Hinoka

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Hinoka with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Fire Emblem

A horseback-riding, spear-wielding Sky Knight. Losing her sibling Corrin to the Nohr kingdom at a young age transformed her from meek royalty to a fearless, goal-driven warrior. She is almost aggressively protective of those she cares about.

EDITOR'S OPINION

I feel like on paper, Cindy Robinson is a fantastic casting choice, but it sounds like she's definitely trying to channel Liz here. Not that it's a bad thing, but it makes me wonder how she would do if she wasn't constrained to the previous actress. Anyway, it was a really pleasant surprise hearing Elizabeth Daily in the game and her performance was just as fierce and hotheaded as you'd expect it to be.

I really do want to echo that Cindy Robinson can be an absolutely fantastic Hinoka, but her having to try and match Elizabeth is the entire problem and why her performance sounds kind of awkward. I'd kill to hear what Cindy sounded like if she was able to give her own, more unique take on Hinoka, but for now my vote goes to Elizabeth.

You - shocking that Elizabeth is in a title like this

Me - Really? You're still shocked? -_-

Elizabeth definitely portrays Hinoka perfectly.

I honestly feel Cindy could do a way better job. She sounds like a boy. It's a shame cause as many have pointed out, she is the ideal choice as a replacement for Hinoka.

@PeachesDaisy I think people are more shocked that she's in a Fire Emblem game. She doesn't have any history of working on a game like this. That is why it's surprising.

@PeachesDaisy

Yeah, Shaun has the right idea. Considering the context it makes sense that a director like Kris Zimmerman was able to bring in actors she's familiar with, but don't normally pop up in non-union game dubs and such, but when the cast list started coming up I think it'd be pretty accurate to say a lot of us weren't expecting it to look the way it did.

Especially with E.G. specifically, she'd been pretty quiet with stuff in general for the past while, so this was a surprising time/place for a lot of us to hear her again and suddenly recognize her from her various prior roles.

@NCZ Totally unrelated but this is a major part of my love for Kevin Michael Richardson's Heihachi. It's a very impressive fantasy-casting type deal. It's not quite sustainable (as in this case), but it's still *very* cool that it happened at all.

& even in KMR's case, he'd done at least a couple unionized dubs, whereas EGD I dont think has *any* history, even of unionized ones. That's why it's such a cool surprise.

Elizabeth Daily definitely. She nails Hinoka's outwardly tough and strong-willed demeanor. She's a perfect fit, sounding very raspy sounding yet feminine to suit that tough nature. Her aggressive delivery is also done well. She practically is the best voice for this character. It's also pretty surprising that she's in a Fire Emblem game of all things.

Cindy Robinson is okay and certainly passable as a replacement, and she's a fine voice match, but because she's putting effort on imitating Elizabeth, her performance isn't as smoothly natural as Elizabeth's. But of course, you can't blame her. There is only one Elizabeth Daily, after all.

I'll go with Elizabeth. I like her raspy tone but she still sounds femenine enough. Cindy is nice but her version is too boysih ... ends up sounding like a little boy sometimes.

Although a serviceable take at best, I'll say Cindy Robinson fits Hinoka a lot more than she does as Peri.

Cindy did a good job with the impression. But you can't beat Elizabeth Daily

Easily going with Elizabeth. It was a nice surprise to see her cast in Fates.

Elizabeth Daily IS Hinoka. These kind of characters come very naturally to her and she makes Hinoka sound tough, adorable, and likable. Exactly how the "warrior princess" should sound really.

Cindy Robinson... does a passable job I suppose. But you can tell she's straining herself to sound like EG Daily. Which brings down her performance quite a bit IMO. She isn't anywhere near as likable in the role. But, at the very least it's more tolerable than her Peri for what it's worth.

Elizabeth Daily IS Hinoka! I was surprised to hear just how wonderful Cindy was as a stand in for Elizabeth, and I actually really loved the voice she gave her!

Going with Elizabeth Daily here. It was a nice surprise hearing her in a Fire Emblem game and she fits Honoka to a T. Cindy Robinson was pretty good too despite trying to imitate Elizabeth in this role.
