Robin / Jason Todd

Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Robin / Jason Todd with sound clips and images.
Franchise: Batman

Jason Todd is the second person to assume the identity of Robin, after Dick Grayson became Nightwing. His life as Robin was short lived, where he died at the hands of Batman's arch nemesis, the Joker.

Jason was trained in the same manner as Dick and his preferred weapons are a dagger and throwing blades (which are based off of Batman's batarangs)

Vincent martella for the win for me

Side note: I think Robbie daymond, Ricco Fajardo, Vincent tong, and Houston hayes would make good choices for Jason todd

I'm gonna not count Troy as his is older but both Martella did the job

Troy was good for his scenes as the tortured, broken Robin in Arkham Knight. Vincent Martella worked well for the enthusiastic child version too. Vincent Martella works best out of the three though, due to capturing the brash and troubled teen Jason. I hope he gets a reprisal one day.

VC thoughts update

Despite the fact that he gets less material than the others, Troy Baker does have potential. I wouldn't mind a reprisal.

Vincent Martella is pretty good. He does have good energy, but his delivery can get kinda wonky at times.

Alexander Martella does fit the younger Jason pretty well.

Alexander Martella is perfect for the younger Jason Todd as well as Robin, full of energy and an upbeat attitude, not much to say on that front.

For the older Jason Todd, Vincent Martella's performance fits more than Troy Baker's does here, Vincent having a much sharper and commanding delivery, whereas Troy sounds a bit too deep as well as feeble (at least in this clip, I agree with GreenGoblin75 that he sounded better as Robin).

Been waiting for Baker to be added here for a while.

Wish he had more than just the torture scenes for Jason's time s Robin, but he was alright.

I thought Troy sounded better as Robin then Older Jason Todd, he especially did a good job in the scenes where Jason was getting tortured. The clip here is short, but he got a little more in Arkham Knight.

But I still think he sounds a little too old.

Troy's clip is pretty hard to make out. He's alright I guess. Might have been better to use a clip from Arkham Knight.

Speaking of Arkham Knight Troy was very whiney as Jason Todd, especially leading up to his reveal. He's much better as Red Hood.

@Shaun Ince

He's not Robin in Arkham Knight.

@NCZ I know. But the Arkham Knight's secret identity is Jason Todd. I just feel the torture scenes from that game might have been a better example cuz all that stuff happened before he became the Arkham Knight.

Anyway at least there's a clip for Troy. Can't argue with that.

For some reason I'm kinda curious on how Vincent would sound voicing Jason when he's Red Hood.

1) Alan Marriott (BBC DC radio dramas)
2) Vincent Martella
3) Alexander Martella

Alexander did it better but they both work for what they are

Both are great, but as a personal taste I prefer Vincent for his taste of darkness. And... I know that technically the Robin in JLA:Trapped in Time has no official identity, but he's always seemed extremely Jasony to me. Impertinent, aggressive, snarky with a heart of gold. If I were to factor in Jack DeSena here, he'd get my vote. As is, I go with Vincent.

They're both the same version of the character, just at different ages, and I like them both the same. I think that Josh Keaton or Crispen Freeman would be good for a teenage Jason Todd.

Both are pretty good, but I find Alexander's acting to be slightly more enjoyable, so I'll go with him.

Vincent is better as Alexander sounds too young.
said at 9:24 PM on Sun Dec 8 2013
@Ross123 The character he was voicing WAS young. Vincent voices the grown up version. They both fit.
said at 8:53 AM on Mon Dec 9 2013
@Galactic_Cyrus I think it's mainly because I prefer an adult Robin compared to a younger version of him.
said at 11:25 AM on Mon Dec 9 2013
@Ross123 Still, he has to be the BOY Wonder at some point! XD
said at 11:50 AM on Mon Dec 9 2013
@Ross123 Galactic_Cyrus Of course, we are missing Jensen Ackles here, which is his voice when the character is a true adult. Here it's preteen and teen Jason Todd, but since Jensen's Jason wasn't Robin anymore he can't be added to the compare. :(
said at 1:22 PM on Mon Dec 9 2013
@Galactic_Cyrus Fair do's. I honestly don't mind him sounding young from time 2 to time. I was only voicing my opinion on what I like better.

Who knew Phieneas could be such an awesome Jason Todd? His brother made a good kid Jason too.

Hardly fair to compare the two voices when it's just the same character only aged. But, I do love how they used siblings (I think) it makes the voices seem like they aged well.

not much of a compition if its only between the martella bros.. vincent would obvious be the favorite because he had more lines than his little bro in this movie XD

@Bombermanp if we're lucky maybe we'll get a flashback of Jason in Young Justice or in the upcoming Dark Knight Returns animated movie.
said at 6:15 PM on Thu May 3 2012
it would be AMAZING if he appeared in Young justice
redhood vs Nightwing anyone?
Foxwolf (Admin)
said at 2:19 AM on Fri May 4 2012
@Bombermanp I read a comment that suggested when Nightwing said "just don't die", he might've been hinting that Jason died. obviously it's up for interpretation but I agree, Red Hood vs Nightwing would be boss.
said at 2:53 AM on Fri May 4 2012
@Foxwolf TV Tropes? 'cause I read something like that there. I'm hoping that's the case; I'd hate for YJ to be another series that went from Richard to Tim and skipping Jason. And yeah, Red Hood vs. Nightwing would be awesome. XD

@TheVengeanceKnight Greg Weisman (one of the creators) said that as long as Young Justice is on the air, they'll tell as many stories concerning our characters as possible. I REALLY hope Cartoon Network doesn't kill the show after it hits the syndication episode limit.

@Foxwolf ..*looking at what they did to toonami at 2008* 50$ say they throw it to the toilet like everything else they do to good shows and temperay blocks.

@Bombermanp *sigh*, it's a sad greed filled world we live in. I don't really know all the studio/network politics but I see that at least on Nickelodeon, shows that are popular don't get cancelled for no reason. eg. Spongebob.
said at 9:50 AM on Fri May 4 2012
@Foxwolf Unless they expand the DC Nation block, I'm thinking either YJ or GLTAS (probably YJ, since GLTAS is relatively new) will be removed in favor of Beware the Batman.
Foxwolf (Admin)
said at 4:49 PM on Fri May 4 2012
@TheVengeanceKnight from what I'm read, Beware the Batman will be an addition to the existing block. Which is good, coz 1 hr really isn't a block :P 2 hours of DC shows would be sweet, even if they ran reruns of an old series to fill the last spot.
said at 10:11 PM on Fri May 4 2012
@Foxwolf Oh good! Yeah it would be cool if they ran reruns of BTAS, STAS, JL/U, TT and shows like that to show the current generation of children where DC animated shows all began, so to speak. =)
