Even if this show was awful (at least in my opinion), the Japanese voice acting was very good.

The highlight has to be Banjo Ginga's Scorponok. Seriously, the dude has one of the greatest voices ever heard in anime. I also really liked Ikuya Sawaki's Fortress Maximus.

So bad (dub wise) that Metrodome even included it on the UK releases as an extra bonus in case you want your ears blown to smithereens.

The dub of this show is so hilarious.

This is actually a pretty nice looking show for it's time... only thing is... that dub... 80% of everyone just sounds weird and flat, Japanese had very good voice acting though

Optimus Prime's voice in this is so dang horrible. At least Robert Belgrade had SOME sort leadership qualities, as well as a cool voice. Here, Pierre Tremblay just makes him sound like a dumb thug.

I would be interested to see this Series redubbed by Sentai Filmworks or Funnimation.

@EPA Deane Or better yet, with the surviving voice actors for G1. But I that's probably even more unlikely.

They really should leave English dubbing to people who actually can speak English well.

Actually, this isn't English so much as it's Engrish.

@whyofbladez In the actors' defense, a bad dub can just as often lie at the feet of the voice director(s).

@whyofbladez Everyone here speaks English fine. It's the script and direction that really makes things fall to pieces.

@Scrappy-Fan92 Considering that half the damn cast was played BY the director that's hardly an excuse for this dub.

I just watched the scene where Optimus and Rodimus Prime team up. Want to know how bad the dub was? Let me put it this way.

What's weird is that the actual Optimus still calls the other Prime "Roadimus".

It's almost like they had no idea what they were doing.

@Nightmare Crusher ROADIMUS PRIME? ...OPTIMUS PRIME?-prime!

It aired only in Japan yet had English voice actors? Weird.

@pete The English version was produced in Hong Kong and only aired there and I think the U.K. It's so infamous that several DVDs of the show come with the dub on it as a joke.

Sixshot here honestly sounds like the Dark Emperor from Space Thunder Kids.

Also Brainstorm sounds like one of the Space Thunder Kids.

I wonder...

@Metabad So Simon Broad and John Culkin were in Space Thunder Kids?

(The dubbing of this was handled by Omni Productions, a Hong Kong based company. They also dubbed a lot of other movies and such using a very small cast of local actors.)

@NCZ Yeah, I compared the two voices and they sound exactly the same. I'll try to gather up some screenshots and post some samples in the forums.

@Metabad At least the japanese theme song rocks out! Gotta love Hironobu Kageyama!
