Voice Compare » Mega Man » Tron Bonne
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Tron Bonne with sound clips and images.
EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Mega Man VC section we get to see this known lady from the Mega Man Legends series (whom even got her own spin-off title "Misadventures of Tron Bonne") namely this pirate whom is A.K.A "Queen of the Servbots"... TRON BONNE! In the first Mega Man Legends (and its sequel and aforementioned spin-off) Caroly Larson voiced the role of Tron Bonne and let me say she was exceptional in this role. Caroly's voice for the role was cute but certainly suited Tron's age and her performance definitely suited how emotional Tron can be especially when she is practically so "Tsundere" for Mega Man Volnutt (has highly repressed feelings for him for those who are "not in the know"). But still Caroly's performance had a rather temperamental yet highly endearing feel and is definitely one of the best performances in the Legends series. After "Misadventures of Tron Bonne" came out in 2000, Tron Bonne (like the rest of the Mega Man Legends cast for the most part) never really had an English speaking VA until 11 years later when Tara Platt toke over the role of Tron Bonne here. I must admit I was somewhat surprised by this casting since I don't normally hear Tara do cutesy higher voices like this Tron here but she does it pretty well. Oh sure Tara's Tron Bonne voice is not quite as high as Caroly's but it still works nevertheless. While Tron is a lot calmer in this game Tara's performance in the game was able to make it still work and suit Tron's persona rather well. In fact I would go so far as to say that it's one of the reasons why its kind of a shame that the character endings in the game were not voice acted (I mean yes I know that none of the "Vs. Games" back in the 90's had voice acted endings but still). Overall both of these ladies did fine with this role, Caroly Larson's performance for the role was just plain classic while Tara Platt was a pretty good alternative as well.

They both sound fairly similar to each other, but no, Tara Platt does not sound more natural. How can you really even come to that conclusion? She's grunting and shouting fighting game phrases, while Caroly Larson acted more. Is it a perfect voice? No, but I think it's three times as enjoyable and distinct than Tara Platt's.
If Tara reprises the roll maybe she can change my opinion, but no, I'm not picking her fairly generic take over the original Caroly Larson, who shows much more range and honestly doesn't sound as forced as Tara's where her high pitched bubbliness was taken too far, and she just sounds generic.
Caroly Larson's acting wasn't perfect, no one had perfect acting in the Legend series, but it was darn good for it's time and the personality she gives the character is simply unmatched when compared with Tara Platt.

Tara Platt sounds a bit more natural but both do a wonderful job.

Both ladies were absolutely wonderful, but I'm going with Tara Platt; she sounds less grating and more natural, and she's a great voice actress, not to mention one of the best of MvC3.

The first time I've heard Tron's voice in MvC3, I partly though her voice was done by Katie Griffin. I don't know. To me, it sounds like it was her voice.
