I first got my introduction to Soul Eater when I heard about the song "Resonance" by TM Revolution... That was a pretty good track, and actually had a nice start as the first opening theme to the anime adaptation, itself. Now personally, I don't watch the series as much as I do either Gurren Lagann or Lucky Star, maybe because I can never catch on to the plot as much... Yeah, a little lazy, I might say. Animation quality speaking, it does look interesting to say the least, but not natural as my tastes suggest... Bones produced both this and FMA, and I prefer the latter. Also, it made me curious to find out that the series does borrow some slight elements from other elements of anime or gaming (take Black Star for example: he seems to be an offspring of a Narutard, personally.) Now I have watched the series and read the manga online, and as almost always, the manga has more depth on story and character development than the anime version... Hm. For 51 episodes, you gotta admit, this was a damn good anime while it lasted. But still, shows such as Gurren Lagann and Rurouni Kenshin still make me stay tuned to watch more of that than SE... Overall, it's a good quality anime if you have watched movies such as The Nightmare Before Christmas or anything else that was an inspiration.

This anime was good and lasted a nice, short-lived 51 episodes. When this first got licensed by FUNimation, I knew that they would pick it up. One problem: The thing I hated about this however is why did the later part of the anime start taking off away from the manga adaptation? It may be because the anime version simply catches up... All of the people who made the anime adaptations to the original versions of nearly every animanga franchise out there want the anime to stay in good distance with the manga, which is pretty lackluster to me. Well, forget that anyway! Let's just say that Soul Eater was perfect as a manga, and excellent for an anime series. Hopefully a second season or an OVA would be made in the near future, like what happened to Air Gear.
