Fantastic Four Fantastic Four

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Triton with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Fantastic Four

(Note: For anyone who is wondering about the 1967 Fantastic Four series the Triton we see in that show is actually a blue-skinned expy of Namor the Sub-Mariner. However since Sub Mariner has his show in Marvel Super Heroes at the time Hanna Barbera couldn't directly use Namor so they colored their take on the character blue and coincidentally name him Triton.)

Triton is one of the members of the Inhumans whom became allies of the Fantastic Four and his Comic Book Debut was in Fantastic Four #45 in December of 1965. Triton is the Brother of Karnak and a member of the Inhumans Royal Family in which his powers are to be able to breath underwater and is strong enough to stand the cold temperatures and high pressure of the ocean deep.  Unlike a lot of aquatic characters in comic books Triton's fish-like appearance was due to his body being mutated by the Terrigen Mist though whether he needs a device to breath out of water or not depends on the story. Triton is a member of the Inhuman Royal Family and has aided the Fantastic Four but he is also a good friend of Namor the Sub Mariner and has been a member of Namor's Deep Six in the past.

Today on the Fantastic Four VC section we take a look at this rather aquatic member of the Inhumans Royal Family... TRITON!

Rocky Carroll- Rocky's fairly rough voice does suit the show's take on the role fairly well. Namely on how Rocky's performance does suit how Triton is a fairly tragic hero who has his problems with his condition. Not the best case of Rocky voicing a tragic character whom was mutated into a beast-like creature (namely Talon from Gargoyles) but it is a good example of his work anyways.

Mark Hamill- This is certainly a mixed bag when it comes to Mark's work as while his voice for the role is not bad per say but I am not certain if it really fits Triton though. But to be fair Mark's performance was pretty good as it did have a nice and energetic feel in which it did suit a happier Triton well enough. Basically its not one of Mark's better performances but its certainly not a bad one though.

Tom Kane- Tom plays the role in a fairly different way as a calm, well-mannered (but not exactly posh) gentleman and he does it rather well. Tom's voice and performance for the role suits on how Triton is one of the more civil members of the Inhumans Royal Family but hasn't exactly forgotten about his past. So in other words its a good example of Tom Kane's work and a fine example of the voice work in the game.

James Arnold Taylor- I must say I am rather liking James' voice and performance for the role as Jason's voice for the role was a pretty natural fit. James' performance was also pretty good as he did a pretty good job in playing Triton as a cautious but caring man as its a pretty good example of James' voice work and the voice work in the show.

Overall I am going with James the most with Tom at a close second while Rocky and Mark are not bad but a semi-distant third.

This compare is a little harder because they don't really share any of the same qualities.
So a certain amount of personal preference comes into play.

That said, my favorites are Mark and Ron.

Mike Road is not playing the same character as the actors in this compare, as stated above.

@Music Meister Yeah, I know, but I thought I should mention him anyway. ;)

But it doesn't really make sense to bring him up if he isn't playing the same character as these actors.
Like I wouldn't say that Kevin Conroy as Batman is my favorite voice of Spiderman.

@Music Meister I just prefer to think of Road's Triton as just a very different incarnation of the character.

Ron Halder has the right idea, though he's a bit deeper than I prefer. Sticking with Tom Kane.

I prefer Rocky so he gets my vote.

Mark is 2nd as I thought he did pretty well.

Tom was average in my opinion but I respect the fact that people love his take on Triton.

James was ok though a bit bland with some lines.

All three are good as Triton, but I'm gonna give this one to Tom Kane.
