Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Terry Bogard with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Fatal Fury

"Are you okay!? BUSTER WOLF!"

Terry is the hero of Fatal Fury and arguably SNK's most famous character. The older of the Bogard brothers, he and Andy were orphaned as children and adopted by a man from Southtown named Jeff Bogard. In Southtown, Terry learned all he needed to know about street fighting. Jeff was killed by Geese Howard, which immediately made him into Terry's mortal enemy. Despite that, he felt guilty after Geese's death in Real Bout Fatal Fury, and so he adopted Geese's son Rock and raised him like his own child. Terry is friendly, outgoing, and charismatic, and a stereotypically All-American design through and through.

Tony Carroll was too hammy for me. I'll have to give this one to Mark Hildreth. He sounded cooler and more natural.

Mark is pretty good and out of the box for him, Tony sounded pretty cheesy

I'm not choosing either one of them, but if it weren't for the Engrish Epicness that was, well... Terry Bogard and his seiyuu, I would've leaned towards Mark Hildreth. He DOES suit Terry's younger self, I'll say that much.

Tony Carroll, on the other hand? He sounds quite forced and all-around cheesy; I outright laughed anytime Terry said "Hey, c'mon, c'mon!", because it was as if he recently figured out what a crapper is!

Man, you are so NOT Satoshi Hashimoto... but nobody said you could be an impersonator to begin with.

 1 Shout Out!
Mark Hildreth of course.

Oh, Japan...you guys pick the funniest English voice actors in fighting games (mostly). They sure know how to pick 'em.

It's pretty funny how Terry has to have English VAs since Satoshi Hashimoto has already made this Bogard into a legend for speaking Engrish... As in, "being racist to both America and Japan". Although he has spoken Japanese before, so don't think speaking anything other than Engrish is horrid for his character... Unless if it's an opinion.

Personally, I don't care for any of the two voice actors who did Bogard in the past, but at least Hildreth knows how to act and stay in character... And his voice fit for Terry, seeing how the latter was a tad bit younger at the time. Did SNK find these people or did somebody else? Moving onto Tony Carroll, I'll just say he is WAY too hammy like you said... In fact, most of the character voices in the Maximum Impact series are just hilariously bad that they pale in comparison to the King of Fighters XII english voices, but that says nearly nothing.
