Voice Compare » Batman » Baby Doll
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Baby Doll with sound clips and images.
Baby Doll is another one of Batman's foes whom was actually made for Batman The Animated series (unfortunately unlike other DCAU series created characters such as Harley Quinn and Terry McGinnis she was never in the comics). Baby Doll's real name is Marion Louise "Mary" Dahl and like many villains in the Batman Animated Series she has a tragic backstory as Mary is a washed-up former child actress whom played the title character in the old sitcom "Love That Baby" when she was 5 years old, however she has a rare disease which is why she has the body of a little girl even though she is actually an adult. When the show "Love That Baby" ended Mary tried to have an acting career after the show was over (she was in a play of "Macbeth" but the play was a flop), Mary tried to get any sort of work at all after the show ended but she just couldn't get a job at all. Mary was going through a lot of stress until she realized that the time she spent on the show "Love That Baby" was the only time in her life that she can think of that she was happy unfortunately this has caused her mind to snap and she has went into a life of crime.

EDITOR'S OPINIONToday on the Batman VC section we have a little something for this little lady here by the name of BABY DOLL! We will begin with the Batman Animated series in which she was voiced by Alison LaPlaca. One thing I liked about Alison's voice work for the role was that she did a cutesy higher voice for her "Baby Doll" voice and a more moderate toned voice for her actual voice. Alison's performance did suit the role on how Baby Doll is lets just say an Adult Child whom is having a hard time letting go of her past. (Or in other words a deconstruction of the idea of child characters "Never Growing Up".) So in other words Alison's work as Baby Doll is another fine example of the voice work in the show on how the show definitely knew how to make a sympathetic villain.
Baby Doll was a one-episode character in Batman the Animated and she was also a one-episode character in The New Batman Adventures and this time Laraine Newman gets to take over the role here. Unlike Alison, Laraine doesn't do so much of a voice shift as she voiced Baby Doll but it still works with Baby Doll's "Insane Womanchild" persona well enough. As for performance Laraine does a rather solid performance as while Laraine does play up how childish Baby Doll can be but the fact that Baby Doll is an adult in a child's body is not forgotten though. So in other words Laraine's performance for the role was very good and is one of her better VA performances. Overall I am going with a tie as both of these ladies did very well with the role here.
