WHA?! Jamieson Price is Virion? That was the last person I was expecting! So different from his usual roles.

 3 Shout Outs!
So the Polygon video about Fire Emblem Heroes made me think Jamieson Price might have voiced Virion in Awakening as well as Heroes. I've listened to some of his voice clips, and it really sounds like him. We might have just mistaken him for Paul St. Peter because Price is using...kind of a higher register than most of his other characters, I guess? I could be wrong, though. I think you can hear what I'm talking about here:

@lyricaldelpha

Hmmmmmm......... I'd need to hear how Virion sounds in heroes to know for sure. There's no audio out so that'd have to wait till the game is out in a couple days. But man now that you mention it I wonder if you might be right. Price wasn't credited period in Awakening and I hadn't considered that he would be doing more than one character, especially one that was also uncredited. It does kinda sound like him.

@lyricaldelpha That second hold does approach his usual sound.

If the original Virion does turn out to be Jamieson then color me impressed. I never would have thought he could get his voice so soft sounding. It really is much more Paul St. Peter's thing than his.

So apparently the new Fire Emblem artbook contains a voice cast listing... Problem is that they just took the credits from the game, and then filled the rest in, based on old fan speculation and wikis etc.

(Credit to HylianBelmont and KazeNinja17 on twitter)

Bad research on Dark Horse's part. Danielle Judovits's credit has been debunked for over a year. Very damaging of them to put voice actors' names on a product they had nothing to do with. And since this is an official product, it's possible some might take this as confirmation even though the miscredits prove their information didn't come from Nintendo.

Wait a second, why is Laurent strangely changed and got marked with Patrick Seitz? I did see the actual credits in Fire Emblem Awakening listed Laurent voiced by George C. Cole which it's voiced by the same guy voices Gregor also or did Patrick Seitz confirm that he actually voiced Laurent also?
Nightmare Crusher
said at 6:21 PM on Sun May 22 2016
@King Marth 64 Long story on this one.

1. George C. Cole is Paul St. Peter.

2. Paul St. Peter has a very distinct deep, but soft voice.

3. Gregor sounds just like this, however Laurent does not.

4. Virion, who has no actor credited, does sound like Paul St. Peter.

5. The conclusion reached is that Laurent was miscredited and Paul St. Peter was actually Virion.

6. It's unlikely that a completely new actor was hired to play a character with so few lines as Laurent. Patrick Seitz is about the only person on the cast who can do a voice like Laurent's.

@Nightmare Crusher Wait, where's the source that this was a mistake that Paul St. Peter actually voices Virion and Patrick Seitz actually voices Laurent?

@Nightmare Crusher Ok, this looks more like Unconfirmed Speculation than Confirmation since I don't see anything mentioned it that Partick Seitz confirms it himself actually voices Laurent?

Ok, I tweeted to Patrick Seitz about Laurent to see if this is entirely correct or not.

@King Marth 64 Unconfirmed speculation is all you're ever going to get in the case of non-union dubs like this one. No one involved is allowed to say more than what's in the credits, which can be a problem if the credits have an error or are incomplete. It sucks but it's what happens.

Regardless I wouldn't say it's blind speculation. It's a reasonable deduction based on analyzing the cast of the game, vocal resemblance, prior performances by the VAs, etc.

@NCZ Wait, so some of you guys replaced Paul St Peter with Patrick Seitz for Laurent without a source claiming that "Patrick Seitz really voices Laurent" or did you guys found the real source after the discussion was taken care of?

@NCZ Ok, Patrick Seitz just replied back my question regarding about Laurent. He saids that he only voices Basilio and one of you guys had it wrong about Laurent.

Here's the proof:

We've done this already. Did you read the forums? You really didn't need to tweet at him...

@King Marth 64 I'd like to ask that if we say we have a situation under control, you don't tweet the VAs or anything. We know what we're doing.

@King Marth 64

I said you didn't NEED to. Which is true. We already tried the twitter approach.

As I said in my previous responses to you. In a case like this, *voice actors aren't allowed to say anymore than what's in the credits.* If the credits are incomplete or contain an erorr, then we're not going to get official acknowledgement of that. We have examined the credits and determined that this is likely an error. You can't get official confirmation of everything. There was no need for you to send out that tweet.

Huh, the cast list is finally complete! Paul St Peter is Virion? Patrick Seitz is Laurent?! Female Morgan is married to Avatar #2?! Minae Noji is Say'ri and Cynthia (I'm assuming Stacy Okada was an alias then)? I wasn't expecting any of that. I already knew of the Eden Riegel/Danielle Judovitz mix-up (they do sound pretty similar).

My favorite character is Panne by far. I just wish that she got enough love by the fandom, there isn't much art or merchandise for her; and it breaks my heart. But, I also really like Chrom c:

I heard this was going to be the last Fire Emblem game. I guess the series wasn't selling good enough, but that obviously isn't the case anymore (I hope not at least) because this game was amazing, most people who played it love it. I was never really a fan of fire emblem as I never played one.... I am a fan now.

@Heartfilia Mage 721 The creators at Intelligent Systems said that Awakening would have been the final Fire Emblem game if it failed to meet sales expectations (250,000 units), so they jam-packed it with as much love and care as they could.

Needless to say, their efforts paid off and the game exceeded expectations by a huge margin. At this point, they've likely quadrupled said expectations since they've sold somewhere around a million units worldwide.

@NCZ Not an easy one, but out of all of them, I'd say Chrom, Avatar, Lissa, Lucina, Frederick, Sumia, Say'ri, Virion, Stahl, Lon'qu, Gaius, Panne, Cordelia, Cherche, Donnel, Owain, Kjelle, Cynthia, Gerome, Yarne, Noire, and Brady.

Like you said, I can't narrow it down to ONE!!!

Aren't Laura and Travis non-union? Why weren't they credited?
NCZ (Admin)
said at 1:18 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
@DravenRoth994 It's worth noting that they've used pseudonyms and such for other credited non-union things. e.g. Laura's used "Elle Deets" for some titles and gone outright uncredited for others, Travis used "Kent Hampton" for the Sonic games. Take that as you will.
DravenRoth994
said at 10:17 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
@NCZ Really? I didn't know about that, thanks for the info. Of course, it seems in this case, Travis also took the uncredited route.

Can somebody please Explain to me what this whole union and non-union thing is? I never get it.
NCZ (Admin)
said at 4:29 AM on Tue Sep 3 2013
@Dark_Fiction
Union = The project is authorized by SAG-AFTRA, the actors' union in California.
Non-union = The project is not authorized by the union.

It's against union rules for members to work on non-union projects, so if they do work on them, they will often go without credit to work around it. Also note that some union members have "financial core" status, which means they can work on non-union projects without issue.
pokemastanumba1
said at 5:56 PM on Tue Sep 3 2013
Non-union projects generally don't match the VAs to the characters they voiced, they either just list the VAs' names, or they simply go uncredited. (boo!) Though, I'm not sure about the existence of specific unions (there are none in Texas, where FUNimation dubs their anime, and Canada has their own VA unions).

Wow! Patrick Seitz, Karen Strassman, Matthew Mercer, and David Vincent have certainly made a huge breakthrough into the VO biz, with all the new roles they've been getting in anime and video games recently.

But of course, this game's entire voice cast is nothing short of incredible. I really wish Nintendo could utilize VO talent like this for all their video game franchises.
NCZ (Admin)

@pokemastanumba1 I think they all made their breakthroughs a few years ago, actually.

@pokemastanumba1 I agree with NCZ, particularly on Karen Strassman & Patrick Seitz. Both of them have been in the VO field for a long time. Matt Mercer has been in several video games as well and Dave Vincent got his break with GunXSword in my opinion. All the VAs mentioned are talented people and do their jobs well, which is why they keep getting the work.

I feel it is somewhat awkward to not fully credit every VA. But if it has something to do with union/non-union standards, than it is possibly understandable.

Still, I am rather curious about this game. I remember getting into the previous Fire Emblem games as well as the OVA after Brawl.

I find it odd how about EVERY OTHER KID except Brady is credited. It's a shame, I'm kind of curious to know who it is. (There is no way it's Vic Mignogna like everyone is claiming.)

Yeah, that was my first assumption too, then I kind of conflicted and thought it was Dan Green for some reason. But it kind of makes sense, since Travis already isn't credited for Lon'qu.

NCZ (Admin)
said at 4:18 PM on Fri Feb 1 2013
@MaryKosmos Well, the game DOES feature a ton of anime and JRPG VAs; I believe this was dubbed by Cup of Tea just looking at the names. He was practically bound to show up somewhere. I'm surprised by the lack of Troy Baker or Johnny Yong Bosch, though.
MaryKosmos
said at 4:28 PM on Fri Feb 1 2013
@NCZ I can see that, seeing that that's the whole point of this FE.

I'm not a huge fan of Bosch, Lowenthal, and Baker, along with the other "popular" VAs...

I just wish they'd pick a woman to voice Richt in English like they did in Japanese... :(

@MaryKosmos Yes because nothing is good unless its done exactly like the Japs do it right? Yuri is quite talented and I'm sure he does a fantastic job as always. Lowenthal and Baker both know gaming and have a passion for it, hence why they're always used.

As for Chrom, how interesting. Since Street Fighter, Mercer's been gaining more roles....

@MaryKosmos Not a Laura Bailey fan?

Matthew Mercer's been popping up everywhere lately. Dude's living the dream! I'm surprised I didn't recognize it was him; in retrospect it's so obvious. I thought it was Roger Craig Smith.

MaryKosmos
said at 10:23 AM on Fri Feb 1 2013
@NCZ You could say that. I'm also not a fan of several other voices, due to them being overused and typcasted, if you know what I mean....

Me too! I also thought Chrom was Roger Craig Smith at first! My sister (who loves Fire Emblem or is getting into it) is madly in love with Chrom's voice...
spike32
said at 7:44 PM on Fri Feb 1 2013
@MaryKosmos Such a small community though which is why they're always used. I hate people with such high voices like Christina Vee so I'm happy with people like Bailey who "usually" isn't too high, but of course if she is, it's because that's what the director wants, since I know she hates playing the high pitched wuss.

Mercer is great, love his performances, and always wondered why he wasn't in more stuff being such a geek himself.
