment world, which isn't as bad as things in the real world. Like for instance, shouldn't there be a law or something against hate groups like neo-Nazis and the KKK? What about all those people on the internet (especially twitter and youtube comments) who call people of colors and backgrounds different than them offensive names? Once I read that racist people on Twitter were calling the President the N-word and things just because their Monday night football game was interrupted... the President was talking about the Sandy Hook tragedy! Ridiculous!
