Voice Compare » Marvel Universe » Purple Man
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Purple Man with sound clips and images.
Purple Man is a Marvel Comics supervillain who first appeared in Daredevil #4 (October 1964). Zebediah Killgrave was a European mercenary sent to infiltrate a chemical refinery, but while there, he was exposed to numerous chemicals that changed his skin and hair purple. After being captured by soldiers, he discovered he can release pheromones that can control the wills of anybody after he told his captors to let him go. A morally unrepentant narcissist, Killgrave changed his name to Purple Man and embarked on a criminal career where he has clashed with other Marvel superheroes such as Daredevil, Moon Knight and Luke Cage. He was once used by Doctor Doom to power a machine that gave Doom the ability to control the minds of everyone on Earth, but they were stopped by Wonder Man. He has also fathered a daughter who would go on to become the superheroine and Alpha Flight member known as Persuasion. Lately, Purple Man has been trying to build a criminal empire under his rule.

EDITOR'S OPINION
I like Cedric Smith's take on Killgrave. Smith gives him a charismatic, smooth voice when Killgrave needs to hide himself around people and when Killgrave is himself, Smith adds that arrogant angry tone as he concocts his plans. However, I also like Brent Spiner's voice as well. Spiner gives Killgrave a narcissistic, manipulative voice where there's a hint of injustice and mania that feels unique and creepy.
Both actors did great in their version of Purple Man.

I;m voting for Brent Spiner. I've only heard his Joker before and am a little surprised i'm voting for him.

Both were good, but I'm surprised that I also have to with Brent on this one (given that YJ's Joker was the only role of his I've heard before as well).

I've heard good voice work from Spiner before; it was just his Joker that didn't work.

@Anicomicgeek I'm personally not familiar with his other voice-over work, so I can't really speak from a different point of view.

Both are good, but Brent Spiner was really creepy as Purple Man, so I'm gonna go with him.

@Anicomicgeek Well, that was the only voice acting he's done that I was exposed to. ;)

@TheVengeanceKnight You poor man :P. You need to watch "Gargoyles". It's a great show, and he was good in it as well.
