Voice Compare » Green Lantern » Evil Star
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Evil Star with sound clips and images.
Evil Star is an antagonist in the Green Lantern series whose Comic Book debut was in Green Lantern Volume 2 #37 in June of 1965. Evil Star was once a scientist on the planet of Auron who invented the Starband who has made him immortal but has twisted his mind to become evil and can prematurely age his fellow Aorans. However Evil Star refused to give up his immortality even though if he did made himself the last of his race but now he wants new worlds to conquer which the Guardians of the Universe have sent Green Lanterns such as Hal Jordon to stop him. Evil Star's Starband is powered by Starlight in which he has many of the same powers as the Green Lanterns but he can also create the Starlings which are a bunch of strong and durable midget copies of himself that he uses to attack his enemies.
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Green Lantern VC section we take a look at this Genocidal Mad Scientist... EVIL STAR! Let us begin...
Paul Frees- Paul does give a good attempt at playing the role of Evil Star with some good old-fashioned over the top super-villainy and he actually pulls it off pretty well. As Paul does ham it up as Evil Star but his voice and performance for the role does suit on how Evil Star is an intellectual whom has let his vast power go to his head and is a good example of Paul's work.
George Newbern- Okay I know this was basically a brief cameo and all but George's voice does seem kind of awkward and off for the role here. When it comes to highly limited performances like this I have heard worst but I have heard better so this is a so-so example of George's work.
JK Simmons- I actually rather liked JK's voice for the role as it does suit an arrogant conqueror rather well which makes it a pity that he only had a small amount of lines in the show. But still for what little material he had JK's performance does suit Evil Star as an Evil Conqueror pretty well.
Joey Hood- Joey's work on the role is quite a mixed bag, on one hand his voice for the role is not really awful but it is perhaps a bit too high. However Joey does a pretty good job in playing the role of Evil Star as a good old fashioned comic book super villain rather well. So in other words Joey's work on the role is a fairly good example of the voice work in the game.
Overall I liked JK Simmons the most with Paul and Joey at a good second place with George at a so-so last place.
