Ah Gihren the corrupt eldest son in the Zab Family famous for the his powerful propaganda speeches, but were his english VAs able to make him sound confident, cocky, and evil enough?  Well let's take a look

In the VHS-only english dub of the Gundam 0079 movie trilogy Gihren was voiced by Doug Stone.  Now I had no problem with his performance in fact I thought it was one of the better performances in this dub (which felt like your standard mid-90s dub).  Even so this isn't one of his better performances overall, but this could be blamed by the weird script and bad voice direction the movie trilogy dubs were known for.  So given what he had to work with I thought he did a decent job here.

Now in the english dub of the Gundam 0079 TV series Bandai made a somewhat controversial change to Gihren's speech by changing "Sieg Zeon!" to "Hail Zeon!" But this personally never bothered me since Hiro Kanagawa did such an excellent job as Gihren.  Hiro fit Gihren perfectly giving his speeches sound as poweful as they are.  So overall both VAs fit the character in their own way, but Hiro Kanagawa's performance felt stronger.
