To this day I still consider this to be the Room of video games...

I played this game as a kid. In my opinion, this Sonic game was okay, despite how many people crap on it. Also, the glitches are pretty fun.

This game was horrible, but what makes it worse is that my cousin got it for me during a Christmas party. I remember feeling down, so he did it to cheer me up. We drove over to the nearest store, purchased it, and I popped into his Xbox. To say I was crushed is an understatement!!

This game was just terrible. It tried too hard to be epic and serious, and failed miserably at it.

That being said though, the soundtrack is good, the highlight being the Solaris Phase 2 Theme.

Seriously, it just screams epicness.

Ah if it isn't the game that (and this is just my opinion) put Sega into the bottomless pit of companies that no one cared about anymore. Seriously who thought Sonic kissing a rejected Final Fantasy character was a good idea?

To be fair Sega have been making a comeback lately. Yakuza has resurged outside Japan, Nintendo resuscitated Bayonetta, Puyo Puyo is actually being localized again, Valkyria Chronicles and Vanquish got PC ports, the 3D Classics are amazing... And even though they aren't involved in them, Wonder Boy, Rez, and Shenmue are all back with tons of love too. Chain Chronicle was successful on mobile and Phantasy Star Online 2 has been too even if it'll never be localized. Sonic hasn't been the main breadwinner for them in a long time.

(Of course even then, the two best Sonic games in the past five years were the ones Sega didn't develop in house.)

@NCZ Not to mention they own Atlus, have a shocking profitable series of Football/Soccer Management sims(look it up) and that sweet, sweet pachinko money over in Japan. They're doing just fine.

@Nightmare Crusher

Yeah, the Atlus buyout is a good one. It's so weird that in future crossovers they're probably going to be putting Megami Tensei in the same league as Nights, Monkey Ball, JSR, Space Channel 5... I still have a hard time thinking of it as one of "their" franchises.

Sega Europe are a beast on PC as well. So many sports/strategy games that are actually ridiculous sellers. There are a lot of things I wish Sega would do better or more of but at the end of the day they're pretty healthy.

@NCZ "Sega has been making a comeback" Sonic Forces begs to differ...

I just gave a massive list of other games they've released and are releasing. There's Valkyria Chronicles 4 as well. Sonic Forces is basically an outlier at this point, and that's more because it's obvious that Sega's passion regarding the series as anything more than easy money just isn't there anymore. Elsewhere they are doing just fine.

Don't feel too bad.

You're just in time for the 11th anniversary of Shadow the Hedgehog.
said at 6:08 PM on Tue Nov 15 2016
@NCZ Kids, there's nothing more cool than two anniversaries, but if the two games' birthdays that are celebrated happen to be Shadow or Sonic 06, that's no good! It's a chili dog, no one has the right to bastardize it if it doesn't want them to. So what do you do?

Anecdotes about this game in "honour" of its 10th anniversary (man... where does time go?):

- Sega wanted to put this game on PS3, 360, and Wii. Then when they actually got ahold of Wii devkits they realized there was no way the game could actually run on the Wii. So then they split the development team in half and made half of them bang out a Wii Sonic game (i.e. Secret Rings) in barely a year. Needless to say having a crippled dev team did not do this game any favours.

- Part of why this game was rushed so badly was because they wanted it to make the PS3 launch. They didn't even succeed at that. The PS3 version came out in 2007.

- There is a scene in this game where the GUN Communicator guy's voice actor actually messes up his line, gets corrected by the director, and then starts his line over from the beginning.

Needless to say, I'm glad Sonic Mania and Project 2017 are being given the amount of time they deserved.

This... is the WORST Sonic the Hedgehog video game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long loading times, poor camera system, gameplay glitches, TERRIBLE plot and sloppy character control, this is just a mess. Princess Elise is also, the WORST Sonic the Hedgehog character ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Poor Lacey Chabert, her talents was completely wasted. Poor poor Sonic. Please Sega, after Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, don't let this happen again.

In my honest opinion, this game ruined every character, except for Shadow. Yes. As it turns out, this game somehow managed to get Shadow right. Overall, I guess this is Shadow's true personality at the end of the day.

You know, I actually don't hate 06 but now I see it more as a game with lost potential and the mistake was obviously rushing the game. It's a real shame.

Interestingly, there would have been a day and night system in the game which would transition depending on the amount of time spent in the stage. Shame it was scrapped but at least it came back in Unleashed (bar the transition). Tails, Knuckles, Blaze, Amy,Rouge, Omega and Metal Sonic would have had their own storylines in single player and I would assume they would be playable in multiplayer. You would also be able to unlock music from past games and do missions similar to what SA2 had.

I think Yuji Naka made the mistake of leaving during the development of the game because this put pressure on the team as their was no proper guidance anymore hence how we saw a change from the beta footgate from the demo footage. Secondly, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe another team was working on Secret Rings at the time which meant the 06 team was decreasing in size? Lastly, SEGA made this situation worse by forcing or in other words putting pressure on the team to finish before the deadline as they wanted it out for Christmas hence why it was rushed. They should have taken their time to work on the game, really.

I understand that they wanted to make sure it came out in order not to lose sales and as it was anniversary game but I think it would have been best to push it back at a later release but what's done is done.

Now, this was the last MAIN 3D Sonic game to have full 3d control. Gameplay wise, I actually find it to be decent for the most part in terms of Sonic's level design only. Blaze is easily the best character to play in this game, believe it or not but I experienced no problems when playing as her. She felt fluid, fast and had a good range of attacks. It's just a shame you don't play much of her.

Sonic is pretty decent despite his homing attack losing momentum at times. If you actually watch the beta footage, his homing attack is more powerful and fluid in that version as he does flips. I like manipulating the gems too. However, the controls for the mach stages are WAY too sensitive. Omega is another character that works fine too although you can actually break the game by abusing his hover mode.

Shadow is okay when not using a vehicle but he still lacks speed and I like being able to grab objects and projectiles when playing as Silver but again, the same problem occurs with him. The slowness of movement.

Unfortunately, the rest are pretty slow and I think Amy is sadly the weakest of the bunch. Her hammer attack is delayed. her double jump has no momentum and for some reason, she can turn invisible which I never understood? Considering that Metal Sonic was supposed to be in this game, is it safe to assume that they were planning to have Espio since David Wills was in the game? Probably not likely but just a theory.

I like the level design for some levels such as Kingdom Valley and White Acropolis.

As for the voice acting, it's pretty hit and miss. A very close mixture of both good and bad. I don't consider it to be the worst voice acting. I think it's inbetween decent and below average. I think Dan Green, David Wills, Pete Capella, Bella Hudson, Mike Pollock do a good job in this game. Jason Griffith sounds good in the CGI cutscenes but does a rather mixed job in the ingame cutscenes. Again, I don't think it's not terrible but not his best effort and voice direction also takes a part of this. Fortunately, I feel he does much better in every other game beyond 06.

Storywise, I liked Shadow's story for what is was and to an extend, parts of Silver's story. Shadow shows determination, bravery and is no longer dwelling on the past. I actually like his personality in this game. However as a whole with all 3 stories, it's quite a rocky mess. There's a lot of incosistencies that you easily notice, not everything is fully explained and there are a lot of things don't make full sense. Blaze's backstory was also messed up in this game. This is probably one of the reasons why remaking the game wouldn't be very easy because the story would also have to be fixed as well as the gameplay and other things.

I really love the ending for the game though.

So to conclude, Sonic 06 is a game that offers some good content but unfortunately not enough as it is a unfinished and rushed game which leaves the bad stuff domianting around it heavily and is just seen as lost potential to me.

I honestly get some enjoyment from the game but at the same time, it becomes frustrating once you experience the bad stuff such as glitches and unresponsive controls etc. I would really like to see another Sonic game with the Adventure gameplay someday but sadly I can't see it happening now.

@Truesonic Sonic and the Secret Rings was ment to be a Wii port of Sonic 06 but Sega had troble trying to port the game over so therefore we got SR instead.

I heard it was supposed to be a game to get Sonic back on his feet again after 06.

It's a real pity this is the last all 3D control Sonic game, I like Unleashed and Generation(never played Colors yet) but the switch between 2.5D and 3D is very disorientating for me I rather stick to all 2/2.5D or all 3D

Despite it's faults, I actually like the story of the game. Granted it plays horribly (example I actually managed to get lost in Silver's first stage in the past...yes I actually got lost in a sonic game).

And one thing I want to point out, Sonic himself gets a bad rep for the whole Elise thing when the relationship never seemed romantic at all from his end. Blame her, not him.

@NCZ If you take away all the glitches, poor controls & certain parts of the plot (the bad parts). This would probably end up being a decent game. I'm actually surprised no1 has ever actually thought of that. Guess it really left a bad taste in people's mouths to not try & think of ways to make it better. I've never actually played it but all those reviews & a glitch video put me right off.

The only thing I dislike is the battle against Silver really weird

Then again I liked the old Tom and Jerry Movie over all the direct to DVD movies

I actually really liked this game; it was good. They just needed to fine-tune the loading screens and the glitches, and it would have done better in the markets.

Dan Green was absolutely fantastic as Mephiles, and it makes me sad that we may never see Mephiles again; he was the greatest Sonic villain to exist.

The furry fetish was a little weird. The game was filled with glitches too! Plus the voice acting was terrible, even for the Sonic X cast (which was usually very bad anyway). Even Lacey Chabert sucked, and that's surprising considering she's usually a very good voice actress!

This game turn out Okay but it could of been way improved I know it was rushed and unfinished and SEGA were also working on the PS3 Version so they probably didn't have time to finish the Xbox 360 Version as it was first but somehow both versions turned out unfinished and SEGA were rushed This game had a lot of potential most elements were a lot similar to Sonic Adventure

I wish they would remake this earlier but it's too late now they should of patched it earlier but oh well it turned out okay once you get the hang of it then it's not so bad a sold my copy though still it's a shame this was rushed all the supporting characters were suppposed to have their own story even metal Sonic was supposed to appear ah well

The positive higlights from the game is the Music, Begining and Ending Graphics and I liked the voice acting a lot here even though they could of improved a bit but it was still a great performance Especially Dan Green,Lisa Ortiz, Jason Griffith and David Wills all did great though they shouldn't have made Omega's voice monotone and we know it wasn't Maddie's fault

I'd like it more if Caren manuel made Rouge sound more Edgy with the Sexy and playful attitude like she did in Sonic X and Rivals 2 and for Amy Palant to deepen the voice a bit just like she did in Shadow The Hedgehog,Sonic Unleashed and Black Knight but they were all good in the end no complaints I still liked it :) I even found Sonic's laugh funny I jsut laughed along with it It isn't annoying to me just funny XD.

This game is not Horrendous but not Incredible either just not one of my favourite 3D Sonic Games...

Music, 4Kids Voices and Level designs were awesome :D just as well as Major scenes I guess those are positive things.

@Truesonic Personally, in addition to all that you'd stated, I really liked the story, though so many seemed to hate it.

Had Yuji Naka-sama not resigned in the middle of development, and had the game been completed and release on all three intended consoles (Wii, PS3, 360), I think that the result would have been amazing.

All in all, I still really like this game, especially for its plot.
