Ah, the undubbed, low budget, strange color palette Yugioh. There is a certain short of charm to this show, but honestly I think 99% of fans overrate it. Contrary to popular belief, it's not that faithful to the manga. There's quite a few fillers and strange adaptation choices, which result in it actually being less faithful to the manga than the card game series was.

This art style... This must be what the Shadow Relam really looks like.

People have already mentioned this, but Yami Yugi is like Jigsaw in this show!

Yami loves messing and toying with his enemies here. It's pretty epic.

@OldSchoolFTW Toying with them? He sets at least one guy on fire. It's amazing.

@Nightmare Crusher
Very true. That was the guy with reddish hair who held up the Burger store, and held Anzu/Tea as a hostage, where Yami challenged him to a Punishment game where he ended up being set on fire, right?

@OldSchoolFTW That was one time, but I think there was one other, at least in the manga.

What is with the visuals on this show? Everything looks like it was recording on a camera from the 60's with washed out colors and grain. Plus, the art style just doesn't look right. AND WHY DOES KAIBA HAVE GREEN HAIR?

@Nightmare Crusher
IIRC, Toei produced this version of YGO, so the different art style is due to a different studio producing it. This series came before Duel Monsters did as well.

@OldSchoolFTW I know why it's different. It doesn't change how strange it looks to me.

@Nightmare Crusher
I personally prefer the art style Duel Monsters used myself, but I do agree this was pretty wacky.

@Nightmare Crusher You know what makes it even weirder? There were colored illustrations of Kaiba with brown hair out in Japan at the time, so it wasn't even due to being a guess of what his hair color was or anything.
