Voice Compare » Fairly OddParents » Timmy Turner
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Timmy Turner with sound clips and images.
Timmy Turner is the main character of the Fairly Oddparents TV series from Nickelodean. Timmy Turner is a young boy whom is known as "An Average Kid that no one understands" with really inept parents and has to constantly deal with Vicki the Evil Babysitter however he also has two Fairy Godparents by the names of Cosmo and Wanda. Timmy gets to make wishes that his Fairy Godparents will magically grant and even though these wishes usually turn out badly Timmy still does have a strong bond with his Fairy Godparents. Timmy also has some unrequited romantic issues with Trixie Tang (he has an unrequited crush on her) and Vicki's little sister Tootie (she has an unrequited crush on him).

EDITOR'S OPINION
Today we open the Fairly OddParents VC section and who better to start this off with than the main character of the series TIMMY TURNER! In the pilot episodes of Fairly Oddparents Timmy was voiced by the late Mary Kay Bergman. Mary's voice for the role had a very raspy boyish voice that did suit the role rather well. Mary's performance for the role did work fairly well for the role (and it works with how Timmy was a bit smarter in the earlier episodes.) But still Mary's work as Timmy Turner is a fine example of her work and an interesting change of pace as well (since she hardly ever did little boy voices).Ever since the Fairly Oddparents series began Tara Strong took over the role and was a fine substitute for the late Mary Kay Bergman. While Tara's voice for Timmy was never as raspy as Mary's I did notice on how she did try to sound a bit more like Mary's voice did earlier in the series (and did a pretty good job at it too). Granted nowadays Tara's voice for Timmy has gone a bit higher and squeakier but of course it still works well with the role here. Unlike Mary, Tara has is known for voicing young boys well and this is no exception as she does a rather energetic performance that suits Timmy's childish persona rather well. Overall I am not entirely sure who to go with here as both of these ladies did pretty well with this role here.

To be honest, I have always preferred Mary Kay Bergman as Timmy Turner and that was also why I loved The Fairly Oddparents shorts on Oh Yeah Cartoons more than the actual show. She really did sound like a ten-year old boy and I almost forget that I am hearing a voice actress play a young boy.
Tara Strong, well she does a great job at capturing Timmy's energetic nature and she is still voicing him to this very day. But, I am sorry to say this, especially to the Tara Strong fans, I found her voice way too young and hyperactive to be a ten-year-old.
Don't hate me for saying this, but hey, we all have our tastes and you all are entitled to your own opinions.

Every now and then Mary sounds a bit like she's doing Neville or Kearny from the Simpsons. But still a good voice.

Mary Kay Bergman gave a unique performance
but my vote goes to Tara Strong because her Timmy voice sounds age appropriate

I prefer Mary she was far less annoying, Timmy is probably the only role Strong does I don't care for.

They were both good! I guess I slightly prefer Tara because that's who I'm used to (it should also be noted that Tara later redubbed all of Mary's work for reruns of her episodes). Mary did sound a lot like a convincing boy, especially considering she usually did females, but I can believe it. This WAS MKB after all (she could've probably done a hundred different voices, and you wouldn't dream of considering them all coming from the same mouth). My only problem with her is that she sounds a TAD too old for the role. Her voice sounds like Timmy's about 13 or 14, wheres Tara has usually sounded age appropriate, but she's probably been sounding a little TOO young in recent seasons (but she's always sounded very much in-character). None of these voices are perfect IMO, but I guess I slightly prefer Tara, JUST slightly.
Another interesting tidbit: apparently Mary died the very day Fairly Odd Parents was picked up for series.

@MatthewC17 She sounds like her 'All Grown Up' Dil Pickles voice, but saying she sounds like him as a baby is going a bit too far.
