Voice Compare » Ace Attorney » Phoenix Wright
Comparision of the voice over actors who have been the voice of Phoenix Wright with sound clips and images.
Phoenix Wright is a lawyer and the main character in Capcom's Ace Attorney series. He s well-known for his amazing skills at turning the tables; whenever it looks as though he's about to lose a case, Phoenix will rise above (hence his name) and make an incredible recovery. Among his friends he's often called "Nick".

EDITOR'S OPINION
This one is tough. I like the energy that Ben has in his delivery, but I also quite like the voice that Sam uses. In the end I'll give it to Sam because he's had more of a chance to show his skills, but Ben did a great job considering the limited voice work in the series itself.NCZ

Ben Judd. Sam's just using a default voice for Phoenix.

Why I enjoyed Sam's performance in the game, especially with lines like "I have more evidence." and "Something suspicious." He's just doesn't have the amount of power that Ben gave to the role. They are both great regardless.

The only problem I have with Sam's voice is that sounds to young. The voice seems like it would fit Apollo better. However, he did get the fish out of water personality just right.

This is a tough one. Sam Riegel may have said more than five words and that's certainly an advantage, but he just doesn't have the same energy as Ben Judd or the iconic factor. I think I'll go with Ben for now.

Torn, really torn. I loved how Ben Judd, for not even being professional, voiced those five words in the series, but I absolutely adore Sam Riegel's voice for him since it sounded like basically like the voice I expected with a slight difference or two. I think I'll go give it to Sam Riegel.

I can't stand Sam Riegel's Phoenix Wright voice, he's a fine actor, sure, but I don't think he suits Phoenix at all, it sounds way too whiny.
Ben Judd is just so iconic and fitting for Phoenix Wright, to me he comes across as a bit clumsy at times, but when the chips are down he can take action, turn the tables and win the case, his voice really reflects this and his voice also sounds somewhat stern and I really like that.
So yeah, I'm going for Ben Judd here.

While Sam Riegal was able to capture the personality of the character quite well, Ben Judd's performance is simply too Iconic

As much as I like Ben Judd's performance (and to some extent, Shu Takumi; the original VA for Phoenix Wright/Ryuichi Naruhodo) since it has some pretty cool delivery, I actually have to give this one to Sam Riegel.
