This right here is my favorite NIS America dub. Period. The four goddesses all sound perfect and they really couldn't have selected better voices for the side characters either. However I will admit it is a very annoying that only half of the main characters have kept their english VAs but I guess I'll live.

Why do some scenes have English voices and the rest don't?

Budget, or lack thereof. LA dubs in a nutshell.

@Haruyuki Arita Usually lack of budget. NISA and Idea Factory just don't wanna fork out the cash to fully dub all the scenes usually.

@VaisuKaguya Or, more like dubs in general. LA dubs are the biggest-budget English dubs (although that's not saying much).

They certainly never gave me that impression.

@VaisuKaguya What sort of dubs do you like, then? Which locales tend to give the best dubs, in your eyes?

I actually don't really listen to dubs anymore nowadays. It's just LA dubs in particular I notice tend to reuse the same couple people in everything and usually have them do multiple parts that bothers me. Whereas, say, Funimation at least usually mixes it up with who they cast and can get a different voice for every character. Not that that automatically makes all their dubs good, but it feels like more of an effort at least. Honestly I'm not the one to ask about dubs, this is just my observation.

@VaisuKaguya Oh? Didn't you like or follow dubs awhile ago? & I think you may be right about at least non-union dubs. Overall it's not that different in pay, & LA's much bigger so most people will do something aside from dubs. The big-budget dubs, like Final Fantasy or other occasional SquEnix or Nintendo dubs, can pull from a much bigger pool. Plus we have Seattle which is a whole other pool. It's quite a number of people. Although I'm still inclined to ask what you dont like about dubs... ?

I still follow VAs on Twitter and such so I can state the facts if someone asks about something.

In general it's not that I dislike dubs (usually). I listened to them before but I just lost interest at some point.

Hold up, I'm pretty sure Nis dubs the exact same amount of scenes as the original did. No more, no less (unlike what Sega did with Phantasy Star Portable 2). The scenes that have no voiceovers are those that never had voices to begin with, even in Japanese.

If budget was a concern, then they wouldn't even dub dialogue heavy games like Dangan Ronpa and the like, or heck even produce a dub at all. If a company has no budget to produce a dub, then they would just release a game in subtitled format. Isn't that right?
