Voice Compare » Mighty Thor » Balder
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Balder with sound clips and images.
(Note: Travis Willingham did not voice Balder in the episode "Lo, How the Mighty have Abdicated" in The Super Hero Squad Show as Balder never actually appeared in the episode.)
Balder is one of the Asgardian heroes in the Mighty Thor series who made his comic book debut in Journey Into Mystery #85 in October of 1962. Balder is the son of Odin and Frigga, the half-brother of Thor (and adoptive brother of Loki) and is good friends with all of Thor's allies in Asgard. Like many other Asgardians Balder is a strong and skilled warrior as he is known as "Balder the Brave" who is also practically immortal thanks to the spells that Frigga has cast upon him. Similar to the story of the fact that Amora the Enchantress is known for being in love with Thor, Karnilla the Queen of Nornheim also has unrequited romantic feelings for Balder, however unlike Amara and Thor, Balder has no interest in Karnilla and it pretty much stayed that way.

EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Mighty Thor VC section we take a look at Thor's kinder brother... BALDER! Let us begin...Dave Wittenburg- While Dave's voice does seem a bit light compared to most of his predecessors it does genuinely work for a warrior from a Realm based off of Norse Mythology. Dave's performance was very good as it does suit Balder's Warrior side very well and its a pretty good example of his work and an alright example of the voice work in the game.
Michael Adamthwaite- Michael's voice for Balder suited the role very well as Michael's somewhat deep voiced felt manly yet gave it a suitably regal feel. Michael's performance was also very good as lets just say it does suit Balder's reputation as "Balder the Brave" rather well. So in other words it was a fine example of Michael's work and is a good example of how a VA can deliver a very good performance even if their role had only a few lines.
Nolan North- Nolan's voice was also a pretty natural choice for the role as while Nolan goes for a somewhat thicker accent than the others Nolan does a good job in making it work. Nolan's performance is also pretty good as Nolan does give a more somber performance that still does suit a loyal warrior like Balder well and is a pretty good example of Nolan's work on the show.
James Hampshire- This one was a mixed bag as James' moderately high British-accented voice did seem a bit jarring as James voice and performance for the role doesn't seem to fit Balder at all at first. But to be fair James' take on Balder certainly fits this take on the role rather well as a rather angry warrior who will gleefully taunt Loki due to his inevitable defeat at the hands of Thor. So in other words James take on Balder does at least suit this story's take on the role well enough so I can't really fault James for that though.
Overall none of these guys are bad for the role but I will go with Michael and Nolan the most here.

James Hampshire would have fit Loki better.

@pete What's scary is that the face reminds me of Loki for some reason. O_O

All four are good as Balder, but I'm gonna go with Nolan North as I think he was the best.
