EDITOR'S OPINIONYes folks now that this site's VC shall have a Onimusha section I figured what would be better to start it off than with the original hero of the series? In the original Onimusha game he was voiced in English by Canadian Stunt Man Tig Fong, in which the voice acting for the first Onimusha game was generally not considered to be all that good. (To make a rather unsubtle hint I got the Tig Fong clip from a site by the name of Audio Atrocities in which they go after bad voice acting in Video games). While I can understand why Tig would want to go with a lower voice, his delivery is rather a bit off and misdirected. (But in all fairness Samanosuke's lines were not exactly the best in that game.) Its not the worst example of voice acting from a guy who was clearly inexperienced but lets just say there were other performances in the first game itself that were better. In Onimusha 3 (and Onimusha Blade Warriors) he was voiced by VA Robin Atkin Downes, his voice and overall performance in the role wasn't absolutely perfect but it was an improvement over what we got in the original Onimusha game. In Onimusha Dawn of Souls he is voiced by VA Joshua Keaton (well technically but I would get into spoilers here if I elaborated on that). Joshua Keaton is a fine actor and all and his performance is not bad but he sounds a bit young here, I am aware of how things went for the role in this case but still it did seem strange at first. But still while Joshua Keaton's performance here did seem a bit strange at first his performance isn't bad at all. Overall none of them are perfect but I will go with Robin on this one with Joshua at second and Tig at a distant third.
