Voice Compare » Kingdom Hearts » Young Master Xehanort

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Young Master Xehanort with sound clips and images.
Young Xehanort is, obviously enough, the young version of Master Xehanort, one of the franchise's chief antagonists. He first appears in Birth by Sleep as a cameo early in the game and as a secret boss fight. He has a larger role as a major villain in Kingdom Hearts 3D. In 3D, Young Xehanort has travelled through time in order to ensure the realization of his future self's plans.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (2010)
Master Xehanort (Young)David Gallagher

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (2012)
Master Xehanort (Young)Benjamin Diskin
Benjamin Diskin

Obviously, David was cast because Young Xehanort was only a small part in BBS, and he was already on hand due to voicing Riku. With that said, he did a decent job, but as a long-term "official" voice for the character, I think Ben filled that niche much better.

Ben wins, David's Xehanort sounds too close to Riku.

Ben Diskin for sure. He sounds convincingly like a young version of the character played by Billy Zane, Richard Epcar, and Leonard Nimoy. Plus he gives Young Xehanort charm and personality that he lacked in the original version of the game, where his Japanese voice was completely monotone.

David sounds too much like his other character Riku which is why i'm going with Benjamin.

David Gallagher could have gotten better over time. It's not like he had a whole lot to work with.

@TheTrueYuma I honestly reckon he did pretty well with what little material he had.

@TheTrueYuma The thing is, David wasn't meant to be a permanent voice for the character. He was Xehanort in BBS because it was such a small part that it wasn't worth going to the trouble of auditioning, casting, and paying a new voice actor. That said, he did do a fine job with what he had.

@NCZ Again, he still could have been better if they let him reprise his role. And it would have helped with cast consistency, though it's nowhere near as bad as Ape Escape's U.S. dub.

@TheTrueYuma I think one of the reason's David Gallagher was cast is Nomura's shoddy way of reminding us that, "Oh, there's a connection between Xehanort & Riku".

@TheTrueYuma But David Gallagher is Riku. Him as the permanent voice for young Xehanort would not work.

Benjamin for sure. David just sounded a bit off to me.
