Franchise: Marvel Universe

Nitro is a Marvel Comics Super Villain whom is originally designed to be a for of Captain Mar-Vell and made his comic book debut in Captain Marvel #34 in September of 1974. Nitro's alter ego is Robert Hunter whom was a electrical engineer from Scranton, Pennsylvania but thanks to some genetic alteration from the Kree Lunatic Legion he gained the ability to be able to explode and reform himself at will which is why he turned into a life of crime. Nitro was originally a foe of Captain Mar-Vell but has faced the likes of Spider Man and Daredevil before. But while Nitro has occasionally had sympathetic depictions before but he is normally seen as a very vicious criminal especially during the infamous Civil War comic story in which he blew up a school bus in Stamford CT killing over 600 people in which causing the Superhero Registration Act.

Today on the Marvel Universe VC section we take a look at this explosive foe... NITRO! Lets go!

Liam O'Brien- Liam's voice and performance did suit Nitro's more sympathetic depiction in the show as a white-haired man with explosive powers only this time he actually doesn't like his powers. (Though also keep in mind that in this show he has a hard time trying to control his powers.) But still Liam's performance does work fairly well on the show's decent attempt at making Nitro a sympathetic character (in which its not the first time an animated based on a comic book made a normally unsympathetic character into a sympathetic one but this is a decent attempt nevertheless.)

Steve Blum-  In this game Steve gets to do a much more conventional take on the role as Nitro gets to have a cameo when the game reenacts the infamous "Stamford Bus Explosion" incident from Civil War. While I do think that Steve's choice of voice for the role sounds a bit odd but other than that he did a fairly good job in trying to make Nitro sound sinister for what little material he had in the game.

Overall neither one of these guys are perfect for the role but they are both good though.

Steve Blum sounds pretty cool and he nails that classic line that kick-started "Civil War."

Liam O'Brien is also neat in the role with a more sympathetic take.

I prefer Steve. Liam was good, but a little too sympathetic for my taste.

Pretty cool and intimidating voice from Steve Blum here, but I actually really like Liam O'Brien's more sympathetic take's a tie for me since both of them have strengths & weaknesses here.

I like Steve better here. The more conventional take works better when it comes to Nitro. Liam isn't a bad choice but he was too sympathetic

Oh Boy.... I hate this Character..... I Really Do.... He started off One of my Most hated Comics, murdering innocent children and having his actions blamed on Superheroes.

I'm more partial to the more sympathetic depiction in 'Wolverine and the X Men'..... so Liam O'Brien gets my Vote.

I think if Liam did a more sadistic take on the character, he'd probably own the role.

But my vote still goes to Steve. Sure it's little too gruff, but the convention of his performance more than takes the cake for me.

BONUS: I can see Troy Baker or even Dee Bradley Baker doing a cool, crazy take on the character, or even Matthew Mercer with his Hydro-Man voice.

Neither is perfect, but Steve takes it.

I guess Steve Bum. Neither are really the best for the character though.

Neither are quite how I pictured Nitro sound, but I'm gonna go with Steven Blum as the version he voiced was more true to the comics version.

Neither one is ideal for the role, but I suppose Steve Blum wins.
