They all did a pretty good job at making Ryu sound like the serious ninja you'd expect him to be, though I favour Justin and Troy over Josh thanks to their deeper voices. It's a tossup between those two for me, though I slightly prefer Troy Baker in spite of his recognisability.

After replaying Ninja Gaiden 2 recently I'm changing my vote to Josh. He manages to bring the right balance of heroism and darkness to Ryu's character. I'd rank Justin at 2nd, he did well, but could have shown more emotion with specific parts.

I don't like Troy at all as Ryu. It's not even the fact that he sounds too recognizable as Ryu, my problem is he just sounds too generic and deep for Ryu. If he keeps voicing Ryu in future Dead or Alive games or Ninja Gaiden games I'd like to see him use the voice he used for Kouga Gennosuke from Basilisk.

@LordofEvil96 And who is the one who does the highest amount generic ninja voices for it to start? Guess, I didn't dislike it but I don't feel much for it either, Josh is perfect and Justin is good as well

Justin: Too high and plain

@rosebr10 I think Justin is okay enough but for Troy it's this same deal I feel when I feel that no.1 is the worst, I expected it and that's it, it doesn't give an original flavour, Josh got a serious voice but also a hint of youthfulness

I personally don't mind how recognizable Troy is because he still gives a great performance and his voice fits well. I also think Josh is pretty good. Justin just sounds boring to me.

I'm going with Justin. Josh I'd say was a good second. I don't hate Troy but he sounds too recognizable as Ryu.

I'm going with Justin Gross. Josh Keaton sounds pretty good, and while Troy is giving a passable performance, he's a little too recognizable.

1. Josh Keaton-I agree with Spider-Fox and akbar264 that his voice actually fits Ryu very well. I know he's a little light but we have to remember Ryu is portayed in his twenties. Your voice doesn't change that much until your thirties.

2. Troy Baker-He has the most emotion of any of them so far, especially in Ninja Gaiden 3. Spider-Fox put it best when he said Ryu is a archatypal Baker character but he's still great.

3. Justin Gross-His voice does fit Ryu, but he just sounds so bland.

Josh Keaton, his voice is the most natural and the darkness doesn't sound forced and there is some subtlety there

I honestly think Josh Keaton did the best. He just sounds the way Ryu should sound. He sounds the deepest but without overdoing it.

Troy Baker is second for me since, lets face it Ryu Hayabusa is a archatypal Troy Baker character but he doesn't sound as deep as Keaton.

Justin Gross set the standard for Ryu's voice and while I like him the least, I gotta say he didn't do that bad.

Meh. It's a bit hard for me to comprehend... But there's a reason for that: I've not much knowledge about Ryu's character, other than the fact that he's a ninja and appeared outside of the Ninja Gaiden series, only to the underrated DOA games... Which have characters who lack personality, and all the females have to have huge breasts! Jeeeezz!!! Ain't that a little too much to ask for, Tecmo? Or whoever develops the majority of the titles?

Anyway, while I do like Troy's performance, it was actually Gross and Hideyuki Hori who got me... They both did stellar jobs, to be honest. Keaton should just stick with Spiderman :/
