Voice Compare » Flash » Captain Cold
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Captain Cold with sound clips and images.
(Note: We at BTVA are uncertain if the info of Michael Bell ever voicing Captain Cold in Superfriends was actually true or not.)
Captain Cold is one of the various foes of the Flash whom made his comic book debut in Showcase #8 in June of 1957. Captain Cold's real name is Leonard Snart who grew up with family issues and a strong knowledge of cryonics in which Captain Cold went into a life of crime with the ice gun he uses. While Captain Cold has worked with other Supervillain groups before he is most primarily known as a member of the Rogues (though whether if he is actually their leader or not does depend on the storyline).

Special thanks to Foxwolf for additional sound clips.
EDITOR'S OPINION
Today on the Flash VC section we take a look at this rather icy foe of the Flash... CAPTAIN COLD! Since this is a fairly big VC I shall simply state that I liked Lex Lang and Steve Blum the most here for this role but the others were pretty good too.Pokejedservo

How is the voice actor from Animal Man unknown? It's clearly Kevin Michael Richardson.

@TheAtticus feel free to post a link or something that gives credible proof of it (not IMDB or Wikipedia)

@Foxwolf Lending my thoughts, I don't have any evidence either, but just to weigh in it sounds like KMR to me too.

@NCZ I actually asked KMR over twitter and this is what he said to me https://twitter.com/ClevelandJr/status/307730106569355264

I like James the most.
He seems smug and yet badass at the same time.

The unknown voice actor sound like Kevin Michael Richardson. He's alright but i'm sticking with Lex Lang.

Love Lex Lang the most here, Steve did fine but it was too...cartoonish for my tastes (yes I'm aware it is a cartoon, but you know what I mean).

@GothamRed You realize that's like criticizing a video game character's voice for being too video gamey :/

Lex Lang was the best. Steve Blum and James Arnold Taylor were good too. Did Alan Tudyk have an accent?

Alan Tudyk was OK; he could be better if he had more material with. That scene was pretty funny, though. XD
Still sticking with Lex Lang. :-)

Eh, Alan wasn't really all that good. I'm sticking to JAT

The more I think about it, the more I think Steve Blum was miscast as Captain Cold. Cold's a two-bit punk with an ice gun; Blum should stick with more bad@$$ characters.

@TheVengeanceKnight Have you actually read the comics? Captain Cold IS a bad@$$!

@D.A.V.E. Haha. Still, Blum's voice doesn't fit him IMO.

I'm going with Lex Lang. He manages to give that BLue Collar feel to CC.
Replysaid at 5:31 PM on Sun Feb 26 2012
I like James Arnold Taylor the most, he made CC seem very cool (shut up) and calculating. Seriously I thought that scene was most rememberable in the whole movie, I really didn't know if FLash was going to save those people.
Lang's pretty good, it did have a intelligent feel and I liked how the character was portrayed.
I like Steven Blum but his voice seems too gruff and deep for what I imagine for Captain Cold. His Heat Wave was much better.
Ryal was pretty good, I normally don't like golden edge voices but he did have a calm yet intelligent feel.
Wickerham isn't bad just generic.
I might like Grough if given more lines, sounds like it had potential.

There some stuff I forgot about about Taylor's performance, during the whole scene he had a very calm and collected feel and tone that really left a impression.

I do find it amusing that Lex Lang and Steven Blum did the voice of both Captain Cold and Heat Wave.XD
Anyway, yeah, gonna give this one to Steven Blum, though there was definitely more to compare Lang to him than the Heat Wave one. Micghael Gough and James Arnold Taylor were also good as Cold.

@Anicomicgeek
Alan Tudyk was oaky, but what's with the accent?
Sticking with Blum, though.

@Anicomicgeek What kind of accent? I'm guessing Spanish by the music but I don't hear much of one regardless.
Replysaid at 8:29 PM on Thu Oct 4 2012
@pete I thought it was Spanish, but it sounded more British towards the end.

Sticking with Blum, but I do think that the Unknown Voice Actor (who I do believe might be Kevin Michael Richardson) is good, too.

Gotta go with Steve Blum here.
Hey, he's Steve Blum: one of the many "Kings of Awesome Voices". I can't say "no" to him.

Lex Lang gets my vote, though Steve Blum, Michael Gough II and JAT are also pretty good.

@TheVengeanceKnight Though I like it's mostly due to one of his best lines in that episode.
"You know what? Taking turns is dumb!"

Lex Lang - Really good, he was threatening and entertaining as well.
JAT - Alright with what they were going for.
Michael Gough - Good for that one line.
Steven Blum - I made a little fanboy squeal when I first heard him in an Andrea Romano production. He was good, like to see him in a more serious version.
Ryan Wickerham - Ok, nothing special.
Alan Tudyk - The accent was a nice touch, but in the end, forgettable.
KMR - Not bad, actually.
