I have to admire people for still watching the Pokemon anime.

@8000 Saiyans I stopped a bit ago TBH. The new version is just so goofy not to mention I have no where to stream it subbed. If it was put on Crunchyroll I'd hop back into it but for now I have other things to watch.

@8000 Saiyans I mostly watch it just for the random guest apperances they do every now and then.

There's just something about seeing actors like Vic Mignogna, Todd Haberkorn, Cristina Valenzuela, Spike Spencer, Chris Patton, Lucien Dodge in a NY dub that brightens my day and TPCI never disappoints on that side.

*still love ya 4Kids tho*

Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZV29gjkRoM&t=0s I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. And I know this is impossible but...can we get Rachel Lillis back for Misty? I know that it's not going to happen but her new VA (and just is just my opinion) sounds god awful.

As of now, I'm completely finished with the anime (and its fandom). The complaints and flame wars I've been seeing on YouTube and other sites about its current dub (TPCi vs 4Kids, that is) have become too much for me to bear.

...that, and I also got flamed by some users (4Kids dub fans) who hate the TPCi dub and many of its current voice actors after I said in the comments section on one video that I liked the TPCi dub. Not gonna go into detail on what they said to me, but it wasn't pretty.

The complaints and flame wars soured my interest in the show, but being attacked like that was definitely the final nail in the coffin. Things had never been the same in the Pokemon anime fandom ever since the big switch...
said at 3:59 AM on Sat Sep 9 2017
@FF91 Who attacked you? Listen I'm one of TCPI's biggest critics on this site and even I find that ridiculous. There is no need to attack people who don't agree with your opinion. Honestly people need to grow up and stop whining like a bunch of toddlers just because someone disagrees with them.

I finally watched the dub for Sun and Moon and died a little bit on the inside. Honestly is TPCi even trying anymore? Lillie, Mallow and Lana all sound awful and the opening is rather bland and boring.
said at 2:55 AM on Fri Jun 2 2017
My favorite reaction to the dub opening when two of my friends saw it (one is from Spain, apologies for his accent, bit of cursing so be warned):

But in all seriousness, the music replacement has gotten pretty ridiculous these days, there's like 85% of the OST replaced on average, and at times >90% is changed per episode. I wouldn't mind that much if the dub music was listenable, but it's really poorly placed and goofy most of the time imo.
said at 1:24 PM on Fri Jun 2 2017
As for my actual thoughts on the dub through all its years, I'm waiting until conditions are favorable for me to speak my mind on what I believe is the truth, and is starting to appear to me was a completely valid opinion of mine even when I was just a child, all along.

@batcool They are going to dub it, a few episodes have already aired in Canada. I don't know what's taking Disney XD so long.

I really want a good quality dub to happen for this show. We haven't had one of those since 4kids.

This new season might as well be a reboot, I'm not sure if it will turn out like the game's situation

As for the dub er... it's not really as bad as when they started but a lot of character sounds more like how they did in Diamond Pearl especially Ash himself, I think they changed the voice director again it kinda reminds me more of the 4Kids dub earlier on

I take back what I said, I like show but the Black & White seasons I'm not a fan of, and Ash losing in Kalos was a let down. I'll have my memories but I have given up Ash Ketchum. At least there's the first season.

So I just saw the two English dub episodes of Sun & Moon thanks to the UK users, who were kind enough to share it with the rest of us, and I have a LOT to say about it...here goes!

- As usual, the sneak peek leaves the Japanese OST alone: I have a feeling 90% of it will be replaced retroactively later on like it was the case for XY & XYZ's dub episodes (as well as all 3 Movies), but hey, better enjoy it while it lasts if that is the case! I hope I'm wrong about this, but considering how the concurrently dubbed XY-XYZ saga has fared so far, I don't have any reason to doubt this will be the case in its Series Proper run...since it was also the case for the sneak peek of XY's first 2 dub episodes they only left it alone temporarily, too.

- Mr. Mime's dub voice is very good, but it's always been voiced by Kayzie Rogers since Season 1, so that comes as no surprise here.

- Samson Oak's dub voice is WAY better than I was expecting: thank GOD they didn't go with JCC for him like I feared! He not only actually sounds like an old man, but one that is also goofy & fun loving. I really like this VA, surprisingly.

- I actually like Sophocles' dub voice...he was a character I feared TPCi was going to mess up, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. He sounds more like a boy than Ash does in this dub! Out of the four newer characters, I think he actually received the best dub voice!

- Bewear and Tapu Koko's dub voices are actually okay, if a bit too squeal-y and rough at points, respectively.

- Is it just me, or is dub Lillie sounding a lot like Haven Paschall's Serena voice? I'm not sure how to feel about this at all so I'm staying "meh" on it right now. Not the most original casting choice at all if it is her...although, I admit if it is her, she sounds more natural as Lillie than she ever did as Serena. Regardless, whoever dub Lillie is, she does a decent job- not unique at all, but it's alright, just needs some fine tuning and it'll work.

- Kiawe's dub voice is decent, although the actor's acting is a bit TOO toned down and lax at times where it requires energy in the performance. If he puts more energy in his performance, he could be good, though.

- Ash's dub VA (Sarah Natochenny) is miscast now more than ever before: for one thing, she makes a 10 year old boy, sound like a 20+ year old woman doing a raspy, deep voice, which you could've argued would still fit for the older looking XY Ash, but it does not fit at ALL for the SM Ash. Some people say it makes him sound more "mature" than Rica Matsumoto on YouTube, but I find that argument stupid because (a) Ash is a 10 year old boy so therefore giving him a deeper voice than he should have makes no sense whatsoever, and (b) Rica Matsumoto can actually laugh and yell properly, unlike Sarah Natochenny, who still goes "ahahahaha" and "wuh-wha-whaaa" to this day doing both, respectively.

I still miss Veronica Taylor as dub Ash: she was honestly much better!

- Delia's dub VA (see above) isn't fitting- not as terrible as Ash, but sadly, her delivery is still very forced & stilted, and the voice slips into her BW Ash voice often like it did towards the end of the saga's episodes at some points & her Johanna voice at others- Masami Toyoshima's mom voice is considerably more natural & less forced upon viewing the Japanese Version.

However, not helping the performance is JCC/TPCi giving Delia lines like, "This delicious PINEAP juice" instead of "Pineapple juice" because he's trying to make characters sound TOTALLY RADICAL as usual in the dub, and needless to say, I dislike it.

Again, Veronica Taylor is still missed by me in terms of the dub.

- Professor Oak's VA (JCC) is as terrible as usual in the dub- he sounds far too young and nasally, as well as mad scientist-y as usual.

Stuart Zagnit/Stan Hart, I miss you so much for the dub: even Kyle Hebert's take in Origins is preferable to what JCC's Oak has devolved into, really.

- Lana's dub voice is way too nasally and lispy: miscast.

- Mallow's dub voice makes her sound more like a young woman than a girl: again, miscast.

- Prof. Sycamore's dub voice...WAY too plain and dull...in the Japanese Version, he sounds so laid-back and cool, but here? Beyond generic.

- Was it really necessary to have the Team Skull grunt say "CHEE-YAH" to try to sound COOL in the dub when he didn't do that in the Japanese Version, TPCi? Also, what was with that "RAPID-ASH" pun you had Samson Oak say? Not funny at all, honestly.
said at 12:17 PM on Sun Nov 20 2016

The weak points of the Sun & Moon dub (a) are mainly the characters' voices that were recast from the 4Kids Era still being unfitting for the roles, (b) Lana, Mallow, Sycamore's dub voices aren't fitting, they need a lot of work, & (c) the script writing/dialogue can get fairly jarring at points, so far.

I would honestly rather watch the 4Kids dub of Kanto, Johto, & AG over this, along with TPCi's dub of Unova, over their SM dub, myself. On the plus side, at least it's nowhere near as painful as TPCi's dubs of BF, DP, or XY-XYZ, though, and I'm honestly pretty happy about that much.

Still, I'm going to watch SM in Japanese way more than the dub, because the English dub mostly has some really annoying vocal performances and stupid dialogue that put me off it.

P.S. In case you're wondering why I haven't offered an opinion on the dub's intro, that's because no one has put it online yet.

@WrightWay Actually, Pinap is a berry in the games. I also checked the subbed version and that's what she's mentioning.
said at 9:42 AM on Mon Nov 21 2016
I'll let that go, then, but no way am I letting the other issues the dub has go, personally: still it's Pinap, not Pine-ap, regardless, so it threw me off- one fansub had her say "Pineapple juice" so I guess it was wrong in this case.
said at 11:24 PM on Sat Dec 10 2016
@WrightWay the Samson Oak wordplay jokes are like that in the original version too - they know it's corny
said at 11:56 PM on Sat Dec 10 2016
The thing is the dub didn't even try to translate most of Samson Oak's puns...the Solrock and Porygon ones were the only ones to make it through, while the rest were entirely omitted for generic dialogue, with the exception of the "Hey, look at them Rapidash!" one I mentioned earlier, which in fact, was dub-only (in the original, he said "They seem to be feeling happy" instead).

Not to mention the fact TPCi erased the Z Move kanji text both times it was on screen (once in each episode, respectively), and Sophocles' Togedemaru gets a dub voice, which makes it the first electric rodent to not keep its Japanese voice..and unlike Kapu-Kokeko, Tapu Koko in the dub is simply referred to as a guardian...he's not a deity like in the original.

There's a lot of differences I didn't touch on between SM's dub and sub so far in general, but these are the gist of it...for now.
said at 6:31 PM on Tue Jan 10 2017
If it makes you feel better, though, I currently have a higher opinion of the SM dub than I did the XY(Z) dub, but that can change depending on what happens on the 22nd.

For me, the dub's poorest quality was in XY(Z), though: never before had the Pokemon English dub changed the music in both the Anime & Movies simultaneously in its whole run, it cycled through 3 voice directors with one of them admitting he didn't care how bad the dub got at point-blank range to a fan who has ranted on the subject, the intros were fairly poor, and JCC's scripting of TRio & Ash still leaves much to be desired in terms of faithfulness.
said at 11:45 AM on Mon Jan 23 2017
I hate to (keep) replying to myself here, but it was just a rerun of the sneak peek on the 22nd- a moderator on the Bulbagarden Forums has said Ed Goldfarb & Akhil Gopal will be coming back in the SM dub's proper run to compose the dub music who asked & confirmed it with him themselves, though, so it seems my fear of this happening again was justified after all.

I just hope he does a better job with Sun & Moon than he did with XY(Z)'s scoring, really, though I'm expecting something like synthesized ukulele, heavy metal, and/or beating drums wildly myself. I wish the music wasn't going to being changed in general and they'd stop making everything (even the Movies) wall-to-wall music lately, but that'll probably never happen.
said at 12:03 AM on Mon Feb 13 2017
Final reply I'll need to make here (to myself) but the dub's opening is "Under The Alolan Sun" and no, it's not a minute long despite the dub being on Disney XD, but still 29-30 seconds like the last several years have had the length stay at. I do not like it at all, but your mileage may vary.

As for the OST, apparently it's been replaced, so it was just as expected for SM's dub: honestly, I'll be going back to the Japanese Version- no offense to anyone who likes the dub, but it's not to my liking anymore.

So I just saw the Sun & Moon Anime's premiere (in Japanese, because the dub's going to do its usual sneak peak thing on the 19th) and...it's something else, really.

Well, to begin, positives:

I really love that Team Rocket weren't in it so far in it, because that really helps make the show a lot more bearable without their childish antics for me- they've been annoying for a while now, IMO. That was the best thing about BW to me, so to see them not shoved into almost every episode like in XY, is a definite plus for SM.

Professor Kukui is a pretty cool and chill guy.

Kiawe's pretty smug at times, so I enjoy his presence.

Ash...he's regressed back to a goofball who does silly things and acts like a doofus in terms of his personality (he's most similar to his BW incarnation out of any of his previous incarnations in this aspect), but he can still battle semi-competently unlike in BW, so I'm pretty mixed on him as a whole. His design is also really...going to take some getting used to, since he looks even younger now.

Mallow...is pretty much the new Brock/Cilan/Clemont in terms of cooking of the group, but otherwise there's not much else to say. I'd say more, but she barely has any distinct personality so far, so I can't say much about her. The same applies for Lillie, Lana, and Sophocles, they all meld into this sameness so far. The only differentiating factors being that Lana tends to be shier, however, and Lillie gets freaked out easily...but that's about all I can say right now.

Delia comes to the region for only one episode, only to go away by the next one: what was the point, exactly?

Team Skull are oddly more like Team Rocket were in the early episodes of OS than Team Rocket themselves are nowadays...very strange.

I'm really glad they changed the "get 8 badges, lose League, dump Pokemon at Oak's, recycle indefinitely" formula, sure, but I'm also not all that pleased with what it's doing in place of that: so far, it's like Pokemon is trying to imitate Yokai Watch & rehashing Orange Islands at the same time, so I'm pretty "meh" on it.

Problem is, I'm worried Team Rocket are still going to be their flanderized goofy selves 24/7 like they were in the DP & XY sagas again when they do show up after these 2 episodes based off the trailer, so my fears aren't entirely quelled on that front.

Samson Oak is an even bigger goofball than Professor Oak. He makes goofy faces for the sake of being silly, too. It's just kind of obnoxious at times, honestly.

The dub is not looking to fare well, but that was to be expected these days...I say this because I saw a trailer via a fan who linked the UK trailer, and as usual, it seems TPCi & DuArt are putting little to no effort into it- TPCi are trying to make this pretty easygoing and lighthearted SM Series so far look EPIC in the trailer for whatever reason, which doesn't really make much sense (for those curious, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ognbgUqb09g).

Ash's current dub voice unfortunately clashes very badly with the newer design, because since Ash looks even YOUNGER now, he sounds even older than he already did with the previous design (and still pretty effeminate), so it sadly seems even more unfitting than usual to me. The Team Skull grunt's VA struggles with his delivery even more than Ash's VA does, too..."If you beatus,MAY-BE we'll let you walk away" is how he talks, so...it's really unnatural. Mallow's dub voice seems OK, though- not all that natural, but it's tolerable so far, for what little we had to go on. I won't comment on anything else about it, since we haven't gotten more, but I don't have very high hopes for it- at least I won't have to listen to TR for the preview, though, so that's a blessing as far as I'm concerned for the dub.

So yeah, that's about it so far: your mileage may vary with Sun & Moon's Anime, is what I can say- it has a mixed reception on YouTube: some hate it, but some like it.

Also...unless this is the finest trolling possible on their part, CN's officially stopped airing the Pokemon dub in the States (https://twitter.com/Pokemon/status/799301709675671552)...no, this is not a joke, it's going to be on Disney XD now. Funny how Kids WB had it for eight years here & then CN had it for ten years...then dropped it (I don't know how it's been for the rest of you in Canada & the UK).
said at 9:50 PM on Wed Nov 30 2016
As for Team Rocket, well...I don't honestly care for them in SM, either, so far. Many dislike Jessie's new design for the Arc, and I can say I'm included in that group- she looks like a stereotype of a witch now, not kidding, but beyond that she's still a silly goofball. James is also still being a goofball making silly faces as well- the only time he was tolerable was when he talked about Mimikyu giving them help, but aside from that, nothing has changed. Meowth is oddly the most tolerable, and has the most personality without going into 100% flanderized territory, but still, he lacks a lot of depth he used to have.

On the subject of Mimikyu, I don't honestly like how the Anime has handled it: it's just supposed to be a lonely creature that dresses up as Pikachu in the hopes it can get friends, but the Anime makes it into this evil creature that wants revenge on Pikachu and will do anything to get it because...it does? Lame, honestly.

You know what could have made Pokemon an engaging series? If each region had a different set of protagonists instead of Ash having to be the star of every region.
said at 10:31 PM on Fri Sep 30 2016
@Jared Delgado
Did you know...that Ash has lost the League yet again, and has now completely changed his goal from wanting to be a "Pokemon Master," to wanting to "graduate like never before" from a school in the upcoming Series? Oh, and he's still 10.

Also, they've reanimated Ash completely this time around, so that it's not just his eyes and outfit that have changed like it was for each new Series with the outfits (respectively), but his whole appearance. But the only two things that still remain the same? Ash is still going to be there, and Team Rocket will still be there.

Not even joking, see for yourself:

Hi, I'm new to the site, but I thought I'd like to get this off of my chest because I feel that I really need to say this (and no doubt I'll get a bit of disagreements on it):

As of now, I'm so sick and tired of all of the complaining going on and such with the current TPCi dub, because it's gotten to the point where now even I can't enjoy watching it anymore without reading or hearing everyone complain of the voice acting, script writing, etc. It's been long enough, so it's time to let it all go!

I'm sorry I had to say that, but I just can't handle it any longer. Try to understand what I'm saying.

I'll be honest about this series, I loooove the Indigo league and I still do(then again gen 1 is forever my favourite) good voice acting for the most part, not as much edit as later parts of 4Kids life and for being gen 1 when it was still establishing itself and wasn't as rigid as later part of the series

I also like Orange Island although I felt Ash's voice degraded to be too cutesy and high pitched.

However as Johto arrived it got really repetitive and the voice acting got really cartoonish plus Misty and Brock got stale...

Hoenn was a bit better but it was when I stopped watching the main series and only focused on the movies, Veronica and the new voice actors(at the time) are mostly good but many of the veteran are starting to sound really cartoonish and that's not getting into Mike Pollock's narrator voice it was sorta acceptable enough at first but as the rest of the 4Kids seasons passed they got really cartoonish and the censorship was really starting to show.

Then it happened... Pokemon USA admittedly they were bizarre in the television version of the special and they were still rusty for the rest of Hoenn but I felt it was an improvement for the later parts of 4Kids.

I did not see Diamond Pearl other than the Arceus film but the voices got better than the entirety of Hoenn.

Best Wishes I only saw snippets off but it sounded good although I have a problem with the protagonists chemistry especially Iris I like the ideal of choosing a black girl and not giving her a stereotypical black personality but they made her so abrasive...

XY is when I picked up the series again, I actually thought the voices improved, the music changes(though I assume it happened around Best Wishes) bugs me but it's my favourite season since Orange Island

Forgot to mention this, but another thing I liked about 4Kids' dub over TPCi's would be the openings/intros: I mean, 4Kids' at least seemed to put actual effort in their openings (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlNw_ZbrF6A, , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8pj9EwjNjw, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtnhJhMOg1E).

TPCi's openings/intros range from friendship forever (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKNGPin3qN0, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhsPaA8fUKY, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LOiMCyu5bc, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxonNbECKR0), to awful ripoffs of 4Kids' intros (compare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xKWiCMKKJg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zInwD3MD7_U to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZx7D1tofb0 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DlRh4CJiKs to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B57o_SIu710), to awful rapping (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBDMhc54K2s). There's no real effort put into composing most of them at all, to be blunt.

@Dr.Who Agree there too. The Biker music of XYZ is probably one of the worst ones yet think that rips off mainstream music trying to be hip.

@Dr.Who I found the more funny knockoff versions to be their League of Nations and Fruitties Forest BGM covers. Who would knock off wrestling and The Fruitties for a Pokemon show. Sure Wrestling is sometimes fitting although not really for Hoopla but the choice of a Fruitties cover by TPC made no sence at all.

said at 10:20 AM on Fri Sep 9 2016
@Dr.Who Theres so many average TPC themes that it's hard to come up with a definative Top 3 stinkers but I think I have one made up now.

#3 I'm going to give to New Adventures Everyday I think it was a cover of a previous one but it was worse than the original with Ash's singing voice sounding like a grown up women and brock sounding like a bodybuilder.

#2 This was a close call between the top 2 for the top stinker TPC theme and this placing is going to the ripoff mainstream bikers theme Stand Tall. It's slightly less bad than #1 and slightly better than #3 was.

#1 is nothing else but a double decker can't remember if it's the same series but it's a joint intro and outro stinker with both being unique but being just as bad as each other but their could have even been a one series gap between the themes. However I don't care it's a doube decker for me anyway.

My #1 is of course the stinktacular Diamond and Pearl (We Could Rule The World Pokemon POKEMON) it has this warpy and overly distorted guitar which hurts your ears for a rock song when you got it in headphones just like a foghorn sound.

The credits of my #1 worst is named Pokemon Go like the Android game and it was a really badly redone Poke Rap Pokemon Master if you wanna be faster.

Yeah, it sounds as dodgey as I wrote it. That concludes my top 3 worse theme songs of all time for the show.

Hope you enjoyed reading it mate.

I'm just going to put this out there, and I'm not sure if anyone else agrees- I thought the 4Kids dub of this Series was a lot better than the TPCi dub. Now I won't deny for a second that 4Kids did a lot of nonsense with some of their other series, but Pokemon in my eyes was one of the their best efforts, and their dubbed episodes still have some charm to them in my book.

On the polar opposite end, I gave the current dub about 9 years, thinking that it'd get better, yet I feel it has done the exact opposite, and gotten progressively worse, the most glaring issues for me being the extremely sub-par voice acting and casting, awkward dialogue for Team Rocket and Ash, as well as the excessive unfitting music replacement.

Let this speak for itself on the music replacement:

"There have been a few episodes where the only piece that's kept is the jingle accompanying the episode title card (the episode where Ash catches Fletchling being one), which is a level of suck not even reached by 4Kids ever, so there's that."

Like some others, I just want Pokemon to get a new dubber, I really don't care who as long as genuine effort is put in, and I firmly believe with all my heart it's not being done justice in English these days.

@Dr.Who Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh Uncut and Dinosaur King Season 1 because Season 2 they got into One Peice quality territory when the pirates and that started being in the show were their 3 crown jewels I would say.

@Dr.Who Serena's still wearing a red skirt in the XYZ intro when she wears a red dress attire now I get what you mean by lazy title card.

I remember watching this at 7. I always pictured what it would be like to travel with Ash and just travel the world with a friend like him and just get to see the world of Pokemon, and sometimes I still do now, and I'm 14 almost turning 15. I will always love this show(even though the plot may be garbage sometimes, the gags boring, the new rivals are annoying as hell, etc.) I really hope Pokemon gets a new dub(even though I don't mind the current one). I'd love to see my favorite VAs work on this show.

I find it ironic the picture at the top was cut out of the English dub of BW142. :P

Though I agree with Autovolt myself on Pokemon- XY is a nice show, but I just wish we had a better dubbing company in charge of this Series. As he said, "TPCi just continues to get worse and worse" (imo) at their voice directing, and writing dialogue, but I was also infuriated when I learned they replaced Shinji Miyazaki's wonderful music for the Diancie and now Hoopa films. The replacement music really isn't even as good as 4Kids' replacement music was for their first three films were, imo, really messed up the whole vibe of them.
said at 5:30 PM on Sun Nov 8 2015
@Dr.Who A shame the music had to be replaced, though I'll be the first to admit that I never bother comparing the OST's of the Japanese and English dubs, so I suppose ignorance is bliss. As for the acting, eh, I find it hit or miss.
said at 6:15 PM on Sun Nov 8 2015
I understand. To me, Pokemon without Shinji Miyazaki's music is like Star Wars without John Williams' tracks, it just doesn't feel right.

For what it's worth, I thought 4Kids' dub music had better composition than TPCi's dub music does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlOhtp1eH0A. 4Kids also kept more of the Japanese music than TPCi has, so I appreciated that as well.

As for the acting...I find it pretty awful in the TPCi dub in general and worse than ever before, but I did like the acting in the 4Kids dub for the most part.

@Dr.Who >I find it ironic the picture at the top was cut out of the English dub of BW142. :P

to be fair it is a good group shot including so many of Ash's Pokemon.
said at 11:02 PM on Sun Dec 6 2015
I agree, but I'm just saying that TPCi cut it out of the English dub, if it makes sense.
said at 1:50 AM on Fri Sep 9 2016
@Dr.Who Summit/TAJ/TPC old movie only days kept every single Japanese BGM I would say.

They added their own music as well to make it better back then rather than worse though because even though the Japanese had over 30 tracks of BGM the english dub team made it sure that the tunes don't overplay replaying over and over until they become stale.

TPC with DuArt involvement seems to have gone the route of lets replace nearly all the BGM's and not let the originals play out once.

Thats the difference I think an improved score with more BGM's whilst retaining every original one playing at least once vs all changed BGM's.

@Dr.Who Hoopla was the worst animated movie I've ever seen Pokemon related well TPC wise anyway.

The intro was well done and actually good voice acted on that man I'd give it that but once the film kicked in it went into disaster.

What was the background music trying to be WWE League of Nations just not as good?!!!!?

And the voice acting of Hoopla in both forms just disrespected the entire moderate learning difficulty community.

In the last couple of days I've been catching up and marathoning the XY Series and wow not only is this better than Best Wishes but it's actually pretty fun and dare I say darn good?

I haven't enjoyed the Pokemon anime in such a long time. I feel like I'm a kid again. Serena, Clemont and Bonnie are pretty likeable characters, far better than Iris and Cilan ever were. Ash has finally returned to being a good character again in my eyes...he's still a headstrong and hot blooded idiot but he's far less childish and is using strategy and tactics again in his battling.

Also I think some of the recurring characters like Diantha, Tierno, Trevor and Shauna by far characterized superiorly than their game counterparts. Not to say the XY games were bad but they just weren't good characters in the game.

I just wished we had a better dubbing company and talent behind this season. TCPI just continues to get worse and worse. I hope someday TCPI drops DuArt and goes somewhere else like The NYAV Post, Bang Zoom, Studiopolis, FUNimation, Ocean Group.....I'd even settle for Blue Water or Sentai just anywhere else.

That being said I'm glad I've finally moved towards watching it subbed. The seiyuu performances have been great especially from Rica Matsumoto, Megumi Hayashibara, Shinichiro Miki, Mayuki Makiguchi, Yuki Kaji, Mariya Ise and Unsho Ishizuka.

I hope XY continues to keep up with the good work.

@Autovolt I watched it first and loved it, though for some reason I lost track. I like that they revived the old theme song, stuff like that seem like they're going for a 1998 feel to it, my favorite episode, is the ghost one, they're usually entertaining, and this one is no exception.
said at 1:35 AM on Fri Sep 9 2016
@Autovolt The guys who did Chronicles with TPC replacing DuArt's role as DuArt was doing XY Normal at the time.

Yes, please.
said at 1:40 AM on Fri Sep 9 2016
@Autovolt Whilst I have been enjoying the so bad it's greatness of the dub as well as the good anyway sub Bonnie and Clement is nowhere near as good as their European's in Japan Eureka and Citron countparts in the Japanese Charactorizations.

All I have to say about the TPCi dub is really that this describes my opinion on it:

The sad part is that, with everything else as well, my opinion matches word for word with everything you've said, but now...the Sun & Moon Anime is happening soon, and I don't know what to think...

This Anime has gone way downhill, and its English dub has gone beyond downhill-- the 4Kids Era was the best for the Pokemon Anime, and OS was the best Series, IMO.

While I only really watch the OG(and a bit of Johto and Advanced and some movies) I have to say I didn't mind most of the recent voices

Except for Brock. Glad Brock left after DP he was getting annoying(I would be glad he left even if he was still voiced by Eric though)

But still there are some current voices I like better(Meowth) and some I dislike for both the dubs(Jessie and Butch) even if for the majority I prefer 4Kids

I must say that personally I feel Pokemon has not taken a turn for the worse in recent years, in my eyes. Both the current TPCi English dub, and the show itself, have fallen short of their predecessors in the 4Kids English dub and the OS, AG, as well as even the DP series. The show just really isn't what it used to be anymore these days.

I apologize, but I meant to say that I feel Pokemon has taken a turn for the worse (etc.)

said at 2:47 AM on Tue Oct 8 2013
@Regomania Any proof of that statement?
said at 4:22 AM on Tue Oct 8 2013
@Fulgore2005 Gah, Damn. Well, you win. My statement could be false. But, let's just say the new dub isn't the same for me...
said at 2:54 PM on Tue Oct 8 2013
@Regomania Don't worry about it. I can understand why the older dub is preferred.
said at 10:33 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
@OldSchoolFTW Not just the dub: the show itself. I like the OS best, mainly in the Gen 1 arcs before Johto made it boring. BW is a close second, though: it was surprisingly good compared to what came before it.
said at 10:41 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
Same here, but I do prefer the 4Kids dub to the TPCi dub myself (for reasons besides the voices/voice acting alone, although that's one of my main reasons for that preference).

For me: OS > AG > BW > DP

BW was better than AG initially for me, but then the Unova League and Da! brought it down for me. DP was...well, Dawn was cool, right?
said at 10:45 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
@OldSchoolFTW I'd say it's OS > BW > AG > DP. True BW peaked with Team Rocket's Operation Tempest, but "Episode N" was VERY good: it felt almost like a movie spread out into 14 episodes! The actual movie with Genesect was also epic, as was the series finale that followed Da!. AG was always hit-or-miss, but I loved May's arc throughout the whole thing. DP...Dawn WAS cool, but was still the weakest girl companion thus far for many reasons. :(
said at 10:50 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
Whatever the case, I'm glad someone else didn't think DP was the best series in the whole anime. lol. Team Rocket was cool in Unova (as in, they were actually getting things done instead of blasting off again for once), and Episode N was GREAT, but the League Arc and all the filler in Da! ended up bringing it so down for me I had to put it below AG myself (no offense, though, I respect your opinion). DP was really not my cup of tea...I never got into it. :(
said at 10:56 AM on Wed Oct 9 2013
@OldSchoolFTW IKR? It actually really astounds me how many fans seem to adore and worship the DP series. It was the most BORING one to me: the complete antithesis of what the anime started out as. As for me, I put BW a bit above AG because a good Team Rocket arc and the Team Plasma arc > Team Aqua and Team Magma's arc.
said at 12:18 PM on Wed Oct 9 2013
Same here about the DP Series. The Team Rocket arc and Team Plasma arcs are definitely better than the Team Aqua and Magma arcs in the anime, so I agree there.

@Dr.Who It's a shame the TV mess happened only because TPC decided to fire TAJ and hire DuArt when they took the TV over.

I come to this conclusion because even Ronnie's team has worked for TPC as TPC replaced Summit's role on The First Movie and was joint production with TAJ on movies 1-8 all 8 movies sponsored by 4Kids distribution of course but nevertheless they had TPC involvement although not pure TPC on it's own I'd give the films that.

I think that DuArt replacing TAJ as a cheap alternative to the studio and them putting VA's in charge of writing the show screwed it up so it was management related I feel which is TPC's fault but it isn't at the same time because their involvement in the early movies did bring some hit and miss results but we all still enjoyed those early 4K/TAJ/TPC films.

@TC81691 a new future feature will be to potentially have multiple images per character. so for characters like Ash who have had many design/outfit changes over the years, this feature would allow all of those to be showcased.
