Voice Compare » Lilo & Stitch » Reuben
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Reuben with sound clips and images.
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Lilo and Stitch VC section we shall finally have a VC for one of the experiments, and believe it or not the first one of the experiments shall be Experiment 624 or also known as... REUBEN! Reuben made his debut in the series and has been voiced by Rob Paulsen in which whom I must say was a perfect casting choice here. Reuben is someone whom uses highly sarcastic quips just about every chance he gets but is a generally decent guy in which Rob Paulsen has been known to play these roles well ever since the 1980's and this is no exception. While this time Rob uses a Brooklyn accent with a nasally tone of a voice Rob once again shows us his exceptional comic timing for Reuben but his performance works just fine in Reuben's occasional serious moments as well. Rob's work as Reuben is easily one of the better performances in the show and is another great example of Rob's work.
Rob Paulsen voiced Reuben in all of the American released features that Reuben was in but the English dub of the Stitch anime series had a different cast in which David Wittenburg takes over the role. I like Dave Wittenburg's work but I won't spend too much time making comparisons since it wouldn't be fair. I mean sure Dave Wittenburg has had a good history but it wouldn't be fair to compare it with a veteran like Rob Paulsen here. First of all while Dave's Reuben voice is nasally but this time he doesn't really try to go for the Brooklyn accent but Dave's voice still works for the role pretty well nevertheless. As for Dave's performance for Reuben he also does try to have some fun with the role as Gantu's Smart-aleck sidekick in which it works pretty well. Yes I will admit that it doesn't have the same charismatic energy as Rob Paulsen's work but its still a genuinely good performance in its own right and is a pretty good example of this English dub's voice work. Overall while I will go with Rob Paulsen both of these guys did well for this role.
