Voice Compare » Disney » Goofy
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Goofy with sound clips and images.
Goofy is one of Disneys most famous cartoon dogs and is the best friend of their most famous character, Mickey Mouse! Even though at times he shows his brain power he is usually depicted as clumsy, unintelligent and eccentric. However, he wears his emotions on his sleeve and has a giant heart.

EDITOR'S OPINION
I honestly am very torn on this one. I really want to hear everyones comments on to why one voice is better than the other. My initial response though is leaning toward both Pinto Colvig, the original voice and Bill Farmer, the current voice.OptimusSolo

Pinto Colvig for me. Goofy's character was based on his funny voice!

Since I was born and raised in the 90s, I have to admit that I'm pretty biased here, since Bill Farmer is the one I'm used to (frankly, he's the only one I've even heard at all outside this VC). Regardless, he's easily the best IMO, even just based on the given samples. He can really become dramatic, but still has a great sense of humor. Of course, he also had a nice, caring tone, making him more evocative of a father figure.
Pinto Colvig's the original though, and is just too classic to pass up. He's very much on par with Farmer, and Hal Smith is close behind. The other three are pretty good too, but none of them really stood out to me as Goofy.

Without hearing a single one, Bill Farmer IS Goofy.

Seems like the original voice actor and the current one are always the ones that work for me! I'm going with them on this one! Goofy is my favorite cartoon character of them all, and Bill really brings out what i love about him...Goofy's not just dumb and that's it. He's 3 dimensional!

While Bill Farmer is my favorite, I have a big soft spot for Hal Smith, since I love "Mickey's Christmas Carol."

Bill Farmer, absolutely. Not that the other guys aren't good. They did fine, but Farmer really brings out a lot more of the character's emotional qualities, particularly in A GOOFY MOVIE. In general, he is just a joy to listen to.

I think Bill Farmers' voice sample is wrong. All the samples have lines that are pretty optimistically spoken with a typical Goofy chuckle. Farmer has lines which are said with more drama. People might get the wrong image of his work because of this. And that would be sad, because I think he's one of the best Goofy's.

@Joop Well I respectfully disagree, I think it gives Farmer an advantage since it seems he gives more to the character. Actually this is the version of Goofy I always think about when I think about Goofy plus the Perfect Cast is a classic line. I also think having lines from A Goofy Movie makes sense. I respect and understand what you are saying but it doesnt seem to be hurting Farmer in the polls thus far

I also remember Tony Pope voicing Goofy on several Disney records from the late 1970s and early 1980s ("Watch Out for Goofy," anyone?)
