Lucas Gilbertson to this day is still the best Zero. He just completely nails the emotional moments and has some solid delivery to boot.

Jack Merluzzi's voice is amazingly deep (probably because they edited it as some have said) and his delivery can be wonky (which is usual for Japan-English dubs) but I think it's one of the better performances from X7.

Johnny Yong Bosch I'm sadly not caring for. He's a nice choice but unfortunately the material he gets is incredibly mediocre and does him no favors. His acting's good as always but in terms of his Zero it feels less Zero, more Ichigo or some of his other characters.

I suppose he would fare better with a full Mega Man game as Shaun Ince has said.

Rino Romano sounds too high pitched and Wayne Doster is just p*ss awful giving an incredibly annoying, whiny sounding performance plus some shockingly bad delivery.

I think JYB needs a full fledged Mega Man game to voice Zero with better material. In comparison to the other characters in Marvel vs Capcom 3, he wasn't given the best material. Same goes for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite too.

If that was to happen, I'd like JYB a lot more.

Speaking of Lucas Gilbertson, I wonder what it would have been like if he was in the Marvel vs Capcom games as Zero.

@Shaun Ince

I agree on your suggestion with JYB being a much better Zeo that the other choices that they had to voice the character. If there was a Anime version of Zero then I would suggest Johnny to voice the character. That would be a great material to work with.

Lucas Gilbertson: A spectacular fit. Emotional, hot-blooded, and has the right passion in his delivery.

Jack Merluzzi: While his Steve Blum-esque voice is a bit too deep and the delivery isn't always perfect, I think Jack's performance proved to be stronger than the rest of the cast in X7. Definitely a pleasant surprise.

Johnny Yong Bosch: He fits the character well, but the casting choice doesn't really leave a huge impression. His delivery and acting are good, but I'm reminded too much of Ichigo and other characters he's voiced in the past.

Rino Romano: Too high-pitched and the performance doesn't leave much of an impression.

Wayne Doster: Sorry to say he's a complete miscast in this role and easily the worst performance in X4(IMO). Too whiny, over-the-top, and the delivery is downright cringeworthy.

My vote goes to Lucas.

His fan redub of Iris's death scene proved that with the proper direction (which the games did not have) he's a VERY good voice for the character.

1. Lucas Gilbetson- He fits this role so well, that if i had a nightmare or fever dream with Zero in it, i would so picture the character talking with his voice. Not much else i can say tho, everyone else beat me to the punch.

2. Jack Merluzzi- Alarmingly deep, sure, but he gives a decent performance and manages to keep him interesting. I could listen to that voice all day, holy cow that is deep. You know what they say about different strokes.

3. Johnny Yong Bosch- This is why i'm not down with most of the fan-castings on the site. Just because somebody sounds like the type and is very credible does not mean the role will be nailed. Ichigo Kurosaki's performance belongs to Ichigo Kurosaki. And look, i know JYB isn't known for doing a billion different voices and the director Taliesin Jaffe or a producer was probably the one at fault here, but this is a voice compare not circumstance compare or an actor judgment. If you ask me, he's neck and neck with Jack not Lucas.

4. Rino Romano- He's not a bad actor, really. His voice is just a slightly younger, better-acted version of that "death can be a beautiful thing...uhh..." guy from Dynasty Warriors 3. Just kind of obnoxious in a way, i can see why the only rankings here that don't put Doster last are the ones that put him last.

5. Wayne Doster- First name "Zero", last name "Talent". I've dug up some stuff on the guy and apparently not only does he do commercial narration using this exact voice, but he also runs an agency. I like his Astro Man and i guess his Mookie Carver. Was his nerdy voice is very uncool and his performance not only brings the game down a notch, but i take him so unseriously that i will often come to this page and listen to those stupid line-rides and laff. I mean, Jesus, the only way i could see myself adding anyone below him is if Zero showed up on Captain N: The Game Master.

Lucas for sure! He not only captured Zero's brooding and serious personality, but added even more depth to his character, making him light-hearted and kind at times (this is especially true for the Day of Sigma OVA). He made him three dimensional and not a stereotypical serious character.

As much as I love JYB, he just comes off as generic and sounds mostly like Ichigo , and then Sasori when he says "How boring". His performance doesn't add to Zero's character like Lucas did and made him the typical serious, no-nonsense, cool guy like in the original Mega Man X1.

I'm not gonna comment on the others since they're so hilariously bad. Especially Wayne Doster.

JYB didn't get much to work with outside of intros and outros though, so he didn't get the chance to express as much personality. Just saying.
said at 6:42 PM on Wed Jul 19 2017
@GreenGoblin75 That's true. I hope that since Marvel Infinite will have a story, JYB will have better stuff to work with this time around. Hopefully the script will explore the non-serious side of Zero.

1. Lucas Gilbertson:

The best, hands down: he gives Zero the most depth and makes him have a smooth, yet deep, voice.

2. Johnny Yong Bosch:

Like I said on the Brock comparison earlier, he's tolerable/alright and he suits the role, but he's really nothing special in the part to me, he comes off as plain & generic.

3. Rino Romano:

This is too high pitched to me and a bit flat, but he shows some promise if given more time in the part.

4. Jack Merluzzi:

This performance, on the other hand, is way too deep and rough.

5. Wayne Doster:

He's honestly laughable at best and his delivery is poor.

Yeah, voting for Lucas Gilbertson for this one. He delivers the best performance overall.

JYB, while fitting, doesn't sound very distinct in this role. It's a rehash of the voice that he uses for most of his characters. Which at times really gets annoying. I don't hear Zero in MvC3, I hear Ichigo.

Jack Merluzzi is way too deep. Rino Romano, decent voice, but perhaps bad direction?

Wayne Doster. Fits the so bad, it's good category. Hilarious in every sense of the word.

@Shaun Ince I agree that Gilbertson has the best performance out of all here.

But I keep hearing that Jack Merluzzi is "way too deep" & yeah, I agree, he sounds gnarly af, like Wolverine on steroids.

But something has to be said for the consistency of Ryotaro Okiayu's rather deep voice the Japanese directors have kept for Zero.

He doesn't sound as gnarly as Merluzzi, to be sure, as that sounds rather villainous.

Rather he sounds young despite the actual voice being quite deep.

I think someone like Dan Green, Travis Willingham, Patrick Seitz, Chris Terglaferia (smoother, softer voice), or Matthew Mercer (in a slightly lower register) would be quite a good fit for Zero.

I wouldn't anything like Merluzzi's creepy-ass voice for Zero, & I don't mean to take away from the more tenor trend that the English casting directors have going on, but I just wanted to point out how Capcom seems to do it in their own language (after all, voice types arent restricted by language).

Though there are clearly some screwups by people who "went by the original". aka Kris Zimmerman's castings for Megaman & LAN/Net in Onimusha 3's dub. jeez

Lucas Gilbertson to me sounds the most distinct and fitting for Zero. A youthful, brooding and badass voice/performance.

Johnny... honestly comes off as rather generic to me. I mean he does a fine job with what he was given, but he's not as memorable as Lucas.

Jack is too deep, but MAN, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love how the voice itself sounded.

Rino Romano... What happened here? Hearing him as Spiderman AND Batman, I just KNOW he could've done this role justice. I'm definitely gonna say he was misdirected as Zero.

Wayne Doster is absolutely hilarious.
said at 7:53 PM on Tue Aug 30 2016
@Zillah Aside from what I said to Shaun (i.e. on Capcom's consistently using a low baritone actor in the sub, & IMO the dub should take that into account), & that Jack could have done a much better job in a smoother, younger-sounding register...

I really think Rino Romano as Batman would make a great Zero.

I also think a teenage voice from Brian Bloom (or Dan Green!) would work very well.

1. Lucas Gilbertson: The voice fits the personality perfectly, in my opinion. Listening to his redubs of cutscenes from Mega Man X4 makes for a great showcase of his emotional range. Without a doubt, my favorite.

2. Johnny Yong Bosch: From what little we've seen, I'd say he did pretty well, and I certainly wouldn't complain if he performed the role in future productions.

3. Rino Romano: Doesn't quite feel fitting, but it definitely could have worked.

4. Jack Merluzzi: Far too deep, and not enough emotion.

5. Wayne Doster: The voice is ok, but the acting is absolutely terrible. His performance deserves the infamous reputation.

Lucas Gilbertson most definitely played Zero best. I think he was perfect in this role from beginning to end. His voice strikes a nice balance of cool and youthful and yet deep, brooding and passion. It's not a surprise this is his most famous role.

Johnny Yong Bosch is serviceable as Zero despite being rather generic. If he actually voiced him in a game that Zero got to show off more emotional range, I think he could have been really good.

Rino Romano could have been great under better direction.

Jack Merluzzi sounds way too gruff and grimdark for Zero, I will say its a great voice though.

Wayne Doster is pitiful sounding, his delivery of "What AM I FIGHTING FOR!" is so laughably bad it's almost kind of good. When Lucas re-dubbed that scene with his bff Carol-Anne Day now that was how you actually do it.

Lucas is really the one who makes Zero shine, the rest are serviceable at best or ill-fitting and just don't do it the same way Gilbertson does and thus he gets my vote.

Lucas gave Zero the most depth and character, as well as a memorable and distinct voice.

Johnny recycling his Ichigo voice again...yeah, once again "another soulless copy" from Bosch. It's passable, but not very distinct from his other roles.

Jack has a pretty deep voice...booming, though, I guess it's okay.

Rino is a good voice actor, but here, he sounds really "pitiful" in the role and miscast.

Wayne is utterly grating and annoying when he's screaming or shouting, but sounds a bit feeble otherwise.

My current recap of my opinion towards these 5 voice actors of Zero:

Rank #1) Lucas Gilbertson - I'll admit that he had a decent start up in Mega Man X Command Mission, but fast forwarding to Maverick Hunter X he really pushed his uniqueness to Zero to an awesome level of his performance and tone for me.

Rank #2) Johnny Yong Bosch - In my opinion about Johnny's take on Zero, sounds quite like Ichigo, but his performance sounds more Japanese-esque and outright well performed, but i'll say that he's not on the level of what Lucas ever give to Zero himself, yet at the very least his is miles better than these two amateurs with the exception of this guy i was about to rank below to Johnny.

Rank #3) Rino Romano - This guy has potential to make it work as Zero in a form of Mega Man Zero style, but in the end his tone of what Zero has right now doesn't even work on his favor and right now he should even work for Blue Ocean to voice him again with better direction no contest about it.

Rank #4) Jack Merluzzi - Just to hear him here and now i honestly don't think that he should have a deep type voice when he should've put up with his performance in a moderate tone right up there with the likes of Johnny and Lucas, but no that's not what Zero sounds like from here.

Rank #5) Wayne Doster - And last, yet least, this guy Wayne is by far the most miscast voice actor i've ever seen as such, his performance is downright annoying and his tone is really lacking as i would've thought before making his delivery awful, yet then again his in-game voice sounds little better but not by much.

For this i mentioned, i keep my vote for Lucas Gilbertson no one else can replicate the way he does it, even Johnny.

Lucas Gilbertson's clip doesn't reflect him at his best. His best other than the redub of Iris's Death in X4 is Command Mission X:

Nothing more to say really, he embodies Zero so well.

Jack Merluzzi wasn't great but he was at least decent in the ending, he was just too deep and his acting wasn't the greatest.

Then we get to Johnny Yong Bosch who is terrible as he is lacking substance with this character and doesn't show any more emotional range than stoic or "cool". This isn't Zero, this is some "badass" fan character.

The other two I didn't name are even worse.
said at 2:17 PM on Sat Jul 18 2015
@Silly Sally I find Johnny a decent choice, but all i hear nothing more than a vocal offspring varient of Ichigo and Lucas' Zero jambled up which i'm totally in-different with and you got to admit that the way he pronounce the kanji esque attacks are alot more.

Whatever it's your opinion, and i'll admit that while Johnny's take on Zero isn't my favorite, i don't hate how he does either.

#1. Lucas Gilbertson.
Lucas had that surfer tone in Command Mission, and a bit of it still in X8. But by Maverick Hunter X, he perfected the role. The clips here simply don't do him justice. The tone, the pitch, the emotion, it's all there. He IS Zero.

Lucas loves the role of Zero so much, that he's actually very active in the MegaMan community, redubbed a scene from X4 (Which was top-notch I might add) and is doing Zero for the fanmade X9. For FREE. That alone makes him better than Johnny Yong Bosch, who comparatively, doesn't give a crap about Megaman at all.

#2. Johnny Yong Bosch
I feel like the only reason he's winning the poll is for his other voice work. Or it could just be that, when comparing his voice to what they chose for Lucas, some might think he's better. I still disagree. He sounds too much like a teenager, and he's using the same voice he does for everything.

Overall, it sounds like he listened to Lucas's version, and half-assed a recreation of it. There's just not enough heart in his performance. Listen to the middle and later half of his clips. Where's the coolness factor? It's not the voice I'd want doing Zero's badass one-liners. But I guess it's still pretty good. It just sounds half-hearted. As he says at the beginning: "Another soulless copy."

#3. Jack Merluzzi.
His clips here aren't fair, they make him sound terrible. Really, he's the best voice in X7, tied with Walter Roberts's Sigma. If you listen to him while you're playing, he can sound pretty badass at times. The only problem is that his voice is waaaaaay too deep, and in cutscenes, he can sometimes sound pretty monotone. Overall, it's honestly not that bad.

The other two are so terrible I can't even say much. I think Wayne is marginally better than Rino, because jesus christ.

@Metabad Well, there's this magical newfangled invention called /opinions/, where people can believe and prefer different things than you do. Shocking, I know.

Sorry, but seriously. This kind of ragging on opinions annoys me so much. There's also the fact that JYB is a veteran VA, and imo, has better delivery than the other VAs, on account of that great experience. And there's something about Gilbertson, to me, that almost connects, but fails, coming off as a little amatuerish and trying too hard to sound dark and deep that doesn't quite sound genuine.

Still, even though, we disagree, I'm not typing up 'Geeze, it's sad all these people aren't voting JYB just because he's the most famous voice on here. Stop being hipsters, JYB is OBVIOUSLY the best, you shouldn't say they are the best cause you're trying to be different from the crowd'. It's opinions on voice acting. There's no need to go acting like anyone who goes with a popular voice is nothing but an uneducated plebeian sheep.

said at 3:54 PM on Sun Sep 28 2014
@TheUltimatePhantom1 That they're subjective? Note the peperring of 'imo's and 'to me' instead of saying 'it's a fact Gilberson sucks'. And even then, my opinion is just on the VA, instead of ragging on the people who voted for the VA. And 'Geeze, it's sad all these people...' isn't meant to be a real opinion, it's satire reflecting the other comment, hence the quotation marks.
said at 7:02 PM on Thu Nov 13 2014
@Bookman230 "Well, there's this magical newfangled invention called /opinions/, where people can believe and prefer different things than you do. Shocking, I know.

Sorry, but seriously. This kind of ragging on opinions annoys me so much."

I'm late to respond, I know, but it's fine. There are numerous times I've felt like saying that exact same thing to other people in the past who've ragged on me for my opinion.

Sorry if I was out of line there, but what really got me was the statement of him having the best performance, when really my main problem with JYB's take on Zero is that there's no real context to any of the lines he says.

Oh sure he says things like "Mission accomplished, returning to base." or "Found a Maverick, I'll take care of it!" but they don't really mean anything coming from Zero in that game. To be fair it is a fighting game and you can't really expect much else context, but the fact that he's winning kind of baffles me. There's really no development or any other aspect that represents his character all that well there, whereas Lucas Gilbertson had three entire games to work on the voice, had multiple chances to develop the character and find just the right voice for him, and IMO absolutely perfected it in Maverick Hunter X. His death scene at the hands of Vile nearly made me cry due to how emotional his performance was there, and I'd say while it took him a while to grow into it, I've come to associate him the most in the role and it's evident to me that he cares a great deal about the character especially with him redubbing the infamous X4 scene.

What else gets me is that other people seem to be voting for Johnny just because he could be good, in some cases I guess I can see where they're coming from, but I don't quite think that warrants a vote for just one minor appearance in a fighting game over someone else who had three entire games and an OVA's worth of experience voicing the character.

I think I should get this out there though; I don't hate Johnny Yong Bosch at all, I LOVED him as Vash the Stampede personally, and I'm not even nearly as sick of his voice being "over exposed" as some other people are. It's just because of the factors above that I disagree on him being the best Zero and I just wanted an explanation on why Johnny Yong Bosch has the best performance explained better, because...I mean seriously, what performance? They're just throwaway lines in a fighting game at best. Still if Lucas' voice doesn't work for you, that's absolutely fine, I disagree of course but I'm not going to hold it against you.

So yeah, my apologies for coming across like a spiteful a-hole, I should've explained myself better in the first place.

1 Lucas Gilbertson Maaan I love that voice, Gilbertson is a great actor
3 Ryotaru Okiayu- Too deep and not really my type during his normal voice but when he gets more emotional he does it really well
4 Wayne Doster- He sounds okay, WUT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOR aside
5 Jack Merluzzi- It says too deep when you're deeper than Ryotaru Okiayu

Lucas Gilbertson is so high above every other VA here it's not even funny. I mean yeah, JYB is a good VA, but not a good VA for Zero from MMX. Stick to Zero from Code Geass. And the other 2... well... I don't even know what either of them are fighting for.

I'm sorry, but I don't like any of these voices of Zero. I prefer Zero in Japanese. Wayne Doster is so horrendous, and is like one of the worst VAs I've heard. Also, JYB? Seriously?

@SombraMan So who would you pick?
said at 2:03 PM on Fri Jan 10 2014
@SombraMan While I disagree with you, Ryōtarō Okiayu makes a damn fine Zero.
said at 12:32 PM on Wed Jan 15 2014
@Aussieroth I would pick Ryotaro Okiayu being the best Zero.
said at 3:48 AM on Fri Jan 17 2014
@SombraMan But if it were up to you, who would you chose as an English voice? I'd go with either Roger Craig Smith or Troy Baker.

If Zero.EXE was to have a voice, Jamieson Price would be awesome as Zero.EXE, he voiced Rider from Fate/Zero, Reeve Tuesti, and Priam from Fire Emblem Awakening.

 10 Shout Outs!
1) Lucas Gilbertson: THE voice of Zero. Nonchalant, cocky, very fitting for the laid-back but confident hunter.

2) Johnny Yong Bosch: Kind of fitting, but it'll have to grow on me. He sounds too much like Ichigo to really fit with Zero to me. I heard a whole compilation of his MvC3 voice clips and was expecting a "Getsuga Tensho!" in there.

3) Jack Merluzzi: I would honestly pick him over Wayne any day. He sounds bored in all of his lines, and a little too...I dunno how to word it. It's like they were trying to go for Ryutaro Okiyau's voice in English.

4) Wayne Doster: Whiny pubescent teenager does not a Zero make. And this guy voices Duo from Megaman 8, keep this in mind. Duo sounds pretty good. Zero...nope.

Just my opinions.
said at 9:03 AM on Wed Oct 2 2013
@Unoria The only thing I disagree with is Duo sounding pretty good, I've always imagined Duo with a MUCH deeper voice, whereas Wayne just sounded way too high pitched and stilted.

Other than that though, agreed with you 100%, took the words right out of my mouth.
said at 1:21 AM on Wed Nov 13 2013
@Unoria I mostly agree with you. But I personally think that if Lucas had voiced Zero in MvC3 that Zero would have felt a little bland compared to the other characters. Johnny's approach to the character was more fitting for a fighting game like MvC where adrenaline is pumping non-stop, and a character who might usually be fairly chill and aloof is now far more energetic and ready to brawl.
Don't misunderstand, I love Lucas as Zero. I think he's the perfect fit for Zero in the X series. However, I think Capcom made a good choice in having JYB voice him in MvC, as Johnny tends to play more high-energy characters. So, for me, Johnny Yong Bosch & Lucas Gilbertson tie for #1.

Johnny Yong Bosch and Lucas Gilbertson are my favorites!
Johnny Yong Bosch-gives the perfect performance, all feeling, energy, and personality is in his one performance as Zero. Also, This was actually the first time I ever learned of Johnny Yong Bosch I have Zero to thank for that.
Lucas Gilbertson-He shows how nonchalant and professional Zero truly is. I have played Megaman X Command Mission and X8 and loved his performances in those growing up.
In the end, I hope to hear both actors in the future in Megaman X and even Megaman Zero.

1.Johnny Yong Bosch: He deserves my vote. Since I like how he portrayed the character. He kicked ass with character so well In my opinion. All around I think he makes a good Zero and hope he'll voice him again in the future later down the road.

2.Lucas Gilbertson: My 2nd favorite voice for Zero, because I thought he fit the character really well. So nothing else I have to say.

3.Jack Merluzzi: Honestly, I think it felt too deep. In the end he did a decent job.

4.Wayner Doster: His voice is severely unfitting for Zero and feels out of placed for him. I just think the voice is horrendous.

Repeating what MegaMacTV said on another page, Merluzzi's clip is definitely lower than what it actually is.

My redone opinion.

Wayne Doster- The voice is fine, it sounds a little like Matt Hill to me, but the acting...bleh. It's so bad its funny.

Jack Merrluzzi- it's too deep but between him and Wayne I'd go with him. I think I would get use to his voice while Doster I would just always laugh.

Lucas Gilberston- My favorite, he has a calm collected feel you would expect from a professional Mavrick Hunter, he also had an experience feel without sounding too old. Plus he did well in serious moments and his chemistry with X was nice.

Johnny Young Bosch- He's alright. He makes Zero sound mad all the time. On top of that he sounds hot headed and rash and lacks the professional feel that Lucas did. Though in his defense he didn't get much to work with and might have been better with real dialog. To be fair he is second in my ranking (though considering the other two that really isn't saying much)

Doster: The voice is OK if a bit high but the acting... In all honesty, I actually really love this performance for that very reason!

Merluzzi: The acting's iffy and the voice is too deep, but it was alright. With the music playing I was somehow reminded of Peter Cullen which is never a bad thing.

Gilbertson: Not good but not really bad either. I'm not very fond of his take.

Johnny Yong Bosch: His voice works well even if it is the same one he usually always uses so why change it? His acting gets my vote, even if he does always sound angry.

Doster: The voice works, but his

Merluzzi: He tried a little too hard to sound like Ryotaro Okiayu and...well....he sounds ancient.

Gilbertson: He sounds like a surfer dude sometimes, but when it counts, he delivers.

Bosch: Hi. I'm Johnny Yong Bosch.

Sadly, Bosch takes the cake here no matter HOW MANY hate him.

And just so you know, Bosch as Renton and Sasori, now compare that to Zero/Ichigo/Lelouch/Yukimura. Try saying he's got no range now.
said at 3:20 PM on Wed Oct 19 2011
@Belial Edge I'll be honest: I, for one, DO NOT hate renowned voice actors such as Bosch, himself. My problem is VA talent akin to his kind is that they get waaaaaaay too much of a fanbase and are seemingly overhyped. However, I think the majority of his own roles anyway sound technically the same, with at least a few exceptions (Almaz is a nice example of this)

Maybe I could've voted for Gilbertson, if I had the chance. In fact, I can switch my vote if I want... But this won't slide, and I do know JYB more than Lucas.

P.S. I still think that Zack was the best Black Power Ranger!

@Ninjaman15 Huh, that's true, but I think they should've decided on Bosch along on Zero sadly, even though it's like "UGH ANOTHER ZERO." Bosch's voice really did fit in with that, it's not about extending his roles, it's more about him making Zero sound better.

Yeah, he's got alot of roles and TOO MUCH at times, but Quinton Flynn and Monica Rial are around Bosch's age and also have pigeonholed roles. And yet they have MUCH less of a hatedom despite those two having WAY MORE roles than Bosch himself.

@Belial Edge Monica Rial is around the same age but Quinton Flynn on the other hand isn't. Overall yes I agree on all counts.

@Belial Edge I think it's mostly because Johnny Yong Bosch gets a lot of main character roles. Quinton Flynn and Monica Rial have some important characters on their resume, but few of them are the stars.
said at 6:23 PM on Sun Dec 4 2011
@Beliail Edge & Ninjaman15 Like I said, the Studiopolis cast is just plain overused in the American voice-over industry. It's a shame really; there are several other English-recording studios for us to use, such as FUNimation, Ocean Group, Blue Water, and heck, even 4Kids.
said at 12:17 AM on Mon Dec 5 2011
@pokemastanumba1 FUNimation still gets plenty of work, granted mostly in anime and some Video Games.

Sadly Ocean Group and Blue Water get used less nowadays because due to the currency exchange rates Canadian currency is worth more than American. In other words it can be too expensive for American companies to use Canadian talent. Though Capcom does have their new studio in Vancouver but its uncertain if Capcom would ever use it for a project other than a Dead Rising 2 game.

As for New York VA talent well 4Kids is pretty much dead, at least they occasionally get used in other productions such as Anime English dubs and occasionally in Marvels Motion Comics.

@pokemastanumba1 Besides, MVC3 isn't a Studiopolis job anyway. New Generation Pictures handled it. They also did Street Fighter IV.

#1 Lucas Gilbertson
His slick-talking attitude and easygoing personality both work well in the chemistry between Zero and other characters in the series. Most of all, he did the best in giving Zero the balance to sound calm even in the most dire situations. The slight English accent was a nice touch!

#2 Johnny Yong Bosch
He did well with what little he had, and I would definitely like to hear more of him as Zero in a bigger and more serious role. To be fair, I can't give him the benefit of the doubt, nor do I think he really deserves to have the majority of votes like he does here, but I'll say he worked well.

#3 Wayne Doster/Jack Merluzzi
Both were so horrible I can't say which one was worse. XP

Not the first time Johnny was a character named Zero (anyone get the reference?) Anway Jonny did a alright job but I think I like Lucas a little better. The other two just plain suck.
said at 11:51 AM on Fri Jul 8 2011
@Music Meister I can agree with that, and personally, I got the reference since I HAVE seen clips of Code Geass... Then again, have you also got somewhat of a feeling that these sort of voice actors have been used way too much recently? Not a problem, but if dubbing companies such as Studiopolis need newer talent, then it can either be hard to find the right people, or you can at least let go of some VA's... Personally, just my opinion. But I wouldn't say Doster sucked, since he honestly fit a bit more than Merluzzi, who for some reason I keep forgetting for Snake (Well... David Hayter, anyway)

@Ninjaman15 I said Doster sucked because of his voice acting, I guess his voice kinda fits if you ignore that.

@Music Meister That's the short and sweet way I would put it (your order of preference, I mean). Thank you!
said at 4:08 AM on Sun Aug 21 2011
@Ninjaman15 You know what, it's good you brought that up; the Studiopolis voice cast is REALLY getting overused these days. First it's Capcom with the release of SFIV, then it's SEGA when Sonic Colors comes by. What's next, will Nintendo eventually have their own voice cast taken over by them as well?

And well, idk (and like most others, don't care either) whether Wayne or Jack is better than the other; they both were just horrible as Zero.

Wayne Doster and Lucal Gilbertson for the win.
Changed mvc3 zero to japanese because it was so bad.
said at 6:18 AM on Tue Mar 1 2011
@joshgrrr Although I agree with this opinion, Wayne Doster?!?! As much as I hate to admit it, but the voice acting for Megaman x4 is criticized by most people out there. But there is another thing: the anime style of the cutscenes are worthwhile, so I'll give you that. Lucas Gilbertson on the other hand seems to be the true Zero (english version), and the voice acting for Megaman x8, Command Mission, Day of Sigma OVA, and Maverick Hunter X improved greatly overtime. Future Megaman games should have acting like this anytime possible... But now you tell me that Johnny is unfit for Zero? It's a mixed opinion, but compare this to Jack: Jack's voice acting in x7 was a little too deep for the character, trying hard to sound like Ryotaro Okiayu. Bosch himself on the other hand seems natural and alright for me. You probably seem to be the type who are more attached to the past than today... That I can understand greatly 'cause growing up in the 90's was by far the greatest thing in mankind

This is kinda lame to say and all, but I think Jack was better than Wayne for some reason... And yes, x4 was criticized for its awful voice acting like MM8 and I can see why, but people just despise the acting on x7 out of respect. Jack was very much how the character was portrayed later in the years, and I feel Wayne was only good for the anime cutscene styles of x4 and that infamous internet meme. Lucas Gilbertson is great, too... But when though he isn't on here, I'll go with Johnny Yong Bosch. Voice credits from him by Zero are taken from MvC3, btw.
