Klaw

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Klaw with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Marvel Universe

Klaw first appeared in Fantastic Four #53. Real name Ulysses Klaw, brought a team of super villains to Wakanda for get their vibranium (though which villains differs from continuity). While over there Ulysses' body became made of pure sound (though whether or not this was done on purpose also differs from continuity). Klaw would later join the Frightful Four. Klaw's personality seems too also differ depending on the story, sometimes he's characterized as intelligent and planning while other times he's your typical villain.

EDITOR'S OPINION

Hal Smith: Hal does an impressive job, fitting for how Klaw was just your typical villain in the show. Not too remeberable but a decent voice.

Charles Howerton: I enjoyed Charles a lot, voice wise I don't think he's that he fit but I like his campiness and had some good delivery on lines.

Unknown Voice Actor: While he fit on how Klaw was a villain posing as a hero but secretly violent and ruthless but the voice comes off as rather forced and awkward at times.

AJ Buckley: AJ was the first to try an accent for Klaw and while the idea of him having one is a pretty good idea AJ's accent is...lacking. I don't know if the lack of material or the nature of the material held him back but AJ comes off as a miscast.

Stephen Stanton: Now this is a personal favorite of mine of Stephen's work. Stephen gives a deep calm voice and adds a slight accent and had some great delivery on some very good lines. It's a shame Stephen is the only version to not show him go into his pure sound form, I'm interested how he would have played it. Stephen's Klaw was for sure a stand out in the show.

Mark Hamill: Mark plays Klaw in a more "mad scientist" which does fit. Mark's voice was great for Klaw and the accent he added was a nice touch. However when Klaw transformed he brought a unpredictable monstrous performance which was really nice to listen to.

Matt Lanter: Matt had the least material of everyone here which is a shame since he sounded pretty cool. He sounded calm and the effects did fit. I wish he got more material.

David Shaughnessy: David was clearly meant to channel Klaw's (oh sorry, Klaue) AoU actor Andy Serkis  and he does get his gutteral gruff voice but his accent is rather wonky. He's fine overall but not perfect.

So my favorite is Stephen but I think everyone did well in some ways or another.

"Morality is the first step toward cowardice. Your cowardice has doomed your whole world. I will hunt down and kill everyone and everything you have ever loved. Listen for it... soon you will hear everyone you love SCREAM."

Not Much to Say, here are my Top 5 Favourite Klaw voices:

5. UVA
4. David Shaugnessey
3. Hal Smith/Charles Howerton
2. Stephen Stanton
1. Mark Hamill

Future VA Suggestiona:

If he added a More Deranged Edge to his Hugo Strange voice, I could see William Saylers being solid in the role.

For a version similar to Stephen Stanton's more Slick and Deadpan version, I also imagine Mathieu Amalric would be a great fit as Klaw

David's accent seems to go all over the place, to the point I genuinely don't know what he's even going for here. It also doesn't help that the delivery is pretty awkward

VC thoughts update

Hal Smith is absolutely great here. This is my favorite role from him. He has a pretty nice slight accent and I really dig the raspiness. Really makes him sound like the "Master of Sound".

Mark Hamill also delivers a great performance. I like the accent and I dunno why, but Hamill's normal Klaw voice kinda reminds me of Andreas Katsulas at times. However, I really loved it when he became the "Master of Sound". He reminds me a lot of Hal Smith at times.

Matt Lanter may be deeper than the previous performers, but he still fits quite well. The effects kinda help in this case.

Stephen Stanton is also pretty cool. Like Lanter, his voice is deeper, but he still fits really nicely.

Charles Howerton does sound delightfully maniacal. His energy and over-the-top delivery is just so enjoyable. A little inconsistent, but still good.

A.J. Buckley, David Shaughnessy and the UVA are not that memorable IMO. In Buckley's case, I always asked myself "Why the heck does he sound kinda like Tommy Wiseau????". I mean, seriously, whenever I hear his take, I expect him to go "Oh HAI, Mark!!!!".

I definitely like Mark Hamill best, the voice, the accent and delivery is excellent. Pretty much how I would imagine Ulysses Klaw would sound, though when became Sound, he was a bit too grating at times but I could tell he was having fun in the role.

Charles Howerton sounds really unhinged and over the top and it works really well in this case. His accent is mostly good too even if his tone fluctuates all over the place.

Stephen Stanton definitely makes Klaw a really threatening and menacing big bad. This is a great example of his range though his accent is a bit too light for my liking.

The UVA who might be Andrew Francis isn't half bad actually.

Hal Smith works pretty well in the role and sort of reminds me of Don Messick at times.

Matt Lanter sounds generic but at the same time he got to show off his range which is nice.

AJ Buckley sounds so campy, the accent is irritating and frankly I don't like it.

Going to vote for Mark Hamill on this one.

BONUS: I'm surprised the usual suspects at Studiopolis like Steve Blum, Troy Baker, Nolan North or Roger Craig Smith haven't voiced him yet though it's probably a good thing. For a bit more out of the box casting, I could see someone like Eric Bauza or Sam Vincent being able to pull off Klaw well.

 8 Shout Outs!
1. Mark Hamill: There's no beating around the bush, Mark sounds awesome. The accent is executed superbly, his recognizable raspy, growly voice is really pleasing on the ears, and of course he sounds awesome when he hams it up after Klaw goes pure sound. Yet another quality job done by Mark Hamill.

2. Stephen Stanton: He sounds very badass. His deep, authoritative voice and absolutely chilling line delivery make him sound suitably authoritative and threatening. He's not someone to be trifled with, that's for sure!

3. Charles Howerton: Charles sounds like he is absolutely having the time of his life while hamming it up like mad. His delivery is good except for a few awkward lines, though I can't help but feel that his over-the-topness can be a bit too much at times. All in all, another solid Klaw voice.

4. UVA: I like his Klaw more than most, the raspy hissing voice he uses is pretty great. I don't feel that he's forcing it, though at the same time I don't quite like him as much as the ones above.

5. Matt Lanter: It's not the best voice, though for what little he had to work with, I liked Matt. He sounds pretty badass and authoritative, if a tad generic when compared to others in this compare.

6. Hal Smith: There's not much to say here as it's kind of a generic villain voice. Not bad, not good, just okay.

7. A.J. Buckley: I can't get into his Klaw at all, even as a sillier take on the character. His accent sounds really off and forced, I can't help but think someone like Dee Bradley Baker would have sounded better (Which makes me wonder: why hasn't Dee voiced Klaw yet? I feel that he'd be right up his alley!)

Off-topic, but they BETTER keep Andy Serkis as Klaw in Black Panther. I hear that he's in Age of Ultron, but as a bit part. Which is a shame, because Andy is an awesome actor, and I bet he'd make a great Klaw!

@NoxiousSludge ...!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a "bit part", but it is definitely not a major role. It's a taste, a tease of what will hopefully be a bigger role in "Black Panther". He's featured in a whole sequence that is very "Klaw-y", if that makes any sense, ha ha. Let me put it this way, you won't miss him if you blink, but it's also a very isolated sequence in which he just chews the scenery. The scene and his character serve their purpose and then they're done. Boom. That's it.

Hal Smith - Pretty good really. Hal Smith was a great voice actor, and really sounds menacing.
Charles Howerton - Another great performance. Very entertaining and almost Red Skull-ish.
UVA - Does sound like Sam Vincent. A tad bit generic.
AJ Buckley - Entertaining, but not much.
Stephan Stanton - OK, I've heard better.
Mark Hamill - Pretty good. Similar in voice to Hal and Charles.
Matt Lanter - Meh, generic bad guy voice.

Overall, I'm not sure who to vote for, but I'm leaning toward Charles or Mark.

to be honest this is really hard for me since there are two incarnations of the exact same character. On the one hand you have the scientist version, then the guy in a suit.

AJ is very funny I think and I wish he got more material to really work with. And is it me or does he kind of sound like Dee Bakers Klaus?

Hal sounds a little too high and it just sounds much like a generic villain, which I know a lot of superhero villains back then were generic villains basically.

Charles sounds very creepy but at some points he sounds way too over the top, to the point of me laughing hysterically.

UVA sounds too reptilian really and it doesn't fit a character like this very well IMO.

Matt has way too little to work with and it honestly doesn't leave that much of an impression on me.

Stephen sound extremely sinister and his accent is very good and fits the way he portrays the character.

Mark I think has all the qualities that I want in this version of the scientist. His age I feel is appropriate for the character, the accent is perfect, and he has this fantastic sinister tone to him.

Overall I'll have to go with Mark as the scientist version, and honestly I'll have to go with AJ in the suited version
