Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Captain Planet with sound clips and images.
Captain Planet is the eponymous hero of the Captain Planet series and is the superhero summoned by the Planeteers. Captain Planet is the guardian of Earth who has a lot of elemental powers alongside the usual superpowers such as flight, super speed and strength (though his weaknesses are various forms of pollution). In order for Captain Planet to appear the Planeteers must use their rings to summon Captain Planet though he only appears to save the Planeteers from the trouble they are in and always disappears whenever he saves the day. Captain Planet is a good old fashioned example of a Super Hero who frequently taunts his foes as he normally uses plenty of puns in every episode but when he is not giving out puns he speaks about the moral of the episode (which is usually but not always related to the environment).
EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Captain Planet VC section we take a look at the titular character of the series CAPTAIN PLANET! Let us begin shall we?
David Coburn- Yeah I know say what you will about how preachy the show was and how goofy Captain Planet's puns were but David's work on the role is not bad. David's voice for the role felt pretty natural for the role as his performance does suit a traditional taunting Super Hero and is a good example of the voice work in the show.
Yuri Lowenthal- I understand that Yuri didn't really try to sound like David which is not a bad thing in fact it can be potentially be a good thing but his voice for the role does sound rather odd. However one thing to keep in mind is that unlike the show CP barely had any lines in this game so its not like Yuri had a good amount of material to work with here. But to be fair while Yuri's voice for the role does seem a bit off at least he did a decent job in playing CP as a good old fashioned superhero but this is an okay at best example of Yuri's work.
Overall I am clearly going with David here as Yuri was okay but his work on the role could've been a lot better.
