You know, I was so on-board with the series finale, but the ONE thing that ruined it for me was the new characters and their apparent fetish with saying each other's names. XD

Cyclonus, why are you doing this, Cyclonus? You shouldn't be doing this, Cyclonus. Cyclonus!

Cyberwarp, this is what we wanted. You should've expected this, Cyberwarp. Cyberwarp, don't be like that.

I dis not think that Brooke Goldner would be in this series , but considering her father is a CEO at Hasbro, it's no surprise. She was actually really good.

And how they manage to help Soundwave while he was trapped in the Shadowzone?

@Voiceactorfan1 Probably the same reason that Bumblebee and Optimus look relatively similar to their TFP designs...because the shows share continuity with one another and there wasn't really any reason for him to look vastly different.

@Sparx94 Yeah, I dunno'. They're probably out there somewhere. Wouldn't surprise me if they come back as a guest role in a future season as adults or something.

Transformers Prime kind of addressed what Breakdown's fate is, though.

From what I heard, after the second season, there will be a movie, and then the series will end.

The most likely reason for this is probably ratings. Except for the first two episodes, the series aired in a graveyard slot on early Saturday mornings at 6:30 AM. The most likely culprit is the fact the network just wouldn't give it any timeslots that weren't already filled by Teen Titans Go. I'm telling you, TTG is being used as a tool by Christina Miller to kill any show she doesn't like.

I do like they're including a bunch of new transformers, but at the same time I'm just like

"You guys can still use some older Transformers you know, they don't all have to be original. You are allowed to bring in some familiar faces"
TylerMirage (Admin)
said at 12:49 PM on Mon Apr 11 2016
@skeletonking1234 To me, that's half the fun of this franchise. It's never shyed away from name-slapping to create new characters, and this show has some of the most unique designs and names simply because of that fact.

I'll take 10 Crazybolts and Octopunches before I'd take them throwing another Thundercracker in our face.

There's plenty of OTHER opportunities in the franchise for us to see old characters. No need to drag them into a show like this that's established being such a breath of fresh air. ;)

@TylerMirage Oh, I'm fine with the new characters, I'm just saying I think it'd be cool if they started mixing in old and new characters at the same time
TylerMirage (Admin)
said at 12:58 PM on Mon Apr 11 2016
@skeletonking1234 Eh, save that for TFP or the next show. Let RID continue with it's new ideas. :P Because this takes place in such an isolated part of the Aligned Continuity, it's the perfect chance for them to do their own thang with characters and not rely on "hey guise recognize THIS character?".

Besides, based on this show's MO, even if we *did* get "old familiar faces", huge chance they'd be name-slapped so hard that they'd basically be entirely new characters. They'd give us Thundercracker and he'd be a massive Decepticon eagle with lighting/thunder-powered wings (which sounds cool, now that I think about it).

Though I will say that I'm surprised they haven't used more Beast Wars/Beast Machines names or designs. Waspinator? Rhinox? Inferno? Those characters are ripe for the picking in this show.

@Plevak I don't disagree that it just SCREAMS Pokedex, but at the same time... I kind of like the "Decepticon of the Week"-thing. It's something that hasn't been done in Transformers before, at least not for a long time. Typically it's all of these tired treasure/relic/MacGuffin hunts, so a formulaic "gotta' catch them all" is a nice change of pace.

I like the voice acting in this, a lot strong performances and a good show of range from a lot of actors that don't always get to show it. I also like Bumblebee is the main focus instead of Optimus Prime, I hope other series take this idea as well. And the main cast is pretty likable (except Russell).
That said, nothing really else stands out about this.
The writing, it's only decent.
The animation, it's only decent.
The designs, their only decent.
Nothing really bad, except Russell, but I don't think this could go past one season. If it does, good for it.

Well now that the whole first season has been released online, we have to wait till next year. I mean it's still airing on Cartoon Network consecutively since March and will most likely finish around either August or September.

I really hope next year for season 2 the US CN airs the next season first but I understand the international market matters more to the franchise now.

In some aspects I find RID to be a major step down from Prime. I think the main aspect is the fact Hasbro really doesn't put much effort or confidence in the series. They made a few toys but they aren't that great, major step downs from other Transformer toylines of series past. If anything the Combiner Wars and IDW comics are now the main faces of the franchise, which don't get me wrong I like but its weird to see the "main" cartoon kind of just being there. I know it's for kids but I hate this excuse in all honesty.

Much like Prime, the best episodes are the more standalone episodes that aren't tied to the overarching plot. Overall I'd give it the first season a 7/10 writing wise but an 8/10 for enjoyability. I hope with the surviving cast of Prime returning in the next season will help the next season get a lot better.

In the upcoming episodes we're going to see the likes of Charlie Schlatter, John DiMaggio, Tom Kenny and Ted Biaselli do some guest voices.

I think this is some of the most varied voice casts I've seen in eons in a cartoon, a nice mixture of the regulars in the industry and a lot of new unheard or underused talent.

Khary Payton is unrecognizable as the newsman and Constance Zimmer for a newcomer to voice acting has already shown off some good range, in the next few episodes you'll see Ted McGinely and Mitchell Whitfield do the same.

In the middle of making my forum post of my full thoughts, but a quick summary.

For something I had initially mixed feelings about first teaser, this has actually surprised me at how much I really liked it (much like Life of Pi, Gravity, Frozen, The Lego Movie, the new Cinderella movie... basically a LOT). I think as a follow-up to Prime, it's turning out MUCH better than I expected it would with the sudden shift of tone.

Hopefully, they'll keep the momentum going.

@Troodon2 That's actually an issue I have with the show. There will be another Decepticon fembot confirmed called Filch however she's going to be voiced by Constance Zimmer doing double duty.

Though they had a list for the toyline for a Legion class Windblade (If anyone is unaware Windblade is a female Transformer who was created by a fan poll) perhaps Windblade may show up in RID maybe later in the first season or 2nd season.

@Music Meister Yes, but I'm talking about the PREMISE right off the bat. "Bumblebee and his team have to stave off a Decepticon prison ship". You know, the whole "villain of the week"-thing. That concept implies that there will be A LOT of characters, ergo, probably A LOT of voice actors.

A show like Beast Wars, TFP or RB - their premise actually implies a LIMITED cast, relatively speaking. Those are all small, isolated groups of Autobots who are combating small, isolated groups of villains. But RID says the opposite: "there's literally an entire prison ship of Decepticons to face".

@vgiannell5 Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what exactly happens with Optimus. Will they keep him dead? Will he come back to life as a physical being in prominent role? Will he be a prominent character but remain in his ethereal "ghost" form?

Given TFP's penchant for resisting change and not upsetting the status quo, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Optimus was brought back to life officially at some point. I'd give the show mad props (which I already do for multiple things) if they kept Optimus dead/his role relatively limited.

So we'll see. :D
