Once again, I agree with the majority here, Chris Rager has the best performance overall of the three: he does sound a bit too similar to his Mr. Satan, but at least he comes across the most sadistic and ruthless.

I'd actually have picked David Wills...if that aquatic filter wasn't placed in his performance and he didn't have such a silly script to work with, unfortunately, both are very distracting.

Brian Zimmerman does an incredibly generic "monster" voice, that manages to make David Wills sound fantastic by comparison.

 1 Shout Out!
1. Chris Rager: Rager sounds the most menacing and his laugh for scenes like when Nami realizes Arlong betrayed her is excellent.
2. David Wills: Wills had potential and started off okay but he didn't need an unnecessary echo filter added to his voice.
3. Brian Zimmerman: Zimmerman sounds like a generic/stereotyped monster.

Chris Rager comes off as the most big, hate-filled, menacing and despicable.

David Wills, I'll admit I like his voice for Arlong, the effects on his voice give a nice aquatic gargle but I don't think it's the most fitting for the character.

Brian Zimmerman is just some generic monster voice.

I feel Chris Rager is the most fitting so I'll go with him but David is quite solid even if he isn't the most fitting.

It's not how I pictured him sounding, but Chris Rager's voice for Arlong grew on me. It really makes him come off as loathsome, monstrous, and just plain hateable.

@NoxiousSludge I also like David Willis just fine. He's closer to how I picture Arlong sounding, but unfortunately for him, his script was... less than subpar. "If you can't pay the cash, then you're out with the trash! AND FEEL FREE TO QUOTE ME!" anyone?

1) Chris Rager- Yes, I admittedly can see how people hear a bit of Hercule/Mr. Satan in his take, but he does the most well rounded performance in my book, he was subdued when needed, and could also be menacing when the time called for it. I think he could've sounded more distinct, but of the group, I'd go with him for the best.

2) David Wills- He definitely nails the intimidating factor, definitely one of the standout performances from that dub, but the dialogue he was given like, "If you can't pay the cash, then you're out with the trash," really did a number on his performance. The echo does add a menacing appeal, but at the same time his take felt exaggerated to me, and really lacked a more subdued delivery.

3) Brian Zimmerman- Can't really judge him from that little to go on, but he sounds like a generic monster based on this alone.

1. Chris Rager: Let's face it he had better vocal direction and no filter. His voice is menacing and at times very serious.
2. David Willis: The poor vocal direction or lack there of and the unnecessary filtering don't help and neither does the script.
3. Brian Zimmerman: I make it a point never to give an opinion for Odex voices. It is what it is.

I can't really take Wills seriously because of the cheesy lines xD

@HienFan I know it's next to impossible to find more lines for Odex Arlong(I only saw the one with that 'Octy' line) but I actually prefer him over Chris

I always thought Dameon Clarke or Travis Willingham would make the perfect Arlong, using a variant of their Semi-Perfect Cell voices. But alas, it didn't happen, even in Funimation's dub. Looking at it again, I think Brain Zimmerman sounds closest to how I imagine Arlong based on that one line. I'm going to be the only one voting for him.

Chris Rager was great in the role, sounding both threatening and like a complete ******* (with an epic evil laugh too), but everyone can hear Mr. Satan in this voice and it's pretty distracting.

I really don't buy David Willis as Arlong. He sounds bored and almost monotonous, the voice is too light for the character, he's more annoying than menacing, and that stupid aquatic filter in his voice was completely unnecessary.

@Damolisher Ironically, I always thought Arlong should have Cell's voice.

I think I prefer David Willis. His voice sounded a lot more interesting, menacing, and it REALLY makes you hate the character (as you're supposed to). Arlong is not just a villain, but also a cold douche bag, and I think David reflected this perfectly.

Chris Rager wasn't bad though. His voice certainly goes with Arlong's appearance, and he definitely sounds more monstrous, but it's nothing terribly memorable, and he basically just reuses his Hercule voice, and while it can make the character sound like a jerk as well, it doesn't fit as good as David's.

Brian just sounds like a monster (from the very brief clip).

@PurpleWarrior13 Disagreed about David Willis. He made me hate Arlong 'cause he sounded so annoying and wooden in the role. Chris at least sounded menacing and like a total douche.

I wish we could hear more of Brian's take. Though that one line sounds Cookie Monster-ish, he could very well be the best Arlong voice here.

@Galactic_Cyrus Both voices were effective, but I legitimately got a little angry every time David's Arlong spoke. The voice did get annoying, but I found it interesting. Don't get me wrong, the 4Kids version was bad, but it did have some great voices as well (Zoro, Nami, Chopper, Captain Morgan, Buggy, Arlong, Kaya, Kuro, Don Krieg, Nojiko, Crocodile, and Luffy wasn't terrible either), even if the FUNimation equivalents are mostly superior.

Rager's voice wasn't too interesting, but he did get the "angry douche" part of the character down great. I enjoy the performance. Just not as much as Willis'.

@PurpleWarrior13 Like I said before, I don't really fully agree with any Arlong voice here. I wish Dameon Clarke or Travis Willingham could have played the part.

I kinda wish there was a mix of David and Chris, Chris' deepness with Davi's effect and performance.
I guess I'll go with David who sounds more creepy

I actually really like David Willis' voice here, the echo just fits his monstrous appearance, it also kind of sounds like he's gargling which fits given how aquatic he looks. I also love the growl he adds, so even without the echo he still sounds really good.

Chris Rager sounds fittingly gruff, but I can't get Hercule/Mr. Satan out of my head when I hear his voice and as such I can't take his Arlong performance as seriously as I'm supposed to.

Brian Zimmerman is hard to judge given that he only says one word, but it doesn't sound too impressive...if a better clip surfaces I'll post again, to see if I change my mind on him or not, doesn't seem too promising though.

So with that said, I'm voting for David Willis, Chris Rager as a somewhat close second, and Brian Zimmerman last...for now at least.

@Metabad Another thing about David Wills was how exaggerated he pulls out his lines, something that the Japanese actor also did

Chris Rager's evil Mr Satan voice best suited the character. David Willis (who was great as Buggy) was wooden and unthreatening in the role. I can't fully judge Zimmerman but he sounds like Cookie Monster in that clip.

I call for a tie between David and Chris. I always thought Kirk Thornton would have a good voice for Arlong, but that's probably because he voices another shark man...

So I added Brian Zimmerman. Unfortunately all he says is one word "Octy" (A.K.A. Hatchi/Hatchan).

If anyone finds a longer clip I'll make sure it'll be used instead of the current clip.
