Franchise: One Piece

Coby is the first person Monkey D. Luffy befriended, was a former chore boy for the Alvida Pirates and trains with Helmeppo in the Marines. Coby was originally a coward before he met Luffy and since then has trained to become a braver more confident person.

In the English anime dub of One Piece Coby was first voiced by Kayzie Rogers in the 4Kids version and then Leah Clark in the Funimation version.

Leah Clark has a pretty good boy voice and her acting is very solid. Not much more to say other than she delivered a satisfying performance. Kayzie Rogers was okay voicing Coby, but she did make him pretty annoying whenever the character panics or shouts about something.

So I pick Lead Clark.

Both are actually really good as Coby. But Leah's acting is stronger overall so she's receiving my vote.

I love Leah's Coby. Her performance has a real endearing quality to it, and it fits tone and acting-wise.

Kayzie's take isn't as great, but it's solid nonetheless. A bit too nasally though.

Leah seems more fitting to me, despite being a little on the generic side.

I have never really liked Kayzie's nasally voices for kids, and this is a good example why I don't care for them much myself.

Leah fit the nerdy geeky navy kids guys role well but the voice was too low pictched for the age.

Kayzie fit the age pitch slightly better doing her Ash for this kid but still not quite high enough and the delivery was nazelly and not enough nerd in it so I think Leah wins for better delivery by default but a close call because of the pitch.

Neither of them do the Japanese version level justice in the role this time though.

Leah Clark sounds excellent in the role as well as more distinctive, unique and is very well acted.

Kazyie Rogers is alright but it reminds me too much of her other roles for my liking but she isn't bad by any means.

Leah gets my vote.

 2 Shout Outs!
1. Leah Clark: Clark's Coby voice isn't only boyish but it's very age appropriate, and it's very versatile especially when he screams in episode one.
2. Kayzie Rogers: Once again the Tuff voice doesn't work for every boy who is 10 and under.

Kayzie sounds too nasally and nerdy for me, but Leah sounds pretty good.

Can we get a clip of whoever plays him when he reappears at the end of Water 7?

I know that with better direction Kayzie could be perfect, Leah sounds kinda high

Leah Clark is excellent for the role

Now to await his return in this next set after being with Garp. I have to wonder if the voice will change much although it really didn't in the original.

@Fortenium It did, they casted a male to play him in his return to show that he grew.

@MegaAnimazing Funny enough I posted the original reply like a week before he reappears in the anime. My question got answered very quickly lol

They're both perfect, but Leah sounds more like a boy here. Kayzie Roger's take is very Nancy Carthwright-esque.

Kayzie Rogers is using her Tuff voice from the 4Kids dub of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! or her Max (or Mastermind Special Ash) voice from the PUSA/TPCi dub of Pokemon here. I'm going to be honest in that I do not like the voice she used for Coby much. That being said, it does fit the characters' wimpy nature pretty well.

I would say Leah Clark is much better and more distinctive though. There's more emotion.

@OldSchoolFTW I think Kayzie Rogers should have used this voice for Ash or Max, rather than Sarah as Ash and the more nasally take Kayzie ended up using for Max.

I like Kayzie Rogers' voice better, it sounds more masculine.

@Animefan98 Disagreed. Leah sounds more boyish to me.

Kayzie Rogers is just using her Tuff voice, its sort of fitting I suppose, but its not very distinct or memorable.

Leah Clark sounds a bit too high pitched, but otherwise the acting is pretty good, more emotional than the other one, at any rate.

I don't think either of them were THAT bad, but at the same time they weren't perfect. Still, I'm giving the edge to Leah Clark on this one, while Kayzie Rogers' nerdy tone somewhat fit, Leah's acting was a bit more convincing.

They should have asked Amy Birnbaum to voice Coby in the 4Kids dub it would have worked
but Leah Clark's voice fits the character much better than Kayzie Rogers

@MatthewC17 I was just going to metion that Amy Birnbaum would be perfect--using her Max voice, I could totally see it.
