Voice Compare » Adventure Time » Finn the Human
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Finn the Human with sound clips and images.
Finn the Human is a 12-years-old hero with an awesome hat and a penchant for shouting math-related exclamations (despite being bad at the subject itself). Finn has an irresistible urge to help others no matter what as a result of not being helped as a child. Finn has a poorly-hidden romantic interest in Princess Bubblegum.
In the original short aired on Nickelodeon, Finn is voiced by Zack Shada. In the main series on Cartoon Network, Finn is voiced by Jeremy Shada.

I honestly don't get what's so interesting about Finn the Human. He only makes the other VA's like Hynden Walch, John Dimaggio, Tom Kenny, Ron Perlman etc. look better by comparison.

@Mrguy22594 Not a fan of the show, or Finn in particular?

@Mrguy22594 What don't you like about them? I'm not trying to get into an argument, I just like to see all viewpoints. I mostly see people talk about this show as if God made it himself.

@VctrBnsn The show's characters are just god awful in terms of personality, the villain sucks, the main protagonist is way too One dimensional to actually like and the side characters range from either average or just as bad as the main hero and the main villain. And the story of the show is just also god awful. Except for that one segment with this song on a badass adventurer that is infinitely better than Finn the human.

Jeremy has gotten better with age, I really love his voice, but Zack had a youthful and entertaining performance as well. I'll go with Jeremy though.
Whoo, finally, I contributed to this VC, which has always been most popular for some reason : P

Coming at this as someone who's never seen the show, Zack Shada's performances in these clips were better.

Figures that Jeremy is winning since everyone is more familiar with him. Though to be honest, they're both equally great and performed their respective jobs admirably.

Not just in the voice, but I don't know exactly why o:

Ever since I've joined this has been the most popular Compare. What's with that?

@LordofEvil96 I guess it's so popular simply because it's connected to a really popular show.

Adventure Time won't last much longer when this kid grows up :P

@RyanRules95 Well they've addressed the whole thing with Jeremy getting older in the show simply by having Finn continually get older too. At the beginning of the series he was 12 but now he's 14.

@Maron Yep, and the producers of Adventure Time have made it known that they intend to keep Jeremy Shada as Finn no matter how much puberty changes his voice. Which is great in my opinion; I love how faithful they are to Jeremy, and how they actually make it so that Finn grows up in Ooo. Really adds to the show.

@coolgeek176 It hasn't always been like that though. There WAS a time here before this VC even existed, and around when it was actually made, it wasn't anywhere near as popular as it has been for a long time now.

I don't understand why this is always the most popular compare of the week.

@GothamRed My best guess is that new episodes of Adventure Time air every Monday, which is when the "Most Popular This Week" counters get reset. Naturally, after watching the show, the viewers come visit the show's page here and lead themselves to this voice compare upon noticing it.

I like Adventure time yeah its a kids show but my cousins like it plus it has a very creative setting and characters.

I've been thinking, is there maybe a way to "hide" this VC? I mean like PW13 said, it's flabbergasting how this VC always gets the most views every week, especially since this isn't a heated comparison, and (I might add) that Adventure Time isn't very well-received, to say the least. :-/

@pokemastanumba1 Why would we hide a perfectly fine VC? Also, Adventure Time IS well-received. It has its haters, but it's not unanimously agreed to be a horrible series.
Replysaid at 3:45 PM on Thu Aug 23 2012
@NCZ I just don't understand why this particular VC is so popular. For the most part, VCs tend to be completely forgotten about only a week (or two) after they're made, unless it's for an iconic character (i.e. Ash, Superman, Batman, Sonic) or when a performance is newly added/updated.
As for Adventure Time, have you seen the ratings?

@pokemastanumba1 - Didjyou jest say that ADVENTURE TIME, thee best cartoon EVER created since the Dawn of Man, isn't "very well-received'? I politely disagree! With its references to Dungeons & Dragons and other obscure topics, perhaps it is too much humor for your mind to grasp! Adv. Time is THEE BEST EVER. Period.
Replysaid at 7:20 PM on Thu Aug 23 2012
@SKELETOYS Eh, it seems like a pretty good show, but I wouldn't go THAT far.
Replysaid at 9:13 PM on Thu Aug 23 2012
@SKELETOYS Wow, just calm down.
I meant it's generally not well-received. I understand that it's a favorite among its targeted demographic (children under the age of 10, obviously), so it certainly has an established fanbase. Just don't expect everyone beyond your age group to actually be enthralled with a cartoon about a 12-year-old kid wearing a doofy hat and has ADHD.
No offense to anyone who's a fan of Adventure Time though.

@pokemastanumba1 It actually does have a considerably-sized fandom outside its target audience.
Replysaid at 10:07 PM on Thu Aug 23 2012
@pokemastanumba1 - I apologize. I didn't mean to be such a loud mouth about it. I was born in 1965 so I'm fairly sure I don't fall in show's demographics. I grew up on Kimba the White Lion, The Flintsones, and all things Hanna Barbera. I like the subtle intelligence I find in Adventure Time and it's become a favorite of mine. Of course, I actually like Squidbillies and Aqua Teens just a tad more but those are REALLY an acquired taste! Another point I'd like to (calmly) make about Adventure Time is the brilliant music throughout the series! Hard to find that kind of creativity in your average kid's show. I respect your opinion pokemastanumba1 and am sorry if I was offensive. Peace.

Back on-topic, I'm just getting tired of how this VC keeps getting the most views every week; it even recently became the most popular VC of all time! And if it really gets the most views, then wouldn't it have a LOT more votes? I find it really funny how the higher number hasn't even hit the 60 mark (as of me typing this).

I like Jeremy, since his voice is deeper..but Zack looks a-lot like Finn whenever he takes his hat off.

I remember Jeremy Shada from Miracle Run. That was a great movie since it had a cool message: autism. Which is coincidental since I have autism, myself.
Now for whom I'll be voting for... neither of them, to be honest. I don't quite care for Adventure Time. But I will still give props to both Shadas.

Why is it that Jeremy's voice is deeper in pitch, and he has a childish face, but Zack looks much older than him, but has a childish voice?

I honestly think Zack sounds too high pitched for the voice of Finn. I definitely think Jeremy has a more scratchy voice and it just fits Finn's character better.

in my own opinion i think that Zack has more of a higher pitched voice and isnt compatable with Finn's. :/ it just seems that way

Hmmm...Christy, you have to realize the original short (where Zack voiced) was leaked onto the internet in 2006. Jerermy's voice for Finn was first shown on TV in 2010. So, at the time, Zack was way younger than he was now (puberty'll do that) so even though Jeremy sounds deeper, that's natural because now Jeremy is older than Zack was back then. Yeah, pretty confusing... anyway, I prefer Zack's voice, because he sounds young and naive, like he is. Jeremy's a really good actor, but he doesn't bring that sense to Finn. He's too old to sound that young (his voice cracks A LOT in the series, when he yells) for him, though, so cut him some slack.
