Voice Compare » Mortal Kombat » Shao Kahn
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Shao Kahn with sound clips and images.
Shao Kahn is one of the main antagonists of the Mortal Kombat series whom made his debut in Mortal Kombat 2. Shao Kahn is known as the Emperor of Outworld whom is very much a savage conqueror whom aspires to rule over Earthrealm but the Elder Gods will not allow him unless his side wins the Mortal Kombat tournament. Shao Kahn loves to show off how powerful he is and is incredibly arrogant however while he has plenty of brawn but he is also able to fully organize his plans for conquest as well and is quite knowledgeable in the dark arts of magic. Shao Kahn is known for fighting with his Wrath Hammer and a lot of his subordinates have a tendency to betray him (Shang Tsung being the most known example) but Shao Kahn has also been treacherous in the past as well.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Today we give this huge VC for the Emperor of Outworld himself... SHAO KAHN! Since this is such a huge VC I shall simply say that I liked Steve Ritchie and Bob Carter the most with Frank Welker and Nigel Casey close behind while the rest were just simply okay. (Though I think Michael Des Barres is probably the weakest here as his work on the role is not bad but it seems a bit too light compared to the others.) But still I am going with Bob Carter and Steve Ritchie (both clips) the most here.Pokejedservo

1. Bob Carter: A little Bojac-esque but he still sounds really evil and arrogant, almost as if Shao Kahn had the compassion sucked right out of him.
2. Steve Ritchie: He'll always be the original Shao Kahn, whether it's the early Mortal Kombat games or MK: Shaolin Monks he's a worthy second behind Carter.
3. Patrick Seitz: Patrick is pretty good at playing villain roles but here he's actually a little too low for Shao Kahn, the voice isn't bad but he's a little too deep.
4. Frank Welker: Despite what little screen time Shao Kahn had in the original Frank Welker did a good job, but what irritates me is that he rehashed his Dr. Claw voice. It's not bad at all, but Welker is a man of many voices, he could have tried something different or maybe try to impersonate Ritchie.
5. John Vernon: He has the evil part nailed but he doesn't sound very arrogant when compared to Carter or Ritchie.
6. Nigel Casey: Nothing special here, he sounds pretty generic and bored.
7. Michael Des Barres: He's too high for Shao Kahn and the accent he uses is unneeded.

Bob "Balrog" Carter is getting my vote here. He no doubt gives Kahn a strong sense of arrogance and an evil tone to go with.
I put him 1st with Steve Ritchie, Nigel Casey and Frank Welker close behind.
