Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Hawkman with sound clips and images.
Franchise: DC Universe

Hawkman is a main member of the Justice League and in the history of comics, he has been distinguished by two incarnations. The first is being an archaeologist known as Carter Hall who attaches artificial wings to fly. The other is being a police officer called Katar Hol from the planet Thanagar. Both versions use the element known as Nth metal in their costume which grants them the ability of flight and strength. Hawkman's main weapon of choice is a mace, also made from Nth metal.

Sean sounds like Phil LaMarr's Green Lantern. That's awesome.

"I'm a superhero! And I say run! I'm Hawkman, dammit! Now get your bony ass out of here or find something to fight with!"

Nothing Much to Say, here are my Top 5 Favourite Hawkman Voices:

5. David Kaye
4. William Katt
3. Michael J Gough/ James Remar
2. Sean Schemmel
1. Robert Patrick

Future VA Suggestions:

I'm Thinking Robert Belgrade would be Fantastic as Hawkman. A cross between his Alucard and Signas voices would be really fitting.

As controversial as this sounds, I Also think that Jason Dohring would be solid as Hawkman, using a more Bombastic version of his Terra Voice.

I also Recommend Garry Chalk, Michael Chiklis, Marc Diraison and Jonathan Frakes.

I actually like Michael J Gough the most. Like Starscreamsfan said "he's absolutely boss here. He sounds convincingly authoritative and he has a pretty awesome 'don't mess with me' attitude." The others seem kinda flat or off to some degree.

Jack Angel delivers a pretty solid performance. He sounds tough, powerful and badass (then again, I've always found Angel's voice to be pretty badass).

Travis Willingham, like Angel, sounds pretty badass and tough. Plus, his comedic timing is great.

Vic Perrin may have a lighter voice, but gosh, his delivery is absolutely intense and energetic. If Hawkman had appeared in the 1940's Superman radio show, Perrin should have played him.

William Katt is pretty enjoyable. He seems to have fun in the role, but he also has a pretty nice fatherly tone, which I really like.

Michael J. Gough is pretty badass. Gosh, he's absolutely boss here. He sounds convincingly authoritative and he has a pretty awesome "don't mess with me" attitude.

James Remar, David Kaye, Jason Liebrecht, Carlos Alazraqui and Sean Schemmel also deliver really fitting performances.

Robert Patrick and Phil Morris are nice, but they're kinda one note, but they're still pretty enjoyable. Morris is a little inconsistent. When he's screaming, he seems to be doing his own thing, but when speaking normally, he seems to be channeling Jack Angel. It's weird, but even then, those "KA-KAW!!!" noises he made really amused me.

So, overall, my picks would have to be Jack Angel and Travis Willingham, but all these guys did a great job.

I've heard Troy Baker as Hawkman in "Repulse", and he's just great. He does sound pretty badass and he does have a good sense of humor. He's a close second right after Jack.

Sean Schemmel as Hawkman. Not bad. Not bad at all. Would like to see him do a more serious take on Hawkman. I'd say he's a step up from Travis Willingham from Lego Batman 3.

I find it funny that Hawkman has some DBZ looking eyes in DC Super Friends.
Sean is okay, not much to say beyond that due to the lack of material.

I like Phil Morris and I get the LEGO projects are lighter fare, but really? The "Ka-Kaw" threw me out a bit, but otherwise, he did good, though I'm sticking with Robert Patrick.

I think he has a suitable gruffness to him though.

I thought Travis was good despite his limited material.
While I can get why people would call it inconstant I would like to point out that the first line is when he's in costume and the second is when he has his mask off. My theory is that the first voice is Hawkman in "Warrior Mode", it's how he sounds in battle but the second line is when he's out of costume, home alone with his wife and what not.

William Katt is the best one here.

I'm sorry, but James Remar is so boring here that I could probably use this clip to help put me to sleep. Just... good grief, what a dull performance. Michael J. Gough is a little better, but it's still kinda boring. Out of the top three most voted performances, I'd say Robert Patrick is definitely the best. He sounds distinct and he makes the character sound experienced and authoritative, his delivery is excellent, and he has both the tough, hard edge Gough has with the gentle and caring sound James Remar has... without causing me to slip into a coma from sheer boredom. It's a pretty darn good performance.

Carlos Alazraqui's acting is good, but the voice is a little forced and he sounds too young. David Kaye is pretty good, but several of his lines sound unnatural. William Katt is very good and I love his enthusiasm, but I think he would be excellent if he sounded a little more tough. Vic Perrin and Jack Angel are nothing special, but I much prefer Jack Angel. Last but not least, I like Jason Liebrecht's power and enthusiasm, but his voice isn't quite low enough.

Overall, my favorite is Robert Patrick, but William Katt, David Kaye and Jason Liebrecht are the three that stick out the most to me with the rest of the voices.

He's not a character I'm very familiar with, but Michael J. Gough sounds the closest to what I imagine him sounding like. David Kaye, Robert Patrick and James Remar all did well, too. Oh, and Jack Angel was pretty good. Sometimes the voices from those old shows can be pretty hokey, but Jack was good.

it's close between James Remar and Jack Angel they were both so good. plus Vic Perrin was good too. i alos like Micheal Gough and William Katt

My order from best to worst:
Robert Patrick
David Kaye, we need more of him as this character
Michael J Gough
William Katt
James Remar
Vic Perrin
Jack Angel
Carlos Alazraqui, I like his work & all, but Hawkman just isn't his character.

On second thought, the JLU Hawkman DID identify his past life as Katar Hol, not Khufu and James Remar is the better voice regardless, so I'm gonna change my vote to him.

Not DCAU, but Bruce Greenwood and Jeff Bennett came back respectively for Batman and Abra Kababra, so while not much of one, there is some basis.

Well, that depends on which Hawkman. After all, some of these guys were Carter Hall and some are Katar Hol. For Carter, James Remar, though Michael Gough was good, too. For Katar, Robert Patrick.
said at 1:39 AM on Sun Feb 12 2012
@Anicomicgeek David Kaye's good, too, though since I don't watch the DC Super Friends stuff, I don't know which Hawkman he's supposed to be.
said at 6:25 AM on Mon Mar 19 2012
@Anicomicgeek Well, I've recently seen the DC Super Friends short--and they didn't identify which Hawkman he was.
said at 4:04 AM on Wed Nov 28 2012

I suppose, given how they combined Katar and Carter for JLU, that one could make the case that James Remar counts as Katar, too.
said at 12:14 AM on Sun Dec 23 2012
Forgot to add this, but I'm still sticking with Robert Patrick For Karar since I still see the JLU Hawkman as more Carter.
