I'm liking the show so far but there's some issues on the dub's side that are annoying for me.

Brad Hawkins voices Matsuri Washu but then Bryan Massey has voiced him in all other appearances. If Hawkins was suddenly unavailable after just one episode does Funimation plan to have him re-dub over all of Massey's work for the home video release or will Massey just re-dub Hawkins' sole appearance (cheaper route even though I prefer Hawkins' voice)

Even stranger is how they just randomly recast Kuramoto Ito. Dallas Reid voiced him in Root A and even episode 2 for this show but then Justin Briner takes over. Can't imagine Dallas is unavailable since he's still working on other shows; seems like poor planning and research. McFarland is usually well organized so if there's blame to go around my gut says it's one of the Assistant ADR Directors. Consistency would be nice but Funimation is infamously cheap at times so I'm not betting on corrections for the home video release.

I've accepted the fact that Alex Organ is unavailable and Christopher Wehkamp is an ok substitute for My Hero Academia but it's become a bit insulting that they continue to lazily use him for all of Organ's roles here as Kisho Arima and Sirzechs in DxD HERO.

Should I just assume Wehkamp will voice these roles too whenever the dubs happen?

- Doranbolt (Fairy Tail Final Season)
- Isaac Ray Westcott (Date A Live III)
- Togusa (Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border 5 "Pyrophoric Cult")

Wehkamp's a solid actor but I'm actually starting to feel a bit bad for him. I'm sure he's happy to be paid but objectively Alex Organ is a better actor and majority of fans probably prefer the first voice for those characters.

It more noticeably awkward for Tokyo Ghoul:re since the preview for episode 8 shows Tatara; who Wehkamp voiced in Root A. Maybe Funimation can get away with multi-casting if Tatara and Arima never interact but if they do then it's just kind of dumb if we hear the same voice talking to himself...

@JF1991 He's in the same lane as Alexis Tipton and Matthew Mercer now sadly.

@JF1991 In regards to Doranbolt. Wehkamp's character in Fairy Tail, Ren, isn't a very significant one. So not quite as bad, thankfully. This situation is just silly though since both characters have major roles and even speak in similar tones.

I find it hard to believe they can't find anyone else that could be a similar match to Organ or even just find someone that, while not an Organ soundalike, could be a good fit for Arima or one of the other Organ characters. I've seen interviews where VAs have mentioned how hard it can be to get in at Funimation. And we've seen also that Funimation have no problem using other talent pools aswell to help (Houston, LA, New York, etc).

And I too feel kinda bad for Wehkamp because of this. But along with what you said, also what comes to my mind is that we arguably lose the opportunity for him to voice a new character in all the shows he pops-up in. Like, in regards to My Hero Academia, he could've been a good pick for Nighteye or one of the members of the Precepts. (yes the show has had several VAs voice multiple characters. But Inman's were minor or one offs until Magne and both of Wald's characters are different and more side characters).

Though guess on the plus side. It seems like it has raised the demand for him. Ever since he became the default replacement for Organ, it seems people have had him in mind for more main roles. Like Ace Attorney, Star Blazers, Kakuriyo, etc. Compared to how for several years he seemed to just be more of a background voice actor.

Really like Mikaela Krantz range! I just watched Yamada-kun a couple months ago and she was unrecognizable in it compared to her voice in this.

Rest of cast sound great aswell!

It's not surprising to see that Christopher Wehkamp is replacing Alex Organ again.

@Soul-dragon true but Alex talents have been missed but I know he busy with stage work but still

@Soul-dragon Not gonna lie. I didn't expect the recast this time due to the fact he already plays a character on the show.

@batcool Agreed. I'm glad he's able to fulfill his true passion, but his presence is missed. I really just thought Eraserhead would be the only time and then he'd be able to come back for his other shows, but nope. Looks like he's gone. :/

@Unknownsage13 He was also just replaced in Highschool DXD Hero. It's sad to see him go yes but I'm glad he's following his dream.

Guess this means Joel McDonald shouldn't have a problem reprising ongoing roles even though he's got a new job Gearbox.

Be nice if Alex Organ could as well.

@JF1991 Pretty sure he only ever stopped doing directing work at Funimation anyway. So acting wouldn't have been an issue.

@JF1991 Joel only quit directing at FUNimation. He didn't quit acting. It's not like he moved to LA. Gearbox Software is less than 30 minutes away (by car) from FUNimation so that shouldn't be an issue.

This is a really good cast. It's nice to see Adam Gibs get a lead role in a show as big as this and I'm always down for more Sarah Widendeft, Daman Mills, Morgan Garret and Mikaela Krantz!

Adam Gibs' first role in FUNimation, eh?

@Luigikun No actually, he was the lead in Hyouka's dub and did some supporting/bit parts for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. and Junji Ito Collection among some other stuff. Regardless, he is having quite a bigger presence in Funi dubs than before.
