Only game with american voice actors.

 3 Shout Outs!
Second best of the Xenoblade dubs, Wendee Lee once again has proved to be a great voice director and it really shows here.

My favorite performances from this game are Caitlin Glass as Elma, Michael Sinterniklaas as Gwin, Matthew Mercer as Lao, Ray Chase as L, Carrie Keranen as Irina and Kaiji Tang as Yelv.

Other things I enjoyed are the avatar voices (yes I do mean all of them), was really nice to see they got Adam Howden and Carina Reeves from the first game back for that and the Texas VA's (Caitlin Glass, Josh Grelle, Alexis Tipton) showing up in this title.

Given that XCX ended on a cliffhanger, I wonder what the chances of a XCX-2 is. I sure hope a sequel is being considered to continue the storyline.
said at 7:56 PM on Sun Jan 21 2018
@MizukaS I hope so too. At least the director of Monolith Soft is interested in a Switch port for XCX, which will likely appeal to those wanting to play it on that.
said at 9:10 PM on Sun Jan 21 2018
So I guess it's a matter of time until XCX-2 shows up on Switch, then. Fingers crossed.

I'm surprised that the Dub for the game doesn't have a mostly UK based Voice cast like its predecessor.

said at 6:34 AM on Wed Nov 16 2016
@EPA Deane

The first game was dubbed in the UK mainly because Nintendo of Europe were responsible for the localization. Xenoblade X was localized by Nintendo of America and the game's setting of "New Los Angeles" meant UK voice actors wouldn't have been as fitting.

@NCZ I'm not complaining as the voice work in this is just as good as the original.

It's just the previous game's UK voice work had a distinctive charm that felt unique compared to other video game dubs (using LA or Texas based voice actors).

I know I'm whining, but that's just my opinion.

I have to say. Both this and Fire Emblem Fates are probably two of my favourite english dubs from Nintendo to be honest. Casting is pretty on point for both of then!

I think my favourite performances so far are Ray Chase as L and Matt Mercer as Lao. Oh, and Micheal Sinterniklaas as Gwin and Caitlin Glass as Elma are pretty awesome too!

Finished this quite sometime ago, and I have to say that it's probably one of my favorite games now. If you're a fan of rpgs in any way, PLAY IT. Though you probably already have.

And after playing, I'm pretty certain that murderess is voiced by karen strassman. I recognize that kitana voice from anywhere.

I'm definitely going Bryce on my character. Let's see Eren show his full potential!

I picked Cristina Vee as the voice of my protagonist. Nova's been kicking some monster butt! These monsters need to pay off their debt.

Ughh I have to wait until my finals are over before I get this otherwise I'll fail all my classes... These 10 days will suck. Can't wait to hear this awesome cast in this game.

It looks like they took most of the cast of Tales of Zestiria and put them in this game. Good choice.

@Joel the Pokekid Directed by Wendee Lee so yeah! :D
said at 12:48 PM on Mon Nov 30 2015
Is Cup of Tea directing this?

said at 2:14 PM on Mon Nov 30 2015
@Dawnlight Yeah, it's Wendee Lee.
said at 5:00 AM on Tue Dec 1 2015
@NCZ That explains the Texas voice actors. Love how Wendee Lee is being very diverse with the talent pool. It worked really well in the Tales games.

 1 Shout Out!
Those actors that were in this and not in Fire Emblem Awakening. Expect them in Fire Emblem Fates.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 5:52 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@Unknownsage13 It's refreshing to see that even though Awakening used a large amount of the non-union talent pool, they've still managed to get no shortage of new faces for this and Fates so far.
said at 6:02 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
Nice to see I wasn't the only one thinking that. Awakening used like 70% of the people at Cup of Tea so I was wondering who would be left for Fates, but here we are three years later with tons of new faces working there.
said at 10:32 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@NCZ Yep! When I was looking through the Awakening cast I was like, "Crap! That's everyone" but then as I was looking at various recent dubs and JRPGs I saw that even that game was missing a ton of the bigger stars. Like some of the more recent stars like Cassandra Lee Morris and CristinaVee weren't in it. And there were even various long time non-union stars like Vic Mignonia and Johnny Yong Bosch weren't in it.
And luckily there'll always be more. Like we have the Texas stars that have relocated like Brina Palencia and Cherami Leigh.
We got the voice actors that are on and off again with their anime voice acting like Lex Lang and Megan Hollingshead.
Then there'll be the newbie stars.
Heck, if it really ever does become a problem they could go union for one game or do the recording at a studio in Texas cuz there's plenty of talent there.
said at 10:37 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@BlueHeracross AND *points to Alexis and Caitlin* A couple guest stars from Texas AND *points to Cherami* a traitor from Texas!
said at 8:27 AM on Fri Nov 27 2015
How did you figure out that Michael McConnohie and Eden Riegal were both in this game? I didn't see either of their names in the credits file I saw. Could it be that they were accidentally left out?
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:31 AM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@JTurner As I mentioned below the English cast credits are like Fire Emblem Awakening in that *most* of the voice actors are credited but not all.

Nagi is totally Michael McConnohie, who's started working uncredited or as "Geoffrey Chalmers" in recent times so it makes sense for him to be left off. Ryyz sounds a lot like Eden Riegel who was similarly not credited in Awakening.

I've heard Vandham but no clue who he is. Haven't seen anything for remaining characters.
said at 11:07 AM on Sat Oct 22 2016
@JTurner No, I have a feeling that Nagi was John Demita (Will Barrett) this whole time.

Wow, it's surprising to see Alexis Tipton, Cassandra Lee Morris, Caitlin Glass, Carrie Keranen, Cherami Leigh, Chris Cason, Michael Sinterniklaas, Josh Grelle, and Rachel Robinson were confirmed to be appeared in Xenoblade Chronicles X and in a Nintendo video game also.

And speaking of which, what voice recording studio was it mentioned in the Credits that did record for Xenoblade Chronicles X, I was wondering it could be Cup of Tea Productions like Fire Emblem Awakening and I know that Caitlin Glass and Alexis Tipton were in BlazBlue Alter Memory and that anime was recorded and dubbed by Cup of Tea Productions.

And also, I just forgot one thing that to ask it also, did the credits confirmed that this game is definitely recorded in two studio like the LA and European since Adam Howard and Carina Reeves are Europeans or is it just recorded in just one studio?
NCZ (Admin)
said at 7:12 PM on Thu Nov 26 2015
@King Marth 64 I haven't seen the actual full credits, just the bit that NintendoActu uploaded. But this was almost certainly Cup of Tea and they most likely got another studio for Adam Howden and Carina Reeves.

Fatal Frame V used a second studio (Cup of Tea) for Janice Kawaye and Code Name STEAM used a second studio (Bad Animals) for Jason Adkins, plus Smash Bros has been using multiple studios since Brawl, so this is probably the same case.

said at 7:25 PM on Thu Nov 26 2015
@NCZ Heck, Smash Bros has probably been using multiple studios since the first game, one in Japan and one for Charles Martinet in America. Not to mention anything 4Kids might have had to record.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:31 PM on Thu Nov 26 2015
@Nightmare Crusher Martinet's clips in 64 and Melee were reused from SM64, I think.

But yeah, that's true. They used 4Kids to record new stuff for Jigglypuff since then, and then they needed Rare for the Star Fox Smash Taunts in Melee, on top of recording Jeff Manning, Ryo Horikawa, Makiko Omoto, and Ikue Otani et al in Japan. I think a lot of the Poke Ball characters' lines were actually cribbed from the anime for at least the first two games.
said at 10:15 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@King Marth 64 It's pretty awesome. I remember when I was playing Awakening, I thought it was so cool how alot of the voices I was hearing were some of my favorite anime actors.
And nice to see that continue on with Xenoblade and Fates.

I look at the LA-based voice actors in titles like Kid Icarus Uprising, Wonderful 101, Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates, Smash 3DS/Wii U, Code Name STEAM, Pokemon Origins and now this, I think to myself:

"It has never been a greater time to be a fan of Nintendo."
said at 10:12 PM on Fri Nov 27 2015
@VGAfanatic I recently just rewatched some of the pre-rendered Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn cutscenes and holy crap. Amazing to think how far the voice acting has come. I'm glad Nintendo has been getting more professional voice actors instead of, and this is just me assuming, in-house staff.

Please remember that the policies we have for credit requests are the same with upcoming games as they are with games that are already out. Not everybody finds out information at the same time, so please note that there is no need to rush to be "first".

The update will come tomorrow now that I've seen the credits and collected character images. Please be patient.

Worth noting that a couple of characters are uncredited in the English version but comparing it to the VAs' other roles I have some good ideas of who they are.

 1 Shout Out!
I've heard samples of this game's voice work and so far I'm quite pleased with it. The lip sync is kinda iffy, but the acting sounds very solid. Elma sounds just as I'd expect, and Cassandra Lee is great as Lin. The voice who does Ryyz is probably my favorite so far; very venomous and vicious.

I really hope Cup of Tea doesn't screw the voice acting with overrated voice actors (Laura Baily, Patrick Seitz, or Funimation voice actors), because we need veteran/underrated voice actors (Richard Epcar, Charles Martinet, Scott Menville, Justin Gross, Heather Hogan, Olivia Hack, or Lia Sargent) for better use of voice acting.

P.S. I'm nostalgic on voice acting...!
said at 2:51 PM on Sun Aug 16 2015
@Fernie Fernandez Cup of Tea is dubbing this?
said at 4:41 PM on Sun Aug 16 2015
@Fernie Fernandez At this point, i don't think that it would never happen, and besides the veterans doesn't actually be contacted because we all know that very experience voice actors are actually veterans and besides things change, not everybody is gonna mentioned each of these voice actors they may or may not know about.

And besides Cup of Tea is LA based recording studio they may as well do fine with the voice direction that is going around, voice actors don't go to the studio themselves.
said at 4:42 PM on Sun Aug 16 2015
@AmericanBuizel Yeah.
said at 4:46 PM on Sun Aug 16 2015
@SteelEthlan And besides don't get your hopes up too much, and already veteran voice actors you mentioned are overrated, is just your opinion. And besides i've seen others who got much more roles now.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 4:53 PM on Sun Aug 16 2015
@AmericanBuizel It's not confirmed but it seems pretty likely.

Wendee Lee posted about the game on her facebook fanpage. She directs all the Tales dubs so my assumption is that she's the voice director for this too. Also, Nintendo used Cup of Tea previously for Fire Emblem and some of the VAs in Smash 4, and all of the confirmed VAs for this so far are Cup of Tea vets.

@NCZ Sorry guys, I've been getting this grudge since Cup of Tea ruined the Namco's Tales series after Symphonia became Dawn of the New-world and due to the mess they made in episode 2 of Xenosaga (I liked how there voices are so smooth instead of force, by the way.), but I was impress that they brought New Generation Picture's voice actors like Erika Lenhart, Rachael Hirschfeld, and Hunter MacKenzie Austin into certain games...!
NCZ (Admin)
said at 11:21 PM on Mon Aug 24 2015
@Fernie Fernandez Don't shoot the messenger. Not getting the original cast back would've been Namco's call since they're the ones who set the budget and elected to go non-union from Legendia on. Also, Cup of Tea was only the recording studio for Xenosaga II and weren't in charge of casting - that was Brigitte Burdine, who also cast the first Symphonia and is now sadly deceased (CoT DID do the casting for Xenosaga III though).

said at 11:40 PM on Mon Aug 24 2015
@NCZ I feel...greatly sorry for my action that I've never knew...!
Sorry about that, it was my nostalgia back in the days when I watch anime or movies/play video games with an All-Star cast that started from the Metal Gear Solid's success and Jack Fletcher/Kevin Seymour's interesting casting calls on several medias for an entertainment.
My apology, I'm just...feeling old...!

P.S. Brigitte Burdine...I miss her...! :'(
said at 11:20 AM on Sun Nov 8 2015
@NCZ Also, for the record, I liked "Tales of Symphonia" AND "Dawn of the New World"'s dubs. Although it was disappointing that not all the VAs could come back, their replacements were competent and the other characters were well done, at least in my opinion.
said at 2:38 PM on Tue Aug 11 2015
Great news! There's gonna be a mix of both British and American VA's.
I hope Adam was able to record some lines in this game.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 3:13 PM on Tue Aug 11 2015
@Macreen Sounds good on paper. We do need more details on what that means though. Could be either "yeah, game's recorded in the US, but a few VAs are using fake British accents/are actual Brits (e.g. Gideon Emery)" or "this is a co-production between Cup of Tea and Side UK". It's probably the former if I had to guess.

Be nice to hear Adam Howden as an avatar voice though.
said at 2:44 AM on Fri Aug 14 2015
@Macreen I honestly don't know what to feel. It kind of feels off, considering that the city in Xenoblade Chronicles X is based off L.A., which is an american city. Seeing some characters having a british accent would kind of feel off when you think about it, if most of the characters are from North America.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 10:19 AM on Fri Aug 14 2015
@AmericanBuizel I mean, there are plenty of British people in the US. LA in particular is super diverse. It's not really that much of a stretch.

First English video:

Elma is totally Tara Platt, and I think Lymlee is Cassandra Lee. Guessing this is Cup of Tea.

@DisneyAnimefan1995 Hmm, definitely sounds more like Tara Platt than Caitlin Glass to me.

@NCZ Kinda hoped they would get British VAs again, but having the folks from Cup of Tea won't hurt.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:39 AM on Sat Jun 20 2015
@Fulgore2005 Yeah, me too. I've said it before but Xenoblade's voice acting was so refreshing in how unique it was, and the British voices were a perfect match for the fantasy world that the game took place in.

Given that this game is set in "Neo Los Angeles" and that NoA is in charge of the localization (whereas Nintendo of Europe did Xenoblade 1), I suppose going American was kind of inevitable.

If it is Cup of Tea, like Fire Emblem was, they've got a solid track record, so hopefully this should turn out well.
said at 8:43 AM on Sat Jun 20 2015
@NCZ No kidding. The LA Voices for the recent Nintendo games (Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus) have been spectacular IMO. So yeah, I'm very optimistic with how the English audio will fare.
said at 2:59 PM on Sat Aug 1 2015
@NCZ I was expecting someone like Colleen Clinkenbeard for Elma. Tara's voice is PRETTY close. Good call on Nintendo!
said at 9:37 AM on Fri Nov 13 2015
@NCZ Elma sounds more like Caitlin Glass. She might have recorded for this while in LA doing Tales of Zestiria.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 9:45 AM on Fri Nov 13 2015
@VGAfanatic Yeah, I started thinking that the more I saw.

Plus I saw the character editor in a GAF thread and Tara Platt's an option there, so I doubt she's both Avatar and Elma. So it probably is Caitlin Glass.

That is one incredible lineup of Avatar voices. Disappointed that Hikaru Midorikawa isn't an option though. :|

Tree House is in charge of localization as far as I know. If it doesn't have British VO, I won't lose any sleep over it, as I didn't find Xenoblades VO to be THAT good personally, although I'm sure this opinion won't win me any fans lol.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 12:50 PM on Thu Feb 5 2015
@Gaddes The game's also set in Neo Los Angeles. So I guess realistically, plotwise it'd make more sense to have US accents.

Oh well. If not UK voice actors, I'd be totally cool with an American dub cast along the lines of what Kid Icarus got.
said at 7:51 PM on Sat Feb 14 2015
@Gaddes I'm pretty sure they might do that in Europe when Nintendo of Europe get their own set of voice acting cast i don't know.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 8:04 PM on Sat Feb 14 2015
@SteelEthlan Considering I can't think of any Nintendo games that received a full English redub between NA and Europe, I doubt it. Xenoblade kept the NOE localization entirely (voice and text). Especially for an RPG of this size, doing two whole dubs just isn't feasible or necessary.
said at 7:25 AM on Thu Feb 19 2015
@NCZ Aww I get what you mean it was just an idea.

Oh man, this might just be my most anticipated game of the year.

I finally managed to acquire a decent-priced copy of the first Xenoblade while I was in the US last August and it really is an amazing game. This new one looks to be even better. It can't possibly come west soon enough.

Xenoblade had some of the most high-quality and memorable voice acting I'd heard in a game. I'd be kind of disappointed if they don't go with British voice actors again.
