Last night, I thought of David Kaye as a potential casting choice for Thor.

Scott McNeil could also work if he used a more regal Silverbolt. Paul Dobson could work as well, using a more regal Beta Ray Bill.

VC thoughts update

Honestly, I like Vic Perrin the most in this role. His delivery is so majestic and godly and his voice does fit the God of Thunder perfectly, despite not being that deep.

John Rhys-Davies also works in his own way. He has a really godly and majestic voice and his delivery is awesome.

Matthew Wolf sounds pretty epic in the role. He really delivers an excellent performance.

Rick D. Wasserman is also pretty good. He has a nice godly voice and his delivery does sound majestic.

Travis Willingham is also pretty great in the role. He sounds pretty majestic, but he also seems to be having fun in the role.

I also like Dave Boat, Michael Adamthwaite, Jim Cummings, Chris Hemsworth and James Arnold Taylor in the role.

Chris Wiggins is a little bit better as Thor than as Donald Blake, but still, he doesn't hold up pretty well unfortunately.

Cam Clarke and Daniel Thorn don't leave an impression on me.

Travis is a fantastic choice to voice Thor, but they always direct him to sound cliche Shakespearean and outlandish.

I thought he was good in Lego Marvel, where his voice actually fit the design and tone, but the writing and direction of the other stuff prevents him from working.

I mean, he was Roy Mustang for Pete's sake, imagine if he could channel his rage and intensity from that role into Thor. He could possibly be the best.

"I am Thor Odinson of the Vikings, giant. I am not the god of reason and understanding. I am the god of Thunder and Lightning!!!

When it comes Avengers, I feel THOR deserves the prize for 'Most Magnificently Theatrical Member'.

Here are my Top 5 Favourite Thor Odinson Voices:

5. Michael Adamthwaite/ Cam Clarke
4. David Boat
3. John Rhys-Davies/ Matthew Wolf ('Thor: Tales of Asgard' Performance> 'Hulk Vs. Thor Performance' )
2. Chris Hemsworth
1. Rick D Wasserman

Future VA Suggestions:

Normally I try to avoid obvious Casting recommendations....... Buuuuuuuuuuut...... I recommend Dan Green. I believe his Entei or Atem voice would work REALLY well for Thor.....

For a More 'Original' Casting choice, I think Richard Armitage would be excellent as the God of Thunder, voicing him like a more Boisterous and Regal Thorin Oakenshield....

I also recommend Adam Croasdell, Nicholas Boulton, Matthew Macfadyen and John Gremillion.

" Indeed...but let them tremble when the clarion call sounds! The revelation of our very existence will strike like the mightiest thunderclap! Out victories shall be the stuff of legend! Our triumphs shall echo throughout the nine worlds -- 'tis endeavors such as these where the warrior ideals of god and man intersect to produce something greater than the sum of its parts. On this day, we have declared war...and we shall avenge the evils perpetrated by those who would oppose us. We shall...avenge them all."

As others said, Rick is the best. Travis is basically spot-on casting w/rather unfitting direction. I don't fault him for it, but as NCZ says "don't let a voice type ruin the performance.

Here, Travis's voice is *perfect*, but the direction is basically a Thor parody.

Chris Hemsworth is perfect in live-action, not quite an established VA but still pretty damn good, & it's great that he can switch from live-action pretty well.

Some other VA's that *haven't* been mentioned, who I'd like to voice Thor?

Paul St. Peter, Brian Bloom, & Jamieson Price.

Possibly Richard Epcar, Neil Kaplan, & Fred Tatasciore as well.

@huzaifa_ahmed Also, I think JAT shows promise. Not my first choice, but he's great at regal-sounding roles & under maybe better direction (?) I think he'd do really well.

When Earth's Mightiest Heroes premiered in 2010, one of the major instant standouts to me was Rick D. Wasserman as Thor, he just had this awesome deep heroic and yet noble sounding voice, a voice that could no doubt recite Shakespeare amazingly. My only previous exposure to Thor was from the Ultimate Avengers but it was here in this show that I became a fan of Thor. To me he sounds the most genuine, as this hearty yet compassionate warrior and god. Whenever I'm reading anything about Thor it's his voice I'm hearing.

My second favourite would be Chris Hemsworth. One of the few live-action actors who really has a voice that's fitting for voice acting. He's fantastic in live-action, he's able to make him a strong dignified warrior yet also can play him as a quirky fish out of water kind of character. He has a lot of funny moments as well as a lot of cool moments. He's a bit more solemn in his voice acting for the Thor game but I still really like it. ANOTHER!

David Boat would be third, he was the first voice I ever heard of and he plays him excellently in the Ultimate Avengers movies and the more goofier and cheesier Super Hero Squad Show portrayal.

Michael Adamthwaite is phenomenal too. He brings a very godly presence to his performance, though restricted by the movies portrayal of only having this one scene, I think if Michael reprise and voiced a more traditional version he'd be even better.

John Rhys-Davies bring a certain level of class to Thor and gives him a very noble and Shakespearean voice, he's excellent though I think I'd rather he should voice Odin instead.

Cam Clarke is a pretty fitting choice for Thor, he did well not much else to say about him.

I'm sorry but I don't really like Travis Willingham's portrayal and it's a shame since he could have been a great fit for Thor, I find he sounds too sterotypical and pretty much cliche sounding.

The rest of the voices here I'm not much fond of.

James Arnold Taylor sounds too royal and less godly.

Chris Wiggins does nothing for me.

Vic Perrin sounds too light.

Daniel Thorn's delivery and voice just sounds too slurred.

Jim Cummings is all wrong for the role, I'm afraid....with that said he'd make a far better Beta Ray Bill.

Overall I'm voting for Rick D. Wasserman.

BONUS: I think Jeff Bennett could pull off Thor, well he sorta voiced him OK he voiced Johnny Bravo who in one episode became Thor but seriously I could see him pulling off Thor. I could also see J. Michael Tatum being an amazing Thor too.

I'll be honest, when I first saw EMH, Rick D Wasserman take was jarring at first, probably due to how much deeper he sounds in comparison to Cam Clarke, who was my fave at the time EMH came out.

He's definitely grown on me tremendously, though, and I can't really decide between him, Cam, and Michael Adamthwaite(who sounds the most "godly" to me, but I'm not sure how much better he would do in Thor's more aggressive sounding moments). The three of them are just too good to pick a true favorite.

1. Chris Hemsworth
I know that voting live-action actor is kinda a tabu, but he is PERFECT! He has deep booming voice and there wasn't a single moment where I didn't buy his performance. Chris can be goofy fish-out-of-water, serious leader, brave warrior, noble superhero, short-tempered prince and wise ruler. In my eyes, Chris Hemsworth is God of Thunder.

2. Rick D. Wasserman
Like Music Meister said, Rick was able to play all the sides of Thor's personality and switch between them seamlessly. He also had some great chemistry with other cast members of EMH (especially with Eric Loomis and Fred Tatasciore).

3. David Boat
David had really cool voice and he did gave nice cheerful touch to Thor's personality, while also doing good job with more serious moments. I do wish that he had more royal - tone, but that's not a big problem.

4. Cam Clarke
Cam is maybe little bit too hammy, but Thor is very hammy character and he is clearly having a lot of fun with the role. He also captures the power and authority in Thor perfectly.

5. Matthew Wolf
Matthew seems to be the oposite of David. Matt does have royal - tone in his voice, but it is little bit too light and he doesn't feel strong enought. It of course doesn't help that he had to work on a movie where everyone seemed to have huge bias against Thor. Would love to see him get second chance with better script and director, but for now he is just barely above the average.

6. John Rhys-Davies
John's performance was actually pretty good, but his voice sounded too old. He probably would make better Odin.

7. Michael Adamthwaite
Michael's voice sounds suitably deep and royal, but his role was so small and most of his dialogue was just exposition, so he doesn't leave strong impact one way or another.

8. Travis Willingham
Travis isn't bad, per say, but something about his voice and delivery makes him feel more like parody voice rather than official one.

9. Daniel Thorn
Like other people have already said, Daniel's voice is fine, but his delivery sounds like he was drunk of his a** during the recording.

10. Chris Wiggins/Vic Perry
Both of them give OK performance, but their voices are too light and don't have much power behind them.

11. James Arnold Taylor
His accent is nice and kinda fits Thor... and that's the only good thing I can say about him. Still, I would be open to him reprising the role someday. James' Magneto in Battle for Earth was just awful, but when he later got to reprise the role, he easily became one of the best.

12. Jim Cummings
No, just... no.

My favorites are Rick D Wasserman, Chris Hemsworth and Travis Willingham.

Rick has a good deep and powerful voice but I did like his voice also made Thor gentle and kind, Rick could easily translate from one to another without it seeming odd.

Chris also had a good deep voice, it had a nice boom to it and that really helps make his Thor sound like the powerhouse he is but could still humanize and give him life, easily able to show off all the right emotions when needed.

Travis, while being a little lighter, has a good sense of charm and brings a good amount of humor which makes him incredibly likable, in Avengers Assembled he's so happy that its hard not to be happy with him. But Travis by no means makes Thor sound weak, easily fittin for when Thor needs to get serious and still fits for a powerhouse like Thor.

Of these three I'm unsure who to vote for as they are all amazing in their own ways.

Rick Wasserman is what I image Thor would sound like. Chris Hemsworth is a close second.

John Rhys-Davies sounded good, too. He has a great voice. But, perhaps he sounds a bit older than the character should?

Cam Clarke sounds alright. Nothing stellar, but passable. I'll say the same for Dave Boat and Matthew Wolf. Wolf sounds pretty good with the yell at the end of the clip.

James Arnold Taylor is too light and Jim Cummings(I think his clip is broken, I only hear him say "surrender") is a miscast.

Travis Willingham has a good voice for Thor, but the character is sometimes handled so weirdly on these new series. It's not something I can fault Travis for.

Michael Adamthwaite is good for and older, wiser version and Chris Wiggins is good for an old timey voice for him.

...Gotta admit...

Thor's had it pretty well with VAs. Travis Willingham does a good job at the haughty, more prideful Thor; Chris Hemsworth is great as always; David Boat did a very good job, even as a more comical Thor... but, in the end, the ultimate winner for me is...

Rick D. Wasserman.

He nailed the prideful warrior and the princely sides of Thor, but also the noble side, better than the other VAs. He also did a great job with Thor's more emotional scenes, and his battle cries never felt too strained or forced.

Now comes the part where I make my own suggestion, and I have to say, picking someone who could potentially equal Rick D. Wasserman was not easy... if ever he returns to the voice over scene, I would love to see Dan Green voice Thor. Something very similar to his Pharaoh Atem voice (deep, commanding, powerful and very kingly; but also capable of softer gentle moments, just as easily as it is capable of anger and pride) would be great for Thor, and could even equal Wasserman's take for me.

Chris Hemsworth actually sounds the best to me. He sounds very human to me in a way that the others simply do not. There's something about his performance that seems real to me, like he could be standing right next to me, as the character in the flesh while the others just sound like voice-actors in a gig.

Rick D Wasserman sounds pretty good too and he would be my second place, but Chris's work sounds a bit more grounded and genuine to me for some reason. Plus, I am always happy when a celebrity does a VO job and doesn't phone it in, that's a quality I admire in an actor and from what I can tell he certainly did not phone-in his performance.
said at 6:49 PM on Mon Apr 22 2013
I like James Arnold Taylor's Thor, but it has the inverse of the problem I have with Travis Willingham's Thor.
I think Travis lacks the princely quality that Thor should have as the future King of Asgard
JAT on the other hand sounds a bit too regal for Thor.
However both are still very good and ultimately tie for my number 2 spot. (#1 being Rick D. Wasserman)

I can't really pick a definitive winner, but Cam Clarke, Rick D. Wasserman, and Chris Hemsworth are the best to me.

I thought Rick D. Wasserman really nailed Thor, so I'm going with him. That said, Chris Hemsworth, David Boat, Matthew Wolf, and Jim Cummings were good, too.

@Anicomicgeek Travis Willingham was okay, but Rick D. Wasserman was still better, so I'm gonna stick with Wasserman.

Maybe its because I grew up with him, but Chris Wiggins has an Awesome Voice for this charactor. I was pretty let down, with the Marvel Thor's voice in the blockbuster this summer 2011

ok then I'll add the clip and credit Vic Perrin. If for some reason it's not... well it can always be changed I guess. :D

I play the clip where Thor speaks of Asgard, and I played the voice compare to Perrin's Sinestro. I think the two sound exactly the same. My guess would be Vic Perrin voiced Thor

dtemplar has helped with a link to a vid of Thor in Amazing Friends. though we're having trouble finding a credit to any actor.

Awesome compare Jackson_H!! To me, the stand out voice is David Boat. He did what the others didn't and that was bringing a powerful yet majestic voice to Thor as well as make his speech patterns sound like he comes from another world and time.
