Voice Compare » Flash » Flash / Barry Allen
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Flash / Barry Allen with sound clips and images.
Barry Allen was a police scientist who was one day exposed to chemicals hit by a lightning bolt. The result left Barry as one of the fastest beings in existence; capable of running faster than the speed of light. He is also able to vibrate his body to pass through solid matter and he has extremely fast reflexes.

Like VctrBnsn, I'm gonna change my vote to Neal McDonough once he's added. Opon listening to clips of him as Barry, I think he was the best voice for the character.

When Neal McDonough gets added I'm voting for him. Listening to him in the game makes me certain that he is superior to all these other guys. He has what I like about both George and Michael, with none of the downsides.

Neil Patrick Harris gets my vote, though Michael Rosenbaum, Charlie Schlatter, James Arnold Taylor, Taliesin Jaffe and George Eads are also good.

I think Jack Angel was a very fitting choice for the Flash. I really loved his performance because of the fact that his Flash voice was somewhat younger than his other voices.

These are the best Flash VAs:
Jack Angel (Classic)
James Arnold Taylor (Modern)

I prefer JAT, so I'm changing my vote to him.

James Arnold Taylor isnt great but I think its cause he was called as a replacement and couldn't do his own thing for the role. Pretty sure he can do Flash just fine

I KNEW there was something weird with Flash's voice at the end of Young Justice: Invasion. It had t be JAT
Replysaid at 6:34 PM on Tue Mar 26 2013
At first I thought it was Jason Spisak doing Flash in that episode. I'm not sure why they replaced George, probably scheduling issues or budget restraints, but I think James did OK, nothing special, but not cringeworthy. He didn't really sound like George, but thats fine.

@VctrBnsn There goes my JAT has not been in Young Justice yet. The voice does sound pretty dent for a character he wold be cast as.
Replysaid at 11:15 PM on Wed Mar 27 2013
@pete What do you mean JAT wasn't in YJ yet? He voiced Neutron and Tobo.
Replysaid at 2:30 AM on Thu Mar 28 2013
@VctrBnsn I said on the Young Justice page that he hasn't played any characters in the sow yet to my knowledge.

Charlie Schlatter - An entertaining performance with more personality than his STAS appearence.
Ted Knight - OK
Jack Angel - Not as good as Ted.
Neil Patrick Harris - His normal voice, but it works fine.
Taliesin Jaffe - Almost sounds like Crispin Freeman. Its OK, not very memorable.
Ray Owens - Mediocre.
Alan Tudyk - Not my favorite, but good.
Eric Bauza - Cartoony, but OK.
George Eads - Hated it at first, sounded like he had a stuffed up nose. But I love it now.
Michael Rosenbaum - He brought a lot in the JL series as Wally West, but not too much in this role. It's only because of Wally West that people are voting for him. THIS IS BARRY ALLEN!!!

Wow, just when I was starting to like Eads' Barry, Rosenbaum's the popular one. :-P

Alan. Don't know why Rosenbaum is leading. He is a very great Wally, but I don't really care about his Bary.

I'm liking Neil the most here. When ever I'm reading a comic with Barry in it, even after hearing everyone's performances, Neil's is the voice that I here. At least to me, that's what should decide who wins a comic voice compare.

Whilst I didn't care for him at first, George Eads has grown on me as Barry!Flash to where I'm willing to change my mind and vote to him.

Neil Patrick Harris for me, I just love him in everything and his voice is what I'd imagine Flash to sound like

I think that it was Barry in Doom because it's the same as animation as Young Justice. They may have changed the actors and just because the rest of the League was missing doesn't mean their the only members.

I love Michael Rosenbaum, but he'll always be Wally West. Hard to decide.

i understand why michael is back as flash in doom.. but what i dont understand is why they did not go with a differnt voice.. i am aware they wanted to go with the justice league unlimited cast, which IS a amazing cast. but the flash there was wally, in doom its berry.. so did they really need him micheal as flash in that movie? well all i gotta say is michael is good but i perfer him as wally more then berry. eads got my vote here

@Bombermanp I think they wanted Barry and Rosenbaum audtioned and Bruce Timm automatically gave him the role. He still had some of Wally's personality though.
Replysaid at 8:13 PM on Fri Mar 9 2012
@pete well again i do kinda understand the idea of it.. i guess to me i just feel like if someone is going to act as a character who is different form anouther character they should do the effort in makeing them either sound differnt or act much differntly.. (kinda why i like johnny young bosch even tho he sounds almost exactly the same in almost everything he does he trys to make them act differnt)) with with rosenbaum i feel like he is just playing wally flash when he should be barry flash.. but ya its easier said then done cause both characters can be smartasses

Disappointing that was Barry not Wally in Justice League Doom. Pretty sure most DCAU fans consider it Wally and will ignore anything saying it's Barry.

Considering he's addressed by name and we see him uot of costume, that will be hard to do.

I don't get why they had the flash in doom be barry and not wally when rosenbaum was playing him, cause the association is definitely there.

@GothamRed Justice league doom was based off a comic so they didn't want to change it. It's the same reason they made Green Lantern Hal Jordan instead of John Stewart and omitted Hawkgirl entirely.
Replysaid at 2:30 AM on Thu Mar 1 2012
@GothamRed Ignore my last comment. wally was in the comic not Barry so changing it to Barry was just plain dumb.
Replysaid at 11:33 PM on Mon Jan 7 2013

Yep, and even with GL, it was still changed, anyway, as in "Tower of Babel" (the comic Doom's based on), it was Kyle and not Hal.

George Eads as Barry for me, though Charlie Schlatter, Neil Patrick Harris, and Alan Tudyk were good as Barry, too.

my #1 vote is Alan Tudyk, for reasons being that honestly his Firefly costars have gone so far in the world of DC voice acting. It is a shocker that George Eads is Nick Stokes and he does come in second.

Charlie Schlatter. The guy's freakin' hilarious!
