One Piece One Piece

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Kohza with sound clips and images.
Franchise: One Piece

Kohza is a childhood friend of Vivi's. Kohza loves his country of Alabasta passionately, to the point that he leads the rebellion against King Cobra when they believe him to be corrupt. His heart is in the right place, but he can be short-tempered at times.

Jonathan Todd Ross voices Kohza in the 4Kids dub, while Todd Haberkorn does the deed in Funimation's dub.

Jonathan Todd Ross was pretty good, but maybe a bit too gruff. My vote goes to Todd.

I swear whoever is talking to Kohza is voiced by Luffy's voice actresses, I actually did think Luffy was talking to him until I read the manga at that point

Jonathan voice is OK, it fits the character and is a bit rough around the edges. Todd sounds more "natural" and puts more depth into his performance. With some better direction, Jonathan can be good too.

Haberkorn FTW. Interesting that JTR and Karen Neill(4kids Vivi) voiced Marik and Ishizu on Yu-Gi-Oh! respectively, who were also characters from a Middle Eastern background.

Jonathan Todd Ross - For what it's worth, Jonathan did an okay job in the voice department, though what made his performance fall apart for me was a couple factors:
1) His attempts at emotional delivery feel very controlled (especially since he tries to retain his gruff voice throughout)
2) The constant toned-down vocabulary in his lines, making the dialogue add to the feeling of restriction (though in his defense, this problem applies more to the script writers than the actor himself)

Todd Haberkorn - In comparison, Todd comes off as much more natural. Given the more free range (I hope I'm using that term right) of the direction, there's a better flow with how he performs. As for his voice, Todd's able to sound both serious and emotional at the same time without relying on the idea of gruff = stoic.

For having better direction and voice control, my vote goes to Todd Haberkorn

Jonathan sounds a bit too gruff for the part, but I do like his take. It has a certain freshness to it. I don't hear his voice and immediately think of another character.

Todd Haberkorn is as recognizable as ever, but I loved his Kohza. I think he did a better job of making Kohza endearing. He sounds more like a average guy pushed to the extreme of war.

I like both voices. However! I like the voice JTR used just a bit more.

Both are honestly pretty fitting, but I think I go with Todd Haberkorn, since I prefer his smoother take.

JTR is by no means bad, though, he's also pretty good.

I like the both of them, they fit Kohza well.

With that said I think Todd Haberkorn is a bit better since his voice is a lot smoother.

Jonathan Todd Ross is good but a bit too rough, then again he is leading a rebellion so a hardened voice makes sense.

Still I think Todd Haberkorn has a bit more passion in his take, so I'm going with him.

They're both standouts from their dubs if you ask me, and JTR is very underrated as a voice actor in general, but I think I prefer Todd's voice a little since he sounds a little smoother.

@Dr.Who Koza which I beleive the spelling was on the subbed so I beleive it to be the correct spelling I watch is more beleiable in Todd's version although Jon Todd wasn't bad.

The thing is this is a mentally scarred poletics role and not an evil dark pirates role and JTR would have been better suited for a pirate not a general of a Rebal Army.

Todd also sounds very close to the Japanese actor which is the one I like.

I 100% agree with plain Todd just about edging it because of this being an mentally scarred rebal army role rather than an evil pirate role which he sounds like here.

They are both decent, Jonathan is more hard edge while Todd is calmer

Yeah that's where i have to compare their voices from Jon and Todd:

#1) Todd Haberkorn: The way he performed his take on Kohza was excellent and his voice and acting speed was in-between fast and slow which perfected his overall performance.

#2) Jonathan Todd Ross: His on the other hand was slow and his performance was more on the side of reading than acting which to me needs to work up some more.

Overall, for me i'm definitely choosing Todd.

This is a toughie. Ross sounded more epic in this role, but Haberkorn fit the character a bit more. It's a tie for me.

While I can hear Watanuki in his take, I pick Todd. Him and Jonathan seem pretty underrated as actors.

Ross sounds more like a strong yet kind leader, Todd is alright but I don't believe him as the leader but more of a lackey or some other lower rank

@Music Meister Agreed. Todd sounds like how Kohza would naturally sound in everyday life, while Ross sounds like how he'd sound when speaking to his men of the rebellion.
