Voice Compare » Giant Robo » Inspector Kenji Murasame
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Inspector Kenji Murasame with sound clips and images.
Inspector Kenji Murasame is one of the Protagonists and a member of the International Police Organization in the Giant Robo Anime OVA. While Kenji has a rather Japanese name he is actually a Frenchman as he is a member of the IPO as he was originally in the IPO's Paris Branch in Europe. While Kenji's weapon of choice is a gun his most prominent ability is the fact that he is pretty much immortal as he has survived fatal wounds plenty of times over the course of the storyline. While Kenji is normally seen alone when he tries to fight the forces of Big Fire he has worked with other IPO agents before such as Gin Rei in missions as well.

EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Giant Robo VC section we have a little something for this French Immortal Inspector... KENJI MURASAME! We shall begin this with the 90's dub of Giant Robo from U.S Manga corps with Bill Kestin here. Bill's attempt at the French accent is a bit hit and miss as sometimes it can sound pretty good and fairly natural for the role however on other times it can sound a bit too thick making him occasionally hard to understand. However aside from that Bill's performance for the role is pretty good as he does make Kenji sound heroic but with a somewhat more somber tone which is fitting for the role. So in other words while Bill's attempt at the accent for the role is a bit inconsistent other than that his work as Kenji is a good example of the voice work in the 90's dub.
Now for the 2000's dub of the Giant Robo OVA from Anime Works Marc Diraison gets to take over the over here and I must say his work for the role is an interesting change of pace for his work. Granted his Kenji voice maybe his "Gutts/Roronoa" voice but with a French accent but the accent alone does make it an interesting change of pace for his work here as he does pull it off pretty well. (I mean sure Marc's attempt at the accent is a bit lighter than Bill's but its a bit more consistent and sounds more natural.) Anyways Marc is fairly well known for doing heroic roles pretty well and this is no different as his performance felt very natural for the role and is a fine example of the voice work of the 2000's dub of Giant Robo. Overall I liked them both but I am going with Marc Diraison the most here.
(Update: Apparently in the last episode of the 90's dub of Giant Robo, Paul St. Peter gets to take over the role here and is a more alternative for the role here. Granted I admit Paul's attempt at the accent and him trying to play up on how French Kenji is did seem a little strange at first but Paul's voice for Kenji started to feel very natural for the role pretty quickly. I could pretty much say the same thing for Paul's performance as Kenji as well it sounds noble yet regretful as well and is a fine example of the voice work in the 90's dub of the OVA. So in other words I think that Marc and Paul are tied while Bill is at 2nd place.)
