 2 Shout Outs!
So happy that Shenmue HD is finally happening!!

(Can we get Skies of Arcadia and Saturn games too while we're at it, Sega...?)

@NCZ Probably a very good thing for establishing a foundation for the sequel. I've never gotten to play these games so I'm personally glad.

@Nightmare Crusher

For real. This whole time I was thinking they should've been on this the second Shenmue 3 broke Kickstarter records.

Still though, better late than never. I'm really excited that it's finally happening because Shenmue is one of those series I've wanted to play for literally YEARS. Yu Suzuki is a living legend!

@NCZ The fact that the American releases were on two completely different systems probably didn't help at all.

This should make things a lot more accessible for newcomers to the franchise.

And considering Shenmue 3, yeah, this is the perfect time to do it.

@Metabad

Yeah. In retrospect, you think it would make sense for Sega to have also ported Shenmue 1 to Xbox. Or also release both games on multiple platforms. Then again, I don't know if it's because Microsoft helped pay for the port. It's really weird that Shenmue 1 wasn't ported to begin with since they did so many other Dreamcast ports at the time. But maybe that's a big part of what helped give the game such a "mysterious" legacy.

One thing still bugs me: Most of the English speaking cast were (and probably still) living in Japan. How was Debbie Rabbai (a New York-based dub actress) able to join in? Did she take a trip to Japan at one point?

@A-Log

The game was recorded/auditioned in both Japan and New York

@NCZ I see. Didn't see that coming. Was Debbie the only New Yorker in the cast.

 3 Shout Outs!
Here's a very entertaining and informative interview with 4 of the main English voice actors for the Shenmue series: Corey Marshall, Eric Kelso, Paul Lucas, and Lisle Wilkerson.

 1 Shout Out!
Such a great classic! The story, characters and acting were amazing.

A shame Sega does so little with some of their game series. It would be nice to have the classics from Shenmue and Sakura Wars bought back.

@Fulgore2005 I still really hope they make Shenmue 3 someday and bring back the original cast, it wouldn't feel the same otherwise.

@Metabad Agreed. The VAs from Shenmue aren't known for much work besides a few Megaman and Tekken titles as well as F-Zero GX. It would be nice to have a fresh set like we got for Shenmue.
