 3 Shout Outs!
One of the few anime series that didn't endlessly pad itself out until it no longer contained an ounce of uniqueness or went on repeating itself: the main characters were pretty well characterized and well rounded, the animation and artwork were for the most part great, the show could actually maintain a consistent tone and theme, and its premise was quite unique for its time (the idea of an afterlife being a complicated and chaotic bureaucracy). All in all, great show: doesn't matter if it's sub or dub, IMO.

Yu Yu Hakusho might be one of the few shows where the sub is extremely underrated. I mean the dub is actually rather solid especially for its time when it was done in 2002 but I do feel some people don't give enough credit to the seiyuu cast here.

I'll admit Nozomu Sasaki's Yusuke feels less like a punk and more like a traditional shonen hero and that's how Justin Cook fits a lot more in the role. I still enjoy Sasaki though.

But I think the performance that really captivated me was Shigeru Chiba as Kuwabara. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy Christopher Sabat's Muscle Man esque voice and take on Kazuma but Chiba's voice just has these inflections and range where he can go from gruff to high and manic in a second and to me that was funnier. I think it was my favourite performance in the Japanese version.

@Autovolt Shigeru Chiba is just the best at playing characters who are bombastic & full of energy. Or any high energy character in general.

Man, I can't help but think of what could have been with this series' last season. I heard something about the author of the manga having to quit early and that he had more planned.

Seriously, how awesome would it have been if there had been an all-out demon war? With Yusuke leading Raizen's army against the other two perspective armies with Hiei, Kurama, and the other two kings at the helm of each? That would have been absolutely, mind-blowingly awesome. If the last arc had been that awesome this might have actually made it into being my favorite animated series of all time.

Still, this show is a freaking classic and there are many, many things to love about it. One of my absolute favorites and it always gives me a feeling of nostalgia when I start it over again. Heck, this show is so good that even though I didn't watch it on Toonami and didn't start watching it until 2008, it still filled me with so much joy that it felt like a missing piece of my childhood just within the first several episodes.

Long live Yu Yu Hakusho!

@PsychicVoiceSpy A big demon war would have been quite a thing to see. The tournament was alright, but Kurama and Hiei didn't have much of an impact in it as I recall.
