EDITOR'S OPINIONGuildenstern is one of the Shakespeare-themed named villains in the Onimusha series whom is the Genma's resident "Mad Scientist". In the original Onimusha game he was voiced by VA Michael Stark. (In which in retrospection its easy to tell that he is the same man who voiced Ludwing Von/Kooky Koopa in DiC's Super Mario animated shows.) While the voice acting in the original Onimusha wasn't that great I actually thought Michael Stark's handiwork as Guildenstern wasn't that bad really. Sure Michael Stark's Guildenstern voice is a bit goofy but its suitably high and it definitely suits on how Guildenstern is very much a mad scientist so its natural to go a bit over the top. Not the best "Mad Scientist" performance I have heard but its definitely one of the best performances in the original Onimusha. In Onimusha 3 (And Blade Warriors) he is voiced by VA Neil Ross whom was quite suitable for the role. Neil's Guildenstern voice is also fairly high and raspy but its not as high and Neil's work has a bit more menacing feel to it. But the voice direction for the 3rd game certainly did not forget that Guildenstern is still a mad scientist and it shows. (The only problem I had with Neil's work in at least Onimusha 3 is that sometimes the game plays Guildenstern's theme music so loud its sometimes hard to hear what he is actually saying.) Overall I like them both but I am going with Neil Ross the most though Michael Stark is a close second.
