VC thoughts update

Joseph Sirola sounds extremely diabolical and cruel as Dr. Doom. I really liked his performance in "The Way it All Began" 'cause he really managed to show Doom's anguish and frustration when they recreate his accident, and the way he tells the story of what happened after the accident is just great. It really saddens me that this is Sirola's only voiceover role. He could do much more.

Shepard Menken's take is also great. He is quite menacing and imposing and he does seem to be having fun in the role. He also has great chemistry with Alan Young's Mr. Frump.

Simon Templeman also works well in the role. He sounds pretty threatening and foreboding. I also like how sophisticated he sounds.

Lex Lang is also incredible in the role. He sounds quite cold-hearted and I like how he makes Doom sound as if he's above everyone else.

Fred Tatasciore works perfectly for a more light-hearted version. I really enjoy his delivery and he sure seems to be having tons of fun in the role.

I also enjoyed Neil Ross, John Vernon, Tom Kane (though the accent is kinda overdone), Lorne Kennedy, Paul Dobson (more in MvC 3), Clive Revill, Gideon Emery, Charlie Adler, Chris Britton (though like Kane, he has to dial back on the accent) and Maurice LaMarche.

Henry Ramer (the UVA), John Stephenson and Ralph James don't really hold up that well. If I had to pick one of these, it would be James, but still, his delivery tends to be quite monotone at times.

Julian McMahon is miscast.

Honorable mentions: Michael Roberts (BBC Spider-Man radio drama)

Simon Templeman, Clive Revill, Lex Lang, and Paul Dobson are easily the best voices for Dr. Doom. If had to choose between the four, I'd go with Simon Templeman. The guy is a very underused and underrated voice actor.

Tom Kane would do much better if he used his Kurse voice.

One of Marvel's most iconic villains and the star of one of my Favourite comic book series ('DOOM 2099').

Here are my Top 5 Favourite Voices for him:

5. Ralph James/Maurice LaMarche
4. Paul Dobson (Marvel v.s Capcom 3> Fantastic 4: WGH)
3. Lex Lang (Marvel Heroes>Avengers: EMH)
2. Clive Revill
1. Simon Templeman

Future VA Suggestions:

Since Alan Rickman (My Ideal choice for Doctor Doom) has passed away, I think Both Allan Corduner and Rupert Degas would be good for voicing the esteemed ruler of Latveria ( using modulated versions of their Severus Snape voices).

For a version not inspired by Alan Rickman, Kirk Thornton could use an Eastern-European accented version of his Count Lazare d'Cagliostro voice.

I also Recomend Mark Oliver, JB Blanc, Louis Mellis, Toby Stevens and David Wald.

P.S: Joseph Sirola's Doctor Doom sounds more suitable for Mysterio IMO.
P.SS Gideon Emery's Doctor Doom would sound A LOT better if he used a more malevolent version of his Bathier voice .

I don't think Maurice LaMarche's audio sample does him any justice. He's much better in Avengers Assemble and Hulks and the Agents of SMASH. They don't use as much editing enhancements in those series and he's actually in it a lot more. Not talking on a TV like he is in the Ultimate Spider-man clip they used.

He captures the arrogance and intelligence. He can be cold and calculating, but also fun and humorous. It's a perfect combination of all the things that make Doctor Doom one of the best villains. I vote for him.

Lex Lang is second best, and Chris Britton is also good.

Doctor Doom is a villain so great and grand that he makes the Fantastic Four bearable, I mean I bare no ill will against the F4 but Doom is honestly a better character than any of his heroic arch-rivals. I feel Doom should have a very theatrical presence and thus my favourite one here is Simon Templeman.

Simon brings so much class and sophistication to the role of Doom and the delivery of his speeches and dialogue is just excellent, the only thing that really holds him back IMO is that he doesn't have any major effects on his voice, if he had the effects used on EMH, he'd sound pitch perfect.

Lex Lang is a close second, he really impressed me in the role. He pulls off a more colder Doom perfectly and I love the effects on his voice, the only that kept him from being my number 1 is the lack of material he had in EMH and in Marvel Heroes, I thought his performance was a lot weaker sounding.

Clive Revill is also fantastic, he has a lot of power and strength in his conviction even if he sounds maybe a bit too old for Doom.

Paul Dobson is a natural fit for Doctor Doom but his performance in F4 WGH, it's pitched way too low and deep for my liking, his MVC3 performance was an improvement but I've always thought he should voiced Doom more closely to how he voiced Naraku.

Neil Ross and John Vernon are both pretty good, though I prefer Ross slightly more.

Joseph Sirola and Shepard Menken are both pretty good too, Sirola sounds very diabolical but the lack of effects sort of hurt the performance IMO. Menken has great effects but I don't hear any sort of accent.

Maurice LaMarche sounds maybe a bit too deep and the effects I think take away from the performance a bit but he's still pretty good.

Charlie Adler is excellent in the SHSS, he was hilarious as him, he maybe could work as a traditional version if he tweaked his Cobra Commander a tad bit.

Fred Tatasciore works really well but I think he's too gruff for Doom.

Tom Kane is decent but his accent is overdone and he doesn't have the right amount of class for the role.

Chris Britton is rather forced but he does show promise in the role.

the UVA isn't great but not too bad either.

Julian McMahon wasn't that good in the movies and it certainly didn't translate well to voice acting. Gideon Emery is a slight improvement, he could be better if he didn't have to emulate McMahon.

Lorne Kennedy works for a fighting game but nothing else.

John Stephenson makes Doom sound like an old coot.

Overall Simon Templeman is my favourite Doom and gets my vote.

BONUS: I've always thought Corey Burton could make an excellent Doom if he tweaked his TFA Megatron voice a bit. I could also maybe see Jamieson Price, Troy Baker or David Kaye fitting as Doom.

 1 Shout Out!
1) Joseph Sirola: A great performance from an excellent show. Sirola's stage experience really pays off here. His voice may be higher than the other performers, but his performance has the proper amount of hamminess, energy and threat which makes him my favorite Doom of all-time.

2) Shepard Menken: Now the only thing that can rival the casting of a stage veteran in this role, is the casting of a radio legend. Menken was just excellent in this role. Like Sirola, he plays the role with a lot of energy, presence and conviction. And his authoritative delivery is an excellent match to his deep voice. Also, as with every villain in Spider-Friends, I just love his evil laugh.

3) Simon Templeman: Like the previous two, he is just perfect. He has the energy and the foreboding presence which is a very important part of the character. A great performance overall.

4) Michael Roberts (BBC Spider-Man radio drama): A great performance. His voice reminds me a lot of Sirola, and his delivery is just great. Like Sirola, he also plays the origin story splendidly. A great performance from a pretty solid radio drama.

5) Lex Lang: I was pretty surprised by Lang's Doom. It's a pretty good performance, full of arrogance, menace and contempt, which is great for Doom.

6) Paul Dobson: It's pretty good. Dobson is just a natural for playing villains and Doom is no exception. Great delivery and he just nails the arrogance and contempt.

7) Fred Tatasciore: I absolutely enjoyed Tatasciore's Doom. Just a great bombastic performance. "DR. DOOM'S DOOM RAY OF DOOM!!!"

8) Maurice LaMarche: I just LOVE IT!!! His commanding delivery and foreboding voice are an excellent fit for Doom. And he also adds a lot of arrogance and sense of superiority to his performance.

9) Ralph James: It's a pretty good performance, which is surprising considering that a lot of the performances in the solo Spidey cartoon were decent at best. James' Doom is definetly one of the better performances in the show. He has the proper amount of menace and power. The only problem I have with his performance is that it's a little bit lacking in energy at times, which kinda made some of his lines sound monotone. It's still a good performance, though.

10) Tom Kane: His performance is good, but he kinda overdid the accent and sounds comical at times. Yet, he still manages to sound arrogant and full of himself, which is something I really like.

11) Henry Ramer (UVA): Ramer kinda sounds like an accentless Der Teufel (from the Superman radio show). I kinda like him. And it's pretty cool that he's using the same trick John Vernon used for his Iron Man voice (delivering his lines through a styrofoam cup to add a robotic sound effect).

12) John Stephenson: I'm definetly being lenient with this one. Stephenson is okay, but his delivery and voice make Doom sound like an ol' geezer. In this case, I blame the direction more than Stephenson, because I know he could have done a lot better. A take with a lot of potential.

13) John Vernon: Another case in which the material and direction can hurt a performance. First of all, I never knew Vernon could do a voice that high, which is a pleasant surprise. His delivery is great, but the abysmal material really hurts his performance.

14) Neil Ross: A more subdued take than Vernon. Once again, the material hurts Ross' performance, which is a shame, because he sounds pretty cool.

15) Clive Revill: A pretty good performance overall. Revill's voice and performance may not be as awesome as the previous actors, but it's still pretty awesome, and it's another example of Revill's resume.

16) Charlie Adler: For a light-hearted take, Adler really works well. He has a lot of energy and hilarious moments, which made me enjoy his performance a lot.

17) Gideon Emery: I personally think Emery did a lot better than Julian McMahon. I like his performance, it actually fits Doom a little bit better than McMahon ever did.

18) Lorne Kennedy: Pretty decent. It's sorely lacking in terms of material, but it has some potential.

19) Julian McMahon: UGH!!! Why???!!!!! He sounds so lifeless and monotone. A definitive miscast.

20) Chris Britton: The only reason Britton is below McMahon is that even though he gave a better performance than McMahon, he overdid the accent a lot more than Tom Kane did. I mean, really??? "FEEL... ZE MIGHT... OF DOOM!!!!"??? Such wasted potential.

My new top 5 voices for Victor von Doom:

1) Clive Revill- Somehow, Revill is able to make Doom cold, refined, subdued, AND over-the-top. Obviously Doom of the comics is able to pull off all those aspects, and IMHO Revill gives off the best performance in the game. Favoritism? Maybe. Awesome? DEFINITELY. The only thing that takes this rendition of Doom back a bit is the fact that he sounds like he's in his 50s or 60s when he should be around the F4's ages (remember, he attended university with them), which is where my second choice comes in as a tie.

2, also 1) Lex Lang- For me, I consider Lex Lang a tie with Revill since he sounds the age I would imagine Doom to be: not too young, yet not too old, maybe late 30s, early 40s like how I imagine Reed Richards. Of course, this isn't the only reason why. Lang takes Doom to a cold extreme. This Doom is completely serious, without a hint of campiness, which in certain situations could work, such as in EMH, which works for a modernized Doom. And besides, sometimes being coldly serious all the time COULD make you a little over-the-top. Despite how awesome his dialogue was in the show, I think Lang's performance as Doom in the Marvel Heroes MMO was better, since he gave him a slight upper-class accent that upped his arrogance level and made him closer to Revill's Doom in hamminess. Oddly enough, this Doom is the best one for me to imitate. And after all, the developers of Marvel Heroes chose actors who really fit the characters, and if they chose Lex Lang for Doctor Doom, he really deserves to be high up on my list if he was chosen over my next actor.

3) Paul Dobson- Dobson's performance as Doom in World's Greatest Heroes is heavily modulated, which is a shame as it only shows off half of the actor's potential. Thankfully they tone down the metallic reverberation in MVC3, which I prefer over the show. If Lang got the cold part of Doom down, then Dobson definitely gets his over-the-top hamminess down, what with him referring to himself in the third person (which Lang did only once, to my recollection). However, it is possible to get too much of a good thing, as Dobson's Doom appeared in 75% of the show. This was a really bad move on the showrunners' part, as Doom is a high-level villain. While he is usually the mastermind behind many plots, it's literally impossible for him to be behind ALL of them. I mean, he was behind Annihilus, behind the time meddling...again, too much of a good thing. Still, it was hard NOT to enjoy Dobson as Doom despite the overuse.

4) Simon Templeman- If Dobson was the overused Doom of WGH, then Templeman was the adequately used Doom. As the 90s voice of Doom (or at least, the best of them), Templeman's performance was pretty good for the time, since he nailed all the aspects of Doom before Revill did. While his voice was a little high, as I mentioned before he still managed to hit all of Doom's characteristics despite this, which is a good achievement. I would've loved to have seen him come back for Spider-Man: TAS for Doom's episode, since even though ALL of the F4 was being recast (and thank goodness for that), Templeman still made an exceptional Doom, at least for his time. He especially hit his sophistication and most definitely the ham.

5) Maurice LaMarche- While he is the lowest on my list of top 5 he still gives a pretty awesome performance to Doom. Like Templeman, he brings out a sophistication and ham for the good doctor, as well as some of the coldness of Lang's portrayal, though he retains the "doesn't sound the appropriate age" problem that Revill had. So is it really weird that I actually prefer his performance in Avengers Assemble than in USM? He actually made more appearences in AA, allowing LaMarche to bring his A-game material for Doom, and did he work? Well, it worked well enough for him to get a spot in my top 5, especially in "Planet Doom" and "The Ambassador". Those episodes were LaMarche's best, and those episodes earned him the number 5 spot (but not in a bad way).

Clive Revill nails all the aspects of Doom's character in every way: Regal, arrogant, mystical, and powerful, not to mention wise. Out of all the other VA's on the list, Maurice LaMarche is the person who comes close to topping Revill.

Ralph James, Paul Dobson, and to an extent Lorne Kennedy are enjoyable, yet far too modulated under thick vocal effects to call fully suitable performances.

Shepard Menken, Chris Britton, and especially Fred Tatasciore all had potential, but they all go a little too over the top to take serious. Doom is a hammy villain, yes, but one with finesse and subtlety as well.

The three VA's from the 94 animated series (John Vernon, Neil Ross, and Simon Templeman) have their own merits and are suitable fits, but I'd have to say Neil Ross' performance is the worst, due to somewhat stilted delivery. John and Simon are equally good, but a tad bit too light.

Now we get to Lex Lang. It's an intimidating voice, sure, but I find it to be too young sounding. Not a bad casting, and it would work just fine for Ultimate Doom of the Ultimate Marvel Universe, but not for the older, experienced version.

Tom Kane and Charlie Adler both fall victim to the voices they're putting on. Whereas Tom only focuses on the accent and sounds far too light, Charlie is far too raspy and overplayed. I think Tom would fare better, if he took the role in a completely different direction.

The rest are terrible. Whether it be bland and lifeless sounding (Julian ,Gideon, John Stephenson, and the UVA), or the pitch being completely wrong (Joseph Sirola), none hold any power or presence to their performances whatsoever.

1. Clive Revill - Perfect, just... perfect. He nails every single aspect of Doom. He sounds threatening, intelligent, arrogant, royal, powerful and just right amount of hammy.

2. Paul Dobson - He sounded little bit too deep and robotic for my taste, but he did really good job with Doom's character.

3. Lex Lang - He really captured menacing side of the Doom, but his voice was maybe litle bit too evil. Doom might be evil tyrant, but he also has his honorable side.

4. Fred Tatasciore - Really good voice and performance. I would love to hear Fred reprise the role in something more serious where he would get more juicier material to work with.

5. Simon Templeman/John Vernon - Both of them have really fitting voices for Doom, but their performances suffer from bad writing and voice directing.

6. Ralph James - Pretty good for 80s cartoon. Not big fan of the effect and I do wish that he was little bit deeper.

7. Chris Britton - Voice is pretty good, but he is waaaaaaayyyyyyy too hammy. Sure, Doom is very hammy villain, but Chris' permonce is so hammy that I can't take him as serious as a threat.

8. Neil Ross - Voice is fine, but performance is rather bland.

9. Maurice LaMarche/Tom Kane - Both are amazing voice actors, but they were miscast here badly. LaMarche doesn't sound menacing at all and every time he speaks I hear Calculon. Kane's voice is too soft and he overdid the accent.

10. Charlie Adler - I admit that his is just my personal bias talking, since I really dislike TSHSS and the way Doom was written in it. Objectively speaking Charlie does pretty good over-the-top and comedic villain role, but it just doesn't do it for me. Even with Fred's lego game performance there was some sense to menace to his voice. I also don't think that Doom should sound raspy.

11. Gideon Emery - Is kinda hard to be mad at the actor since the movie-Doom was horrible from the day one, but fact still stands that his voice is too soft and seriously lacks any menace or authority factor.

12. Julian McMahon - Every single problem I had with Emery is thousand times worse with McMahon. People who complain that Mandarin in Iron Man 3 is the worst movie version of comic book villain, clearly haven't watched Tim Story's F4 movies.

13. Lorne Kennedy - Kinda hard to say anything about him, since his clip is just mostly battle grunts. I supposed he sound too much like robot.

14. Shepard Menken - His too high voice and robot effect kill all the menca factor.

@Lion's Edge '3.5 years later...'

I like Lex Lang, he's a really good actor whom I've enjoyed in many roles, but to me his Doom performance was nothing special. It just sounded dull and boring, like a regular guy with some effects added to it.

The 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes fanboys' aspect of the poll was probably just a coincidence, didn't mean any malicious intent towards people who liked a good TV show.
Just my opinion mate, have a nice day. ;)

How is Lex Lang tied at with Clive at the moment? I don't hate EMH, but Lex lacks everything Doom should be. He nails the threatening vibe, but he doesn't sound loud, booming, or in-your-face like Doom should be.

@LordofEvil96 I dunno, I mean, take a listen to all of the VAs here. How many of them really exhibit that "loud, booming, in-your-face"-voice like you describe? Paul, obviously. And Charlie is loud and obnoxious, but the others? Very few of them are how you personally picture Doom to sound.

For me, Doom doesn't have to be deep and loud and booming. Can he be? Sure. But Doom is a tyrant, a leader of an entire country, one who is politically immune and lives alone in his solemn castle. A more quiet, reserved, toned-down voice like Lang or LaMarche fits Doom too. Doom is rarely a character who is out of control. He is in no rush, he knows that he'll get WHAT he wants WHEN he wants it. Doom is content to sit on his throne because he knows he is in control. But if he has to get up and get his hands dirty, he will. Just my thoughts. :)

@TylerMirage Though LeMarche has his moments, like in Planet Doom, his voice to me comes off is being too goofy for Doom a lot of the time, almost like he's over acting.

Paul is my favourite here with Clive a close 2nd.

Fred was really good, he should voice Doom more often.

A lot of the rest were pretty good though some were better than others & some I never thought Doom would sound like.

Tom has to be the worst as Doom did so not suit that accent.
said at 10:43 AM on Thu May 7 2015
@Ross123 Paul and Clive have really good voices. Nice choices. ;)

My favorite is Joseph Sirola. Yes, it may be a little bit high, but his acting was really spot-on. You should watch the episode in which he reveals his origin story.

A pretty close second would be Shepard Menken. He has a lot of menacing moments ("Release it, or I will crush your wrist!!!") and I absolutely love his evil laugh ("You have no choice!!! In a moment, hehe, I'll have him make a GIANT LANDMOWER!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!").

Henry Ramer (UVA) sounds like Der Teufel without the German accent and Ralph James sounds like James Earl Jones (though that was pretty deliberate, since Star Wars was very popular at the time).
said at 12:08 PM on Mon May 18 2015
@Starscreamsfan Thanks :).

Yep, I know Joseph is your favourite cause I read your list. I found his performance to be alright personally. I feel the same thing about Shepard, he's decent fit

But I'll be sure to check out the Dr. Doom origin story episode.

The UVA does sound somewhat like Der Teufel but I'm sorry to say that Ralph does sound like James Earl Jones, his voice is rather light compared to Jones's.

I have not had an ideal Doom QUITE yet, but Lex Lang is so far my favorite. Him and Simon Templeman are tied, at least. I don't really like Maurice LaMarche's Doom. Doesn't sound deep nor powerful enough for me.

However, there are three VAs in particular that I want to play Doctor Doom--

1) Steve Blum (after hearing his Count Vertigo, I thought to myself, "now THIS is a Doctor Doom I could get behind!")

2) John Noble (I hate to typecast such magnificent talent (as much as I do say he would make a better Ultron in The Avengers 2 than James Spader...) but that kind of power in his Brainiac and Unicron voices would be perfect.)

3) David Kaye (Apocalypse from X-Men: Evolution... that voice he did was GODLY. And it is a voice like THAT which would work great for Doom: deep, arrogant, powerful and almost godly. Also, perhaps add elements of his Megatron performance as well.)

Only reason I do not list Clancy Brown or Corey Burton here (I would love them to do Doom as well) is because I'd prefer for Clancy to play The Thing and Corey to voice Magneto.

1. Clive Revill - He has a fine accent and the perfect blend of deepness, malovelance, intelligence, and sophistication needed for the ultimate supervillain.
2. Simon Templeman - VERY much close to Revill in perfection. He has a calculating, scheming quality to his voice and his performance just oozes arrogance.
3. Lex Lang - Is similar to Templeman in how calculating and arrogant he sounds, but also sounds a bit...younger. But still a very strong performance.
4. Tom Kane - Ignoring how high pitched the clip is, I think the voice and acting is great here, and he's a worthy stand-in for Templeman. The problem is the accent. Was he going for Bela Lugosi or Ricardo Montalban here?
5. Maurice LeMarche - Not as memorable as the four I've mentioned, but very powerful and intidimating. The echo in his voice really helps here.
6. Ralph James - A precursor to LeMarche. Also has a powerful voice and great echo, and his performance actually holds up well.
7. Chris Britton - Very well acted and menacing, but a bit too similar to his Mr Sinister.
8. Paul Dobson - Good, but would be better if his voice wasn't filtered to be so unnaturally deep.
9. Neil Ross - He was okay.
10. Charlie Adler - As a comedic Doom, he works.

All the rest flat out suck. Joseph Sirola is completely ill fitting, Shepard Menkan is laughably hammy, I don't know what John Vernon was thinking but his voice sounds too light and overdone, Julian McMahon sucked in the movie and he sucked in the game, John Stephenson sounds like a grumpy old man, Lorne Kennedy sounds robotic, and the UVA is unknown for a reason.

I've decided to make my new icon the glorious visage of DOOM! To celebrate I am going to give my thoughts on all of these actors from the top down.

1.Joseph Sirola: First off, that picture of Doom looks very, VERY derpy. As for Joseph's performance, bleh. His voice is too light and he just has a weird way of speaking, it's hard to describe.

2.Ralph James: Pretty good. A little light for my tastes, but a decent performance overall. It kind of surprises me since I've found the acting from that Spider-Man show to not be very good.

3.Shepard Menken: Not that good. He likes any real power in his voice and seems to only have one tone of voice.

4.John Vernon: Again, not that good. His voice is too light and I swear he has a lisp or something.

5.Simon Templeman: Much better. He sounds very menacing and even a bit deranged at times. One of my favorites.

6.Tom Kane: Far too cheesy for my taste. His accent sounds ridiculous. Tom's Magneto is much better.

7.Julian McMahon: Movie Doom, bleh. He sounds far too flat. I can't tell what his emotion he was supposed to be expressing in that clip.

8.Clive Revill: He certainly has plenty of power and attitude behind his voice. What holds him back for me is that in the Gold Edition of Ultimate Alliance you can play as Doom and his battle quotes are not very good. He sounds much older and his delivery is off.

9.Paul Dobson:(FF:WGH) Pretty good, but not that good. I've been complaining about several of these voices being to light and Paul took it to the opposite extreme.

10.Charlie Adler: He works for Doom in Superhero Squad. I'm just not a fan of that characterization.

11.John Stephenson: His voice is pretty generic and doesn't have any kind of power to it.

12.Neil Ross: Pretty good. He did a good job on the accent, but he could be a bit inconsistent.

13.Lorne Kennedy: Not really special in any way. he wasn't very good, but certainly wasn't bad.

14:Unknown: Whoever this is he's by far the worst Doom. He sounds kind of like Peter Lorre and the way he enunciated some words was really weird.

15.Chris Britton: His voice is very menacing and his acting was strong. My only complaint is with his accent, it sounds more German than anything and he keeps slipping out of it.

16.Lex Lang: Lex's Doom is very different. He sounds colder and more calculating. Overall he did a very good job, although I don't carefor the effects they used.

17.Maurice LaMarche: I honestly don't like Maurice's Mr. Freeze that much(He was still good though), but he did a great job with Doom. He sounds very laid back, but you can still tell he's still very powerful.

So, who's my favorite? That would be someone who i s both on this list and yet not on it. Paul Dobson in Marvel vs Capcom 3, holy crap he was fantastic. He was loud, arrogant, and powerful. It was exactly like how I have always pictured Doom as sounding like. I even thought the effects on his voice were perfect. I don't think it's even possible for anyone to top him. And there you have it, my opinion on all of Doom's voice listed here. I just wish we had a good sample of Fred Tatasciore from that Avengers game, I bet he was great.

1: Clive Revill (this is how I've always pictured Doom; a deep menacing, arrogant filled voice with an accent. Revill was probably my favorite voice in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. He was absolutely brilliant).

2: Lex Lang (Lang got everything down that Revill had... Minus the accent. So that's why he's second. But he was great none the less. Loved that whole episode in general! He pleasently surprised me).

3: Mariuce LaMarche (Another great performance of LaMarche's already amazing work. He greatly showed the menace of Doom, but the only downside is that his voice reminds me of Mr. Freeze from Arkham City. Bit distracting).

4: Simon Templeman (Loved Simon's acting in this episode especially. He really got the overly dramatic side of Doom. Only problem, was his voice was too high, lacking the deep menace).

The problem I have with Lex is that he sounds too calm and doesn't always speak of himself in the third person.

Paul Dobson embodies everything that Doom resembles in the comics (or should): He always shouts, always refers to himself as Doom and has an accent. Plus, his voice couldn't be more majestic. I really hope he gets to voice Doom more often.

My opinion in no order is...

I like Chris Britton the most, his deep voice mixed with the effects is really menacing and the accent just makes it even better. His performance fits the royal tone Doom should have and sounds powerful

Lex Lang isn't bad, sounds a tad bit young though and I wish he tried an accent.

I like Maurice but he seems wooden and stiff, not one of his better roles. It's not the worst but I've hear better.

Clive Revill is my second favorite, he sounds regal but the deep powerful voice that sounds commanding, when he says 'Fools' he sounds really menacing. If I had to nitpick I'd but thicker effects but it's still good.

Charlie is the highest voice but he does well, grant it the show made Doom anything but a threat and the writing made Charlie go over the top too much but when he's talking slowly and calmly he sounds really good.

Ralph James is good as well, could have been deeper though but still sounds comanding and powerful but still regal.

Tome Kane needed effects on his voice and iut would have been better, I like he did an accent.

All three of the 1994 FF Dooms were good with sounding elegent but powerful and sinister. I do think Simon was the better of the three due to sounding more threatening but I like all of them

The rest are okay, pretty much generic villaisn their acceptable but nothing special.

However Julian is the weakest, he sounds wooden and bored and with no effects or accent he comes off generic

Paul Dobson. Just the most majestic and intimidating.

I'll show my age a little here but I think Joe Sirola nails Doctor Doom! It's classic Hanna-Barbera! Only Chris Britton even comes close to it!
said at 6:03 PM on Sun Nov 4 2012
@PWayneSmith I don't think he works well as a serious, intimidating Doom. ESPECIALLY with that accent have gave when he said his name. I'm referring to Sirola, of course.
said at 3:09 PM on Wed Mar 4 2015
@loredragonmaster If you watch the 67 Fantastic Four episode " The Way it All Began", you may see Sirola's Doom at his best. Yeah, his voice is higher, but is performance is excellent (he really seems to be having a lot of fun in the role).

Sirola is actually my favorite Doom, and I was born in the 90's!!!!

We Need John DiMaggio as Doctor Doom, but speaking like General Grevious.
said at 5:10 PM on Thu Jul 11 2013
@Mr.Fennoy93 Sorry to say but I really can't see that working. John DiMaggio's Grevious voice lacked any sort of power and it just sounded too light and weird. Therefore it wouldn't fit Doom at all.

@Mr.Fennoy93 Heh, if that's the case, then shouldn't Doom have a deep voice?
said at 4:28 PM on Wed May 2 2012
@TheVengeanceKnight Ralph James gave him one. The majority of the actors just went him an impression though. Doom was created in the early 60's well Darth Vader was created in the late 70's which is why he doesn't have a deep voice in most appearances. That and it's not that well known.

I think they all did a great job, except for the "Unknown Voice Actor", but that has more to do with the time, moreso than the skill.

Overall, I'd have to pick Lex Lang, Paul Dobson, Clive Revill and then Chris Britton. I'd really like to hear a more serious Charlie Adler version of Doom.
said at 1:07 AM on Thu Apr 5 2012
Lex Lang, Chris Briton, and Clive Revill are the best. Simon Templeman, Tom Kane, Neil Ross, John Vernon, and Ralph James follow close behind. The only one who might be on this list as ell is Maurice Lamarche who's performance won't be available till next when that episode of Ultimate Spider-Man airs.

@TheVengeanceKnight Lex Lang doesn't do much for me; he's not as menacing as someone like Paul Dobson.

@TheVengeanceKnight Maurice LaMarche is pretty decent as Doom. Definitely makes up for Lex Lang's lackluster performance.
said at 8:42 AM on Thu May 24 2012
@TheVengeanceKnight I have since changed my vote to Paul Dobson. Regardless of his villain decay in WGH, the deep voice was really menacing and suited him, and I hope he gets to play Doom again in a future animated series.

Well, they're all better than McMahon, but the best for me are Templeman and Adler.

I love Templeman because he doesn't bother with a goofy Eastern European accent and just concentrates on being an excellent villainous ham with that awesome voice.

Adler is one of the highlights of Super Hero Squad's regular cast, making Doom wonderfully silly but juuuuuust threatening enough.

Clive Revill and Paul Dobson simply are the best out of everyone!

I'm gonig with everyone else and saying that Clive Revill is the best of the bunch as he did have the right amount of menace Doom should have. Simon Templeman was pretty good, too. Julian McMahon was miscast in both the game and the actual movies.
said at 10:38 PM on Thu Apr 5 2012
@Anicomicgeek Now that it's been updated, I'm gonna give it to Lex Lang since he had a cool voice for Doom. That said, Clive Revill and Simon Templeman are still good, as is Paul Dobson, though I prefer his work in MvC3 over his work in WGH.

Unknown Guy - Sounds a bit generic; this could be the voice for just about any other villain.
Joseph Sirola - Um... no?
John Stephenson - Not bad as far as performance goes, but, like the Unknown VA, it's just a generic villain voice.
Ralph James & Shepard Menken - A step in the right direction.
John Vernon - Nothing special, but still better than Joseph.
Simon Templeman - He's okay, I guess.
Neil Ross - Definitely an improvement over the last few VAs. He sounds more villainous, with his deeper voice and thicker accent.
Tom Kane - Better than the VAs for the 90's FF cartoon (except for Neil Ross), but not as good as the ones from the other Spider-Man cartoons. Overall, he's pretty meh.
Lorne Kennedy - Kind of a generic robotic voice, but it could be a lot worse, considering the other VAs from the early Marvel vs. Capcom games.
Julian McMahon - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt; I remember him sounding better as Doom in the actual movie.
Paul Dobson - This guy's probably my favorite Doom VA... moreso in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but it's pretty good in FF too.
Clive Revill - I like him. He's good at sounding menacing, which is what a lot of these VAs fail to accomplish.
Charlie Adler - He does a more comical/hammy version of Doctor Doom... as well as smaller, so I suppose his higher pitched voice makes sense. Keeping this in mind, he excelled at being both menacing and comical when he needed to be. Overall, another one of my favorite VAs for Doom and one of the best performances on the show, IMO.

@camille_shs No offense but...Julian McMahon sucked. The guy's supposed to be European and he doesn't sound the part at all. It doesn't help that the Doom he was playing was a coorperate executive rather than an evil overlord of his own country.
