Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Barbie with sound clips and images.
As the Top-Selling doll of all-time, Barbie needs no description. For over 50 years girls everywhere have had the enjoyment of owning, dressing and playing with a variety of Barbie dolls. However, it took until the 1980s for us to put a 'voice' to the classic character.
We first heard Barbie's voice on a television special in 1987 entitled, Barbie and the Rockers: Out of This World. In this performance she was voiced by Sharon Lewis the voice of Broo from the 80s hit The Raccoons. In both the Dance! Workout with Barbie Video as well as in all of the Toy Story related appearances Barbie was voiced by Jodi Benson, best known as Ariel in the Little Mermaid. Then came the direct-to-video movie series in which we heard Kelly Sheridan voice Barbie in 17 straight films only to hand over the reigns to Diana Kaarina in 2010.
Barbie has also had a voice in the video game world. In the 90s her game voice was provided by Chris Anthony. She has also been voiced in video games by Danielle Judovits and Anndi McAfee but unfortunately we have not been able to find audio to include these two in our voice compare for now.

Kelly Sheridan is awesome as Barbie but I'll remember her always from InuYasha :D

Hi Everyone!
I had the privilege of being the voice for Barbie in the early 90's for almost 8 years! Mattel asked me to make her very sweet & innocent so that every little girl wanted to be her friend.
Our first doll we recorded was "Super Talk Barbie" who actually said over 10,000 phrases! ( so I did a lot of talking!haha) We went on to record Dentist Barbie, Teacher Barbie, Spanish Barbie, Working Women Barbie, The Holiday Singing Sisters Barbie, Cool Shopping Barbie, and Computer Barbie whose mouth went up & down & said every girls name that played with her! ( that took us 3 weeks to record her)Barbie story books. Barbie cash register, Barbie cell phones, Barbie Lap top, Barbie Hotel, Barbie Kitchen, Barbie trike, Barbie mirror, Barbie Walkie Talkies, Barbie key chain, Barbie Door bell, Barbie Tote, Barbie Watch, 30 Barbie CD Roms, Barbie purse, Barbie Boom Box..on & on & on, if it talked we recorded it! haha It was a big honor for me to record for the voice of such an important Icon. Thank you Mattel for such an honor..Chris Anthony

Kelly don't make Barbie sound superficial. She sounds more like a real person. The why I loved the barbie movies was because Barbie seemed more like a person instead of an ultrafabulous super fake doll that led the idea of girls starving themselves to look good.

Kelly :). I grew up with her voice. But I also grew up with Chris' voice on 2 playstation games I played so much in the 90's. So I like her too

I like Kelly Sheridan more than the others. Her voice is really matching with Barbie and it sounds beautiful

I'm going to be bias and pick Jodi Benson I'm not a Barbie fan but Benson's performance in Toy Story 2 was rather suiting

Sheridan sounds more like how I'd imagine the character to sound looking at her appearance.

They all sound alike, but I prefer Sheridan for sounding the most natural...
