Ah yes it came to my mind that this series had a Speedy dub with acting similar to Dragon Ball Z(heck most of the females sounded like Krillin in said dub) I only had two episodes that I'm a little too fearful to touch again

Really bummed that, in regards to the new Sailor Scouts, they got three of the K-On! girls but left out Mugi and made Ritsu a villain!

The first season was the best - after that it just kept getting goofier.

But with the first season you just had the five girls and their personalities and powers, and it was all good and uncomplicated.

And in the first season, the monsters were truly frightening.

I must admit the dub is still hit and miss but it's better than the voice work for the first two seasons of the old dub

And I actually found a voice I love from Cherami, she's kinda hit and miss for me

@HienFan Still I'll wait until they dub S and SuperS to give an overall review, I still prefer the Cloverway dub at this point

I spent most of this week watching the Viz dub of Sailor Moon and I must say it's pretty good for the most part, not perfect but still very darn good.

The casting for all of the Sailor Senshi/Guardians were all well cast. They all play their parts perfectly and their performances emulate the original seiyuu's in their own way but still make it their own. It's also is a childhood dream come too for Amanda Celine Miller in particular grew up with Sailor Moon and Jupiter was her favorite as a kid, I mean what are the odds of that happening, getting the chance to voice your childhood hero, that is awesome. Cristina Vee playing Mars was a great change of pace for her in almost every way I hope she voices more characters like her in the future since she was really funny in the role, Kate Higgins as Mercury is really cute, Cherami Leigh as Venus, I love this casting so much as soon as I saw the casting and saw the design I knew she was perfect for the role and she didn't disappoint and lastly Stephanie Sheh as Sailor Moon...after this without a doubt she IS the english Kotono Mitsuishi. She hits it right on the money in nailing the airheaded yet loving hero Usagi as well as her emotional scenes and her battle cries are incredible because of how much she emulates Mitsuishi.

I also really enjoyed the voices for the Dark Kingdom Generals, Todd Haberkorn's Jadiete was pretty good his voice is a bit lighter than I'd prefer Jadiete to sound like but he was really smooth sounding and arrogant which was the most important part in Jadiete's voice. Liam O'Brien as Nephrite was just perfect not much else to say about it. Patrick Seitz's Kunzite is just the right level of deep and a major shout out to Lucien Dodge as Zoicite especially since the original dub changed the character from a gay man to a woman while still making him an entertaining villain....oh and the girlish screams are hilarious, Lucien and folks at Viz finally did justice to the character that was needed so many years ago.

I think the biggest surprise really goes to Michelle Ruff as Luna who does sound somewhat the furthest way from the original seiyuu Keiko Han, she doesn't sound as cat like but she just fits so well playing the beleaguered feline alongside with her Bleach co-star Johnny Yong Bosch as Artemis.

Newcomer Robbie Daymond as Tuxedo Mask is a bit of a mixed bag, sometimes he's kind of bland but other times he's really good especially as Prince Endymion towards the end of the first season. I have faith he will improve as the dub goes on.

I still prefer the Japanese voices for Sailor Moon a bit more but the Viz dub is a solid dub that does justice to the show that the fans always wanted. No doubt the Viz dub will continue to get even better in the later seasons, I'm looking forward to seeing what castings they come up with next.

It's narrated by the same guy who did Thor in the MARVEL 1960s cartoon.

While I am glad now there is an uncensored English version I'm mixed about the voices some sounds better than ever others sound worse

Then again the LA staff are kinda like Aoni Corp to me very hit and miss with every character

Since Viz is dubbing Sailor Moon, many fans get that assumption their favorite voice actors from Funimation will voice, but they're using Viz actors not Funimation. So we won't hear voices like Colleen or Luci. We would expect to hear voice actors like Kira Buckland, Christine Marie Cabanos, Megan Hollingshead, Steve Staley, Cassandra Lee Morris, Erica Mendez, Kari Wahlgren and so on.

Just finally got the chance to go out of my way & saw the first 23 episodes of the Viz Dub on Neon Alley and so far... I LOVE IT!!

I'm really loving Stephanie Sheh as Usagi, Cristina Vee as Rei, Kate Higgins as Ami, Michelle Ruff as Luna & Robbie Daymond as Mamoru. Plus I got a kick out of Todd Haberkorn, Liam O'Brien, Lucien Dodge & Patrick Seitz playing the four generals.

Overall so far, I think the Viz dub is pretty good as I was hoping and expecting.

Oh man, I'm already seeing people bitch about how the heavily censored and edited dub from the 90s is better just because they're blinded by nostalgia...

@Lion's Edge

I'm kinda out of the loop though. Any idea if it'll be a simultaneous release world-wide for all major languages or what?

I have to wonder who will do the dubbing for this new series. A new US cast, another Canadian one, or something else?
said at 1:37 AM on Mon Jun 9 2014
@Anwar It will be Viz that's doing the dubbing, seeing as they have the rights to the show.

I'm actually looking very forward to the redub. There are so many talented voice actors out there, I know they would do this show justice. Don't get me wrong, I love the old dub (other than the whole cousin thing), but it is very much a product of it's time, it's time for something for a new generation of fans. With that said, the original dub will always be a source of nostalgia, and maybe Viz could do something like FUNimation's "Rock the Dragon" set with Dragon Ball Z (maybe the "Fighting Evil By Moonlight" set?).

Love the show especially the Final season(pity that one wasn't dubbed, I'd like to hear the S/supers cast again)

I wonder how the reboot will go and who is going to get it dubbed if it does get dubbed? Funimation? They are good but I will always prefer the S/Supers cast
